Chapter 128: GAVI’S ACCOMPLISHMENT
As Soha was taken away, Gavi stood there, hands on his hips, a proud smile on his face. He felt a warm sense of accomplishment, knowing he had done something good for his friend.
After a little while, Soha’s wounds were dressed, and the little kids, along with Gavi and Aron, gathered around her, all asking if she was alright. Their concerned faces showed just how much they cared for their friend.
"Soha, Soha, is your leg alright? Or is it still hurting?" Aron asked eagerly, his brows furrowed in worry.
Gavi, too, looked at her with concern and asked, "Are you feeling better?"
Soha looked up at her friends and smiled before saying, "Yes, I am feeling much better than before. The teacher applied ointment on my wound, and now it doesn’t hurt as much as before."
Hearing that, they all sighed in relief. The tension in their small shoulders eased as they exchanged glances, reassured that their friend was okay. Then Soha turned to look at Gavi and said with a smile, "And Gavriel, thank you so much for carrying me to the medical room. Otherwise, my leg would have hurt even more. Thank you so much, Gavriel."
Gavi smiled at the little girl, and just when he was about to tell her that she was welcome, Aron suddenly clapped his hands and squealed, "Yes! Gavriel! You were so cool down there! My goodness!"
Gavi turned toward Aron and was momentarily blinded by the excitement shining in his friend’s eyes. It was almost as if Aron had discovered a superhero among them.
Gavi blinked in surprise as he saw Aron staring at him with a bright, shiny gaze, both little hands clasped together.
"Eh?"
The little boy giggled and stepped closer, saying, "Gavriel, Gavriel! I didn’t know you were so cool! How did you become so strong?? You looked like a hero back there!"
Before he knew it, a few other boys had gathered around Gavi, their eyes sparkling with admiration.
Now, suddenly being the center of attention and hearing himself being called cool, Gavi felt his cheeks warming up. He rubbed his nose and giggled, "Hihi. It’s actually not a big deal."
The truth was, Gavi was naturally taller than the other kids, and when he saw Soha in pain, he instinctively felt that he was strong enough to carry her. So, he acted on his intuition. Thankfully, he was right.
But right now, looking at the bright faces of the little boys in front of him, Gavi felt that he definitely had to give them a good answer.
He smiled sheepishly, rubbed the back of his head, and said, "Actually, the thing is that..." He trailed off, and the other boys leaned in closer, eager to hear his response, making him break out into invisible sweat.
"Haha! Actually, I train and exercise every morning with my dad!" he blurted out so fast it was as if his tongue was racing against time.
The other kids blinked in surprise before gasping and exclaiming, "Wow! You train every morning with your dad? Really?!"
Gavi nodded his head, smiling awkwardly. It was true that he exercised with Dante every morning, and since his friends already believed Dante was his father, he simply went with the flow.
So, technically, he wasn’t lying. That was the justification he made up in his mind.
Aron blinked before turning to the others and saying, "Haven’t you all seen that day when Gavriel’s dad and mom dropped him off on his first day at school? His dad looked so cool! I’m sure he teaches Gavriel a lot of things! That’s why he’s so strong!"
Gavi blinked at them before laughing along with them. Surely, he was turning into the popular kid among them. He didn’t think too much about it. What made him feel giddy was the fact that his friends were praising him for being strong!
For a moment, Gavi let himself bask in their admiration. He never really thought of himself as someone remarkable, but today, standing in front of his friends, he felt a little different. Maybe, just maybe, he was stronger than he thought.
---
"And that’s what happened! I told them that I’m strong because I exercise with Da— cough Uncle Dante every day!" Gavi said happily as he recalled the events of the day.
Dove and Dante listened to his excited story, and when he finished, Dove patted his head and said encouragingly, "My good son! You must always help those in need, you understand, baby?"
Gavi nodded his head eagerly, a warm feeling settling in his chest. His mother’s praise meant the world to him.
Dove smiled at her son before caressing his head and then gently touching his shoulders. "So, is your back aching a little, baby?" she asked.
As his mother, she understood things he didn’t even need to say. Although Gavi had carried the little girl and was now excitedly sharing the story, Dove knew her son’s limits. He had probably done it due to the adrenaline rush, but at the end of the day, he was just a little boy like his friends.
She smiled at him and rubbed his back gently. Gavi blinked at his mother before pursing his lips. His nose turned slightly red as he looked away and nodded shyly. "A little, Momma."
He couldn’t lie. Because honestly, afterward, he did feel soreness in his shoulders and back.
Hearing her son admit it so adorably, Dove giggled before rubbing his head and saying, "Alright. Then I’ll give you an oil massage later, okay?"
The little boy nodded happily, feeling comforted by his mother’s warmth.
Just then, Dante’s voice chimed in. "Then from tomorrow onwards, we’re going to train and exercise more, Gavi."
The moment Gavi heard that, he froze.
He literally froze before slowly turning his head toward Dante in awkward horror. Wait— What?!
Dante looked at the little boy with a mischievous smile and raised an eyebrow. "Since you’ve already built a strong-boy image in front of your friends, you have to keep up with it. Right, Gavi?"
Gavi gulped before pouting slightly. As if he had no other choice, he nodded with a sigh.
Thinking about the events of the day, Gavi sighed in defeat again. This was not what he had expected when he tried to impress his friends!
Still, deep inside, he felt happy. Because for the first time, he felt like he had done something truly worthwhile.
