Dove looked at Jacob as he spoke with her hands folded, and her face void of any much expression or urgency, like she was listening to a child blabber rubbish. She saw how Noah spoke, trying to avert the topic, but unsurprisingly the topic did not get averted, as she understood that everyone was curious about it. But she also understood what was Jacob trying to pull.

Now everyone turned to look at Dove, hearing her chuckle, they saw her shrug while staring straight at Jacob as she said, "I am sorry for laughing. Actually, I just found it very funny when I heard you say that you know that you have some responsibility towards the company. It was... um, surprising, I must say."

Jacob squinted his eyes and sneered, "Wow, Miss Dove, you must be really very capable for having the Davis’s gift you ten percent of their shares from the company. If my memory serves right, as long as I remember, you don’t seem to have a very good relationship with the Davis’s for them to be so generous to you."

Dove raised her eyebrows in amusement, before she sneered and said, "Who told you, Mr Jacob, that the Davis’s gifted me these shares. It is gifted by me to the company. Initially, I was planning to have it under my name individually, but then I thought it would be better under the company. So here it is." Anyways, both were hers.

The people in the room looked at Dove, in speechlessness, and for a moment they did not know how to react. And Jacob gritted his teeth with a frown on his face. This woman!

And just before he could open his mouth to speak something else, Dove said before, "And as you asked how I myself acquired these," answering his main question, Dove smiled sweetly once more, then saying, "I never said that I applied fair means to get it, everyone."

"Yes. Why are all of you looking in such shock at me? All I said is the truth. Or do you think that the Davis’s are such level generous or idiots, to gift these to me? Of course, I applied underhand methods." Hearing Dove say all these, like that, the people there, did not know what should they do next. Initially, they were still rejoicing and were happy about the huge asset gain, that the company had. But now listening to Dove say it like that- what do you mean by ’like that’?- like a thug, their confidence lowered.

And now they were consumed with only one fear, what if `it all went downhill and would affect the company’s reputation? And if such a thing happened so, then they all will be going down together! And nothing good would happen about it.

Jacob himself was taken aback for a good few seconds. When he was putting the subtle blames on Dove, he did not expect her to take up the blames so boldly on herself. It was like, yes, I did apply unfair means, so what are you going to do about it?!
