Chapter 420: Chapter 420: Contraceptives (5) Chapter 420: Chapter 420: Contraceptives (5) Lu Wanwan stopped speaking when she heard that term, feeling a bit nervous.
She and Gu Annan were already considered married, but she had not formally met his parents yet.
The only time she had seen his father was at the engagement party, and before she had a chance to speak, Gu Annan had whisked her away.
She had heard from Aunt Li about Gu Annan’s parents and knew roughly that since Gu Annan had taken over Gu Enterprises, his uncle had comfortably taken his aunt around the world, fading out of the Gu’s business empire.
Was this sudden call because they found out about Gu Annan and her preemptively getting their marriage license?
“Understood, I’m heading back now.”
After listening to the phone for a while, Gu Annan responded with a simple sentence and then hung up.
Turning to look at Lu Wanwan, her eyes appeared a bit tense, “Was it your father?”
Although it was Gu Annan’s decision to act first and report later, the suggestion to get married was hers. Would his parents think that a desperate daughter keen on marrying into the Gu family wasn’t suitable for their outstanding son, so they scolded him?
She couldn’t hear what was said on the phone, but the tone seemed somewhat fierce.
“What are you afraid of? The scolding was for me,” Gu Annan saw her holding a box of miscellaneous items. Though not heavy, its large size made it appear very cumbersome, “Do you still want the things?”
Lu Wanwan hesitated, and he took the box from her.
She remembered that some of her work summaries were in that notebook, which she needed to use when writing her internship report, so she planned to organize them when she got back.
“Were you scolded because of… that matter?”
Gu Annan’s eyes narrowed slightly, “Which matter?”
“The matter of getting the marriage certificate yesterday.” She followed him into the elevator, biting her lip, “If you were scolded, you could say it was my idea.”
“My parents are already at the Gu Mansion,” he said slowly, “Since you are so righteous, then speak for yourself.”
Lu Wanwan: “…” They landed in Manchester so quickly, it seemed his parents were really angry.
She became especially quiet the whole way, and Gu Annan didn’t point it out, watching her worry about how to explain to his parents.
Actually, his father was upset that such joyful news wasn’t shared immediately to make his mother happy.
He wasn’t worried that his parents wouldn’t like Lu Wanwan, since there was a verbal marriage agreement made by his grandfather, and his parents and Ye Jing had met her several times before.
More importantly, as long as Lu Wanwan stepped forward and admitted the marriage was her idea, that alone would be enough to win his parents’ favor.
The only conflict was that his parents felt marriage wasn’t enough, while Lu Wanwan probably didn’t want children.

Before entering the Gu Mansion, a servant took the box of miscellaneous items from Gu Annan’s hand.
Lu Wanwan held him back before he entered the door, saying urgently, “Wait, is it okay for me to meet your parents like this?”
Gu Annan was very casual, hands in his pockets, appearing indifferent.
He scanned her from top to bottom, “It’s fine.”
Lu Wanwan took a deep breath, and before reaching the door, she whispered to him, “Then… if your parents aren’t happy, could you say a few words for me?”
Gu Annan raised an eyebrow, giving her a sidelong glance, “Weren’t you afraid I’d be scolded?”
Her eyes blinked nervously, and finally, her head drooped as she gritted her teeth, “Never mind, I’ll handle it!”
It was just about convincing his parents to accept the marriage, she could manage that–could she not handle such a small matter?
She didn’t believe there was anyone in the world harder to figure out and deal with than Gu Annan!
