Chapter 130: YOU ARE CROSSING LIMITS, CEO PHILIP
Chapter 130: YOU ARE CROSSING LIMITS, CEO PHILIP
Later, while exercising, Gavi had quietly made a pact with Dante while his mom and great-grandpa weren’t listening. "Uncle Dante, how about you let me sleep tomorrow? I’m talking about a day off, alright? I have to enjoy my chocolate chip dream!"
Dante blinked at him and resisted the urge to laugh. Was that dream really so important?
Coming back to the present, Gavi and Dante shared a knowing look. Gavi pouted while Dante had a smile on his lips.
Gavi sighed and, pouting his lips, thought, It’s alright. It seems I’ll have to complete my dreams later. Now I really have to exercise more seriously every day. But then, thinking about it, it wasn’t a bad thing. After all, he really, really wanted to be strong and have a body like Dante.
Moreover, now he had an additional image to present in front of his friends! He imagined their reactions and grinned, already picturing how impressed they would be if he could show off his progress. The idea excited him, and his earlier disappointment faded slightly.
As the three happily enjoyed their lunch, Dove received a phone call. It was from Grace. She raised an eyebrow and answered.
"Ma’am, something is up." Dove heard urgency in Grace’s voice, and she was intrigued. The fact that Grace hadn’t come up and was calling instead meant she was occupied.
"What is it?" Dove asked as she heard background noise.
"Ma’am, CEO Davis and Sir Roan are here. They want to see you. They have come over without any prior notice. They they seem furious, especially CEO Philip." Her voice dipped slightly, as if she were whispering to keep others from listening.
Hearing that, Dove’s eyebrows raised in surprise. They’re here already? Couldn’t even wait anymore? Seeing such desperation, she wasn’t sure whether to be amused or shocked.
"Boss, are you there?" Grace called for Dove again.
Dove hummed in response and asked, "Yes, I am. Where are they right now?"
Grace replied, "We currently have them waiting in the executive lounge. I told them you aren’t available right now and that I was trying to reach you."
Grace said this because Dove had previously instructed her to leave the Davis’ to their own devices. But now that they were here— something they hadn’t expected at all— she wasn’t sure what to do. Moreover, Grace knew Dove liked to take a break at this time, either to pick up her son from or to have lunch if she had no pressing work scheduled.
Hearing Grace’s answer, Dove hummed in satisfaction and nodded. "You did well, Grace. Keep them waiting there and tell them I’m not in my office. If they insist on waiting, tell them I took a half- day, and you don’t know my whereabouts. Alright?"
Dove spoke casually, making the woman on the other end of the call blink in astonishment. Wow. This was the first time she had ever seen Dove deliberately ghost someone so blatantly— and never had she done this to professional clients. That only made her wonder what kind of conflict the Davis’ had with her.
But that wasn’t her business. Dove didn’t have anything urgent scheduled today, and she could carry on with her plans. The Davis’ didn’t have access to barge into her office.
And when Dove wanted to leave, she could simply use her private executive elevator to get to the parking area before exiting the building.
So if Dove decided to ignore and avoid them, it was easy for her.
Taking a deep breath, Grace nodded before replying, "Yes, Ma’am." Then, she hung up and turned around.
Meanwhile, Dove turned her attention back to her food. When she raised her head, she saw Dante looking at her.
He asked softly, "Is everything alright?"
Hearing his question, Dove chuckled before nodding. "Yes. Everything is perfectly fine."
---
Meanwhile, in the waiting lounge, CEO Davis, Roan Davis, and their assistants sat on the couches, their expressions grim.
They had been waiting for about fifteen minutes, yet aside from Dove’s secretary, Dove herself hadn’t even shown her face.
A few hours ago, they had discovered that Sterling Corporation had severed all professional ties with them, throwing the company into chaos. Especially since they had several crucial, high-stakes collaborations and projects in the near future.
And the news had sent CEO Davis into a rage.
How was he supposed to take this?!
Worse still, no one had contacted them or given them a proper explanation.
And the most frustrating part? Dove— the CEO herself— had practically vanished!
Not only was she ignoring them, but even her assistant and Director Noah had nothing to say!
It is as if they were trying to imply that it did not matter to them even at the least!
Roan and Mr. Davis kept their eyes on Grace, who stood behind the glass wall, speaking on the phone. She had told them Dove wasn’t in her office and that she would try to reach her.
When Grace finally hung up and turned back, their eyes sharpened, and their postures straightened instinctively.
Grace stepped into the waiting room, her expression unreadable.
She glanced at the executives who were also present, having gathered due to the Davis’ chaotic entry.
Though the executives weren’t pleased with how things had unfolded, they trusted Dove. According to Director Noah and Grace, Dove wouldn’t take a drastic decision without thinking it through.
Even the senior executives, who had worked with Dove since her internship under Senior Sterling and later as Managing Director of the international branch, reassured the others.
If Dove made a decision, it had to be for the company’s benefit or because it was absolutely necessary.
So, everyone chose to trust the process she had set.
When their eyes met Grace’s, they exchanged slight nods, equally curious about the situation.
Grace then looked at the Davis father-and-son duo before speaking.
"CEO Philip, Sir Roan, I apologize, but you cannot meet CEO Dove today. She isn’t in her office right now." she said with a straight face.
"What?!" Philip Davis exclaimed, barely containing his anger.
His teeth clenched as he spat, "What do you mean she isn’t in her office?! Where the hell did she go?! Does she think she can just disappear after creating this mess?! Is this how she plans to run the company? Is this what she’s learned all this time? Does she even understand the weight of her position?!
"And you! What are you even here for?! You don’t know where your own CEO is?! What kind of irresponsible assistant are you?!"
After ranting, Philip breathed heavily, his face red with anger—and rising blood pressure.
Meanwhile, Grace remained unfazed, though her expression turned colder.
Even the executives and higher-ups, who had gathered after hearing the commotion, looked at Philip with disapproval.
Grace didn’t respond immediately, simply watching Philip as he grumbled. Roan Davis, though silent, looked like he had plenty to say as well.
After a moment, she finally spoke.
"I’m sorry to interrupt you, Mr. Davis. But what you’re saying now is crossing the boundaries of professional ethics and workplace culture."
Her voice was sharp but calm, and the room instantly fell silent.
Philip Davis stiffened, his mind registering the fact that a mere assistant had dared to talk back to him. His demeanor darkened.
Normally, Philip was a reserved man who exerted dominance without raising his voice.
But with billion-dollar projects at stake and the Sterling Corporation backing out, his anger had reached its limit.
"What did you just say?!" he demanded, disbelief and fury lacing his voice.
Grace, as composed as ever, met his gaze and replied,
"Exactly what I said, CEO Philip."
"..."
"CEO Philip, CEO Dove can do what even she wants in her personal life without giving me any clarification. Moreover, it is her position, and I don’t think you have any right to question me how she does her work and how I do my work. I am not a person working under you, Mr Philip. So you absolutely do not have any right to critisism me based on how I handle my professional matters.
It is you and your people who had come here without any prior notice. Because, apparently Miss Dove had no prior commitments today. So she has no need to give explanation to anyone when she has her own personal work to do too.
And as being a distinguished guests, it is up to you if you want to keep on waiting, or if you would schedule a proper appointment with Miss Dove, according to both the party’s time.
