Chapter 49: 49. Meeting Logan Ray Again
,"So your father is Titus..."
"Just as Madam was about to continue, a man coming briskly from not far away pulled her aside.
"Abigail!"
The man reproachfully scolded, the warning obvious in his tone.
"No, it’s she, I!" The woman named Abigail, with an urgent look, wanted to say something, but as she became more anxious, her tongue got tied. She pointed in the direction of Titus Zane, and the man also turned his head, his expression visibly shocked, his stern brows widening.
Turning back, he scolded the woman before him harshly.
"You forgot the family teachings!"
"I haven’t forgotten, but that is clearly Nathan’s daughter!"
Seeing Mia Foster walking arm in arm with Titus Zane in another direction, Abigail was so agitated she nearly jumped up and down, pointing at the retreating figure of Titus Zane, saying, "Are you planning to let her recognize another woman as her mother forever!"
The man glared at Abigail fiercely, his teeth gritted, "If you dare, go jump in front of the old man!"
With that, he left Abigail behind.
"You really don’t recognize that woman?" Mia Foster, walking arm in arm with Titus Zane, asked as they walked.
Titus Zane shook his head, "Don’t know her."
Mia Foster looked at her face and moved her lips slightly, finally deciding not to continue this topic.
Titus Zane led Mia Foster towards the painting of the young girl they talked about, just turned around the corridor, and saw a familiar figure in front of the painting, talking to two men.
Titus Zane’s steps faltered, her heart trembling as well.
Logan...
"What’s wrong?" Mia Foster noticed her unusual behavior and turned to look at her.
"Ah, it’s nothing." Titus Zane smiled faintly, masking her emotions well.
"Really nothing?"
Titus Zane smiled again and shook her head.
Mia Foster looked ahead at Logan Ray explaining the oil painting to visitors, shook her head silently, but smiled and said, "Let’s go, where is the painting you were talking about earlier? Let’s take a look."
Mia Foster is a woman with intricate thoughts, appearing careless but actually clever, a postdoctoral fellow in economics from a renowned university. How could she have managed that if her mind were simple?
Moreover, she knew some of Titus Zane’s situation, not because she was nosy, but she had seen Nathan Moore overly concerned about his "sister-in-law" during the engagement banquet, so she asked her parents out of curiosity.
When she learned that Titus Zane sat in the wedding car on behalf of her sister to avoid family disgrace, Mia Foster not only admired her sense of responsibility but felt she was foolish as well; if it were her, she would never joke about her lifetime happiness.
"Alright." Titus Zane and Mia Foster walked to the painting together.
"This is the one." Seeing Logan Ray standing there, Titus Zane had already guessed who the painter was, no wonder she found the painting style so familiar earlier.
However, seeing him explaining to the visitors, she did not interrupt.
Hearing a familiar voice from behind, Logan Ray’s back stiffened, his hands hanging by his sides tightened unconsciously, managing to muster a forced smile.
"You’re here," two words seemed casually distant but were laden with many emotions.
"Yes," Titus Zane curved her lips, unconsciously raising her hand to cover the scar on her forehead, thankful that her bangs hid it from view.
"Just happened to meet a friend and thought of picking a few paintings for collection."
Only then did Logan Ray shift his gaze to Mia Foster beside Titus Zane, who looked at him inquiringly.
Logan Ray politely nodded in greeting.
Mia Foster also smiled and nodded, immediately extending her right hand warmly.
"Hello."
Intuition told her that the relationship between these two was not simple.
