Chapter 42: I DON’T HAVE A BOYFRIEND

Lisa was shocked to hear that. She froze in her place, before blinking her eyes rapidly and said, "Dove! Are you being serious?" She looked at Dove’s face who looked back at her with helplessness in her eyes, and glistening tears in them.

"Oh my God! See, darling! Though, technically I should be happy for you. But I am so sorry, I can’t! We have just completed our high school, and not even joined university! And you are just eighteen!" Lisa exclaimed. She paced to and fro, then looking at Dove, she asked anxiously, "Dove! Did you tell your boy friend?"

Dove, who was quiet and blank, sitting on the bed, she raised her eyes to look at Lisa. A tear fell from her eyes, and she sighed, "L- Lisa. The truth is that, I- I don’t have a boyfriend!"

"What!!" Lisa almost exclaimed at the top of the voice. She rushed to where Dove was sitting and sat in front of her holding her hand and looked at her with her own eyes shaking, "Dove, what do you mean by that? Did you not tell me and everyone that you had spent that night with a man who you like? The one Roan had caught you with?!"

Dove nodded her eyes, as tears fell from her eyes, and she softly sobbed. "I did say that to you and everyone else. B- But Lisa, the truth is that it was a lie! I don’t know who the man is."

Lisa was bewildered, but Dove explained everything to her, how she had lied to everyone because she did not want to be seen as someone who is weak and vulnerable.

Lisa listened to everything she had to say, and she herself broke into tears, "Oh my Dove!" she hugged Dove tightly and rubbed her back. "It’s Alright! It’s alright! I am here with you, okay. I am here. You don’t have to worry about anything I am always here with you."

After a while, when they had cooled down, Lisa coaxed Dove for a while, before she asked, "Dove, do you know who the man is? I mean should we try finding him?"

Dove shook her head and said, "Initially I just wanted to forget about whatever happened. But then, I realised that I should have at least known how was that man. But I had missed seeing his face, because I was scared and not in the right state of mind. After that I even went back to the hotel and checked the CCTV footage to find out who it was. But suspiciously, that footage for the whole night was just lost. It was as if it did not exist in the first place. I don’t know anything else, Lisa."

Lisa sighed, and she nodded, "I can understand." She looked at Dove and after a while, said, "What should we do know?"

"I have no idea at all. I don’t even know how to break this news to grandpa. Would he hate me?" Dove would not normally show her fears to anyone. But now, she was scared. In front of Lisa, who knew everything, but did not judge her, but being supportive, she could finally be a little herself. It was not as if Dove was scared of the world. But she was worried only about her grandfather. The only one true family left of hers. She cared for whatever he thought about her.

"Dove? What do you think about... an abortion?" Lisa proposed quietly. Dove raised her head to look at Lisa. She opened her mouth to speak, but then said nothing, and lowered her head. Lisa sighed and pulled Dove back into a hug. She understood what she was thinking. "I am booking an appointment for you tomorrow."

Late at night, on the other side of the world. Dante came back home. He loosened his tie and threw it away on the couch, before sitting down. He had just closed his eyes, and thought about the day. It was hectic. He had rushed to see his father. He was definitely very severely injured. And after hours of treatment, his condition is a little stabilized, yet he is still in Coma, as his vitals received some injuries. And not only that, but even they had a few problems in the company, as a couple of competitors created some ptrouble. But for now, Dante had kept it under control.

Dante sighed and he rubbed his face, before staring at the ceiling. Just then Calix walked into the room, and he called, "Boss. There is an urgent news." Dante, still staring at the ceiling, replied, "What is it, Calix?" He was expecting another brewing trouble at any corner, as he reached out for the glass of water, that the butler had put on the table beside him.

Calix went silent for a while, as if preparing himself mentally, "Boss, Miss Dove," Hearing Dove’s name, Dante frowned a little, and then sat straight looking at him, and asked, "What happen to her?" He immediately went into alert mode.

"Boss, she is pregnant."

"..." And what followed Calix’s words were pin drop silence. Dante stared at Calix blankly as if everything that he said went from far above his head. But Calix knew that he heard him very loud and clear. And he further added. "With your child."

CLANK!

The glass fell from his hand as his grip lossened on the glass and broke. While, Dante continued staring at Calix without flinching. His words were ringing in his ears and mind like a mantra. ’She is pregnant. She is pregnant with your child.’

Calix’s words echoed in his head. And only after what seemed like forever, did he finally react. And a smile appeared on his lips, "I- I am going to be a father?" He suddenly had a strange emotion welling in his heart. He had been waiting for a while, and was now going to make a decision to go approach her. But the news now came as a golden light!
