Mrs. and Mr. Smith -
Chapter 1595
Chapter 1595: Chapter 1595: Crossing the Dead River! Chapter 1595: Chapter 1595: Crossing the Dead River! Both individuals were closely watching each other, a profoundly sinister smile hovering on Drexel's face, while Ethan Smith maintained a degree of caution.
He discreetly pushed his presence to its limits, always prepared for possible engagement.
At that moment, Drexel yawned leisurely.
He walked up to Ethan Smith and, hooking an arm around his neck, jovially suggested, “How should we split these treasures, babe? Half each?”
Upon hearing these words, Ethan Smith finally let out a slight sigh of relief.
He retorted with an eyeroll, “We'll sort it out later, or maybe you want to project your primordial spirit into the Spatial Magic Artifact and pick some items?”
On hearing this, Drexel shivered involuntarily.
Rolling his eyes, he retorted, “I don't ever want to go back to that place.”
With Drexel's assistance, the forthcoming journey to the northern border felt naturally relaxed.
Thus, Ethan Smith and Drexel left the Burke Family Cave, intending to return and reconvene with Gregory Hum and the others.
Meanwhile, at the northern border.
Ken Middleton stood on the opposite side of the dead river, glaring coldly at the opposing shore.
It had been eerily silent for the past few days, with no one daring to venture towards the northern border.
But the silence was occasionally broken by strange disturbances.
These disturbances, borne from the northern border, made Ken Middleton's heart increasingly uneasy.
“It's time to depart,” Ken Middleton murmured in a low tone.
Monk Theo Miller at his side responded, “Even if you cross the dead river, are you confident in defeating the Lord of North Plain? Conditions there will surely suppress your power.”
“Even if I can't, at least I can delay his revival,” Ken Middleton affirmed resolutely.
Monk Theo Miller sighed slightly and said, “Once you go, you'll never be able to come back…”
“The moment I made this decision, I never expected to return alive,” Ken Middleton replied, turning to face Monk Theo Miller.
His facial disguise began to peel off bit by bit, revealing a face blooming with a radiant smile.
“If I die, please arrange a tombstone for me.”
Picking up fragments of the broken mask from the ground, Ken Middleton passed them over to Monk Theo Miller.
Monk Theo Miller clasped his hands in prayer, seemingly bidding a silent farewell to Ken Middleton.
At this moment, an extremely powerful Qi Jin emanated from Ken Middleton.
This Qi Jin was unimaginably stronger compared to when he was in battles before; it was almost as though divine dragons were swirling around him.
This represented a manifestation of his incredibly potent life essence, specifically designed to resist erosion from the dead river.
In the next moment, Ken Middleton ceased his hesitation. He gently raised his foot and stepped into the dead river.
“Hiss!”
The moment his foot made contact with the dead river, white smoke started to billow around Ken Middleton's feet!
As if being eroded, an unbearable pain surged through his hands!
But what shocked all was that Ken Middleton's face didn't show even a hint of distress.
His stern profile was deeply moving.
As Ken Middleton submerged himself into the dead river, surges of white gas became even more evident, as if boiling water was evaporating into steam.
Monk Theo Miller clasped his hands, whispering softly, “The brave man sets off, never to return…this act shall be engraved in the history of the Southern Province.”
Ken Middleton was extremely gifted, his power second only to the Leader of the Cloud Sect. If he wanted, he could journey through the Central Province at any time.
However, Ken Middleton ultimately chose a unique path, one that valued honour over life.
The North Plain.
The ground was ceaselessly trembling.
The Three Great Godly Kings stood in front of the ice mountain where the Lord of North Plain slept, silently praying for their lord.
“Have you been to the Cloud Sect?” Simon Ingram coldly asked.
“We have,” responded one of the Godly Kings.
Simon Ingram sneered, “So one person died, is it?”
The two Godly Kings remained silent, seemingly conscious of their folly.
Simon Ingram continued, “You two think that your trip to the Cloud Sect was fruitless.”
“The Leader of the Cloud Sect wasn't even on Cultivation Mountain,” added one of the Godly Kings.
“His power exceeded our imagination. I suspect he has reached the Reversion Void Stage,” the other Godly King sighed.
Simon Ingram's expression turned frosty as he said, “When our lord revives, he will take revenge for you, and make you pay for your stupidity.”
Even then, the earth began to tremble again! The ice mountain in front of them was constantly quivering, with massive chunks of ice tumbling down!
“At this pace, our lord should revive soon,” theorised one of the Godly Kings.
“At least two months,” Simon Ingram speculated.
“We should perhaps expedite the process,” declared another Godly King in a grave tone.
The revival of the Lord of North Plain required a massive amount of energy drawn from the spiritual power and true energy of cultivators.
Over the years, the North Plain had expended countless amounts of energy for their lord, allowing him to show signs of reviving.
Now, the moment their lord would revive was finally approaching.
Just then, the sound of footsteps echoed through the snow, indicating the arrival of someone.
Three figures swiftly turned their heads towards the sound.
A black-robed figure could be seen approaching.
Simon Ingram's expression flickered as he asked with a cold tone, “What brings you here?”
The black-robed man quickly replied, “Lord Simon Ingram, there's a problem. Somebody is trying to cross the dead river!”
“Crossing the dead river?” Upon hearing this, all three faces drained of colour!
It was common knowledge that the dead river was impossible to cross!
“Lead us there, quickly!”
The three figures didn't dare to waste any time, immediately dashing toward the border.
Upon reaching the border, they saw a figure trudging through the water in the dead river.
Almost all flesh from his body had been eroded, yet his face was devoid of agony. Instead, it was filled with determination.
“Who is that?!” Their eyebrows furrowed as they scrutinized the figure in the dead river.
But, when they saw the face clearly, chills ran down their spines!
This face was a nightmare for all three. They all had horrifying experiences with the Leader of the Cloud Sect!
“The…the Leader of the Cloud Sect!” Simon Ingram was the first one to stammer out.
The other two Godly Kings were also struck with disbelief!
“How…how could he cross the dead river? Is he here for revenge?”
“I told you not to go to the Cloud Sect, you didn't listen and now you've attracted this calamity!” Simon Ingram snapped in rage.
Simon Ingram was genuinely terrified of the Leader of the Cloud Sect!
“What's there to be afraid of? We don't know yet if he will make it across the dead river, and even if he does, the chances are slim that he will be able to unleash even half of his power!” One of the Godly Kings was the first to regain his composure.
“Indeed, taking into account the suppression of spiritual power by the environment of North Plain, he probably won't be able to display even a third of his abilities!” The other Godly King also came back to his senses.
“Under these conditions, even if he is the Leader of the Cloud Sect, he can't survive here anyway!”
“We should seize this opportunity for revenge!”
