Chapter 48, Xiao Nuo
Chapter 48: 48, Xiao Nuo
"Aiya, never mind, regardless of whether it has any collectible value, if I like it, I’ll bid on it!" Mia Foster was clearly impulsive, dragging Titus Zane along, turning around, and walking forward again, while continuously muttering to herself.
"Do you know? That jerk Felix Shaw belittled me for not having feminine charm, nor an artistic sense. Today I’m going to prove to him that I indeed have an artistic sense!"
Mia Foster said fiercely, and then suddenly stopped, tightened her grip on Titus Zane’s wrist that she was holding, and said seriously, "Whether we can get Felix depends on you now!"
Titus Zane...
Suddenly felt a sense of heavy responsibility upon her.
Only that—
She and Mia Foster were not familiar with each other.
Before she had a chance to speak, she heard Mia Foster say, "I trust your judgment. You’re in the arts, so you definitely have a better eye than a profiteer like me."
That remark made Titus Zane both want to laugh and cry.
Though the phrase ’no merchant without guile’ exists, being so straightforward in using such a derogatory term for oneself could also be seen as a form of candor.
Titus Zane suddenly realized that Mia Foster was quite straightforward, not like her sister Olivia Zane, who on the surface said one thing but behind the back had another face.
With a faint smile, Titus Zane agreed, "Alright, if you trust my eye, I will help you pick a few."
"Of course, I trust you!"
The two women slowly selected paintings in the exhibition hall corridor,
Mia Foster said she wanted to choose a few that looked aesthetically pleasing, with a touch of Romanticism, to avoid Felix Shaw laughing at her again.
Speaking of aesthetics and romance, Titus Zane suddenly remembered the portrait of the young girl she had seen just now and turned to suggest it to Mia Foster.
"I just saw a portrait sketch that was quite good. You could tell from the painting that the artist had great skill. Maybe they’re not famous now, but the painting should have considerable collectible value."
Titus Zane judged that the artist of the painting was not well-known based on the starting price listed under the painting.
Usually, works by famous artists start at six figures, but that painting was only at five.
"Let’s go take a look."
Mia Foster said generously.
"Okay," Titus Zane led Mia Foster towards the direction of the portrait of the young girl. As they turned around, they almost bumped into a middle-aged woman.
"I’m sorry," Titus Zane said with an apologetic smile, and when the woman looked up and saw Titus Zane’s face, her expression clearly paused, then turned to delight.
"Nelly!"
"Sorry, madam, you’ve mistaken me for someone else."
Titus Zane smiled gently.
"How could that be?" The Madam said incredulously, excitement and joy on her well-kept face, as she held onto Titus Zane’s arm and looked her up and down twice. Suddenly remembering something, she smacked her forehead and said.
"Look at my memory, how could you be Nelly at your age," and before giving Titus Zane a chance to speak, still holding her arm, she looked at her with surprise.
"You are Nelly’s daughter, aren’t you?"
"Madam, you’ve mistaken me for someone else," Titus Zane explained again with a smile. She didn’t know any Nelly, which sounded like it could be a name, but her mother was Ariana Evans. How could she be the daughter of the "Nelly" the Madam was talking about?
"I’m not Nelly’s daughter, my mother’s last name is Evans."
"Aiya, look at me getting all flustered, when I get anxious I forget everything." The middle-aged Madam said excitedly, though her words came out a bit disjointed.
