Chapter 165: HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE IT?

Dove looked at her wrist watch, and just when it was exactly the time to commence the meeting, she stood up, and faced everyone who were already present there, and went silently sitting in the room. A few of them, who were initially had been walking slowly and leisurely to the meeting room hastened their pace, after their fellow colleagues messaged them, that the Boss was already in the room, and she did not look very pleased about something.

Well, it was not that Dove was really mad about something, maybe she was a little, but all in all, she had a lot going in her mind and she was thinking about it. And the main topic was – Dante.

And one thing about Dove was that, she had a very seriously bitchy looking resting face. While she zones out in her own thoughts unaware of her own expressions, her face screams for others- ’Utter a wrong word, and you are dead’.

Jacob and Noren who were also there in the same room, looked at Dove, as Jacob frowned seeing that look on her face, and thought to himself, "What might she be thinking? She isn’t planning something outrageous again, is she?"

And now, that it was time, Dove looked at everyone’s face, and said, "Let’s start the meeting." Then looking at Grace and signalling her, she looked back at them and said, "Good morning everyone, as you all know that our company has some newly gained assets. And also, we have revived the the projects that we had put on hold, and we will be taking it up as per previously discussed. So, as you all know, there are some changes in the initial plan, and that is what we will be discussing about today."

Grace had by now started the projector, and was in control of the slides while Dove explained the room full of executives, what were the upcoming course of plan with the projects and the company.

Everyone listened to her very attentively, and would also ask questions in intervals about a little doubts that they would have, which Dove addressed accordingly.

By the end of the presentation, the majority of the people in that meeting room were satisfied with Dove and her plans, and they were ready to go according to what she said.

And a few had some more doubts or mismatch of thoughts. And amongst them was Jacob, well not about profession, because he too knew deep inside that whatever Dove had come up with was really impressive.

But for now, he had something else in mind. Just before Dove could end the meeting, he spoke gaining all the attention to himself, "CEO Dove, about the ten percent shares that our company currently hold right now of the Davis Enterprise, would you like to explain to us, who get you bag it in one night? After all, getting ten percent shares at once isn’t a small thing."

And just when he said that, all other people slightly raised their eyebrows and Noah who was also present among them, frowned slightly. He already knew that this man was up to start a new drama and a possible problem for Dove. Noren too glanced at his dad, and then at Dove, before he pressed his lips, and just decided to be a spectator like others. Though, he did not want to get implicated in it, he was also very much interested in knowing where this would lead, after having a idea what his father was thinking of.

And before Dove could say anything, it was Noah who spoke first, as he kept his elbows on the table, interlocking his fingers and leaning slightly forward, "Why Mr Jacob? Forgive me, if I am wrong, but why do I hear your tone as someone who is not very pleased about it? Don’t you like it that the company got some new asset, that would likely increase our net revenue?"

Jacob glared at Noah, who had a curious smile on his face, and he internally scoffed. He already never liked this adopted boy in that family! Specially when Noah, in spite of having no direct blood connection with the family held a higher position than his son. And he said, "It is not that I am not happy about it, why would I not be? But as a person who has a partly responsibility for the company, do we not deserve to know what good and fair means had our CEO applied to get those shares? And one thing that I am very disappointed about is that, the CEO has taken such a big decision yet had not felt it something to discuss with any of us?"

Noah almost resisted the poking urge to roll in eyes. So much for him to say those big words. But he did not say anything, because somewhere down the line he was right with that.

And seeing that Noah had nothing to refute with, Jacob smirked. One thing he knew about Davis’s was that, they were not generous people. They would even hesitate to donate a penny to a homeless person, let alone give away ten percent to the total company’s shares just like that.

And now that it was brought up, the other people in the room also nodded their heads. Since the morning that they heard about it, they were honestly baffled. Because, though they would put their thoughts in the category of disappointment like how Jacob said, but it was a matter of thought. After all, if Sterling Corporations would have brought those shares from the Davis’s, without informing them it perhaps would have been some issue, but the Davis’s had just written off those shares, that too from the personal shares that Philip and Roan Davis owned, as if gifting it to someone or writing away in a will.

While all of them had an idea that what happened was not simply out of happiness. And a lot of them had come up with a theory that maybe it was because Dove had denied to continue with the projects, that the Davis’s had agreed. But it still sounded absurd, because at the end it was still their loss. And no businessman in the right state of their minds would do it. So, what did Dove actually do that had the Davis cooperate with her so readily.

And though, somewhere they were a little worried about it too, because if it went wrong, then it would implicate the goodwill of the whole company in the upcoming times. But then they also couldn’t help but be happy. After all, it was a profit for them too, if the company’s assets increased. And at the end of the day, who doesn’t like good free things.
