Beta Damien’s pov,

It had been ten minutes and no sign of Anders anywhere.

It wasn’t getting funny to me anymore.

Anders wasn’t a strong kid. Assuming he was strong, his scent ought to linger, even if a little bit, around the environment.

In that way, I would have been able to track him.

’I have a bad feeling about this, Damien. You should return to the hotel and check the CCTV footage. If nothing had happened to Anders, you would see him walking out of the hotel room on his own through the CCTV footage. But if he is not spotted on the CCTV footage camera, that would mean only one thing’.

"The demon returned, possessed his body, and then disappeared, leaving not a single trace".

’Correct, Damien. According to my own understanding, that demon that attacked earlier was the one after Anders. Didn’t you hear him call Anders’ name when he attacked? But I don’t believe that the demon returned. Wasn’t he injured?’. Darren replied to me and I found myself slapping my forehead in disappointment.

I really should have woken up the kid and taken him with me.

If Alpha Anastasia wakes up and finds out that something bad might have happened to the kid whom she was protecting from the demon, she would think that I am not a capable beta werewolf because she had left him under my watch.

"I believe that you are right, Darren. I should check the hotel’s CCTV footage and be certain that he had walked out of the hotel on his own. In that way, we would be sure that no demon had possessed his body or had taken him away". I said to him and turned around, returning to the hotel.

After returning to the hotel, I met with the manager and demanded that he take me to the CCTV room.

At first, he didn’t agree to my demands, but I had no choice but to talk sense into him.

By talking sense into him, I mean that I had to threaten him.

He did say he was going to call the police on me, but had to reconsider after I nicely whispered to him that I was going to destroy the hotel before the police arrived.

I also assured and promised him that the police wouldn’t be able to get me, and that I would be back for him.

’I was super nice and considerate, so I didn’t get why he trembled after I said all that to him. Was I too intimidating?’.

’You must be kidding me, Damien. But, I admit, he would have peed in his pants if it had been me he faced’. Darren said.

Anyway, I am now in the CCTV control room. The manager of the hotel was there as well. He was making sure that things were under control. As if he could control anything if it went out of control.

I was standing behind the young man who was controlling the CCTV footage. "Wait". I said to him, making him stop what he was doing.

My eyes were fixed on the screen, where I saw Anders coming out of the hotel room with a young lady and a young man. ’Those two, I recognize them’. I thought and dashed out of the room. Now that I had seen that Anders had left the hotel on his own, I was certain that nothing bad had happened to him, and that I would be able to find him.

But, who the heck are those two? Why was he with them?

’Damien, I have something important to say’.

’Go ahead, I am listening’.

’I know I am a rough wolf, but that doesn’t mean I am a fool. Didn’t you notice something? Anders didn’t leave with the cats. And when you searched the hotel room, the cats were nowhere to be found inside the hotel room. My instinct is telling me...’

"That young man and the young lady who had left the hotel with Anders are Alpha Anastasia’s cats, and I suspect that Alpha Anastasia is aware that they are shapeshifters. It is no wonder when I asked her if she had seen any young lady and a young man, she denied it and also said that I had hallucinated". I muttered, completing Darren’s words.

Yeah, I suspected that the cats were the young lady and the young man, but I was not certain about it.

It sounded impossible.

But, in our broken world today, I realized that anything was possible. Even a hybrid creature could talk. How was that possible?

’You know what, Damien? I don’t want you to search for the boy anymore. He’s going to be alright and will eventually return to the hotel. We just have to wait for him. When he returns, I don’t think the cats will remain in their human forms, because they might guess that we have returned and wouldn’t want us to see them as humans. So, when Anders returned to the hotel with black cats, that would confirm our suspicion that the cats were those humans, since we clearly saw that when he left the hotel room, he didn’t take any cats along with him’.

I halted, upon knowing that Darren was right.

If Anders returns to the hotel with the black cats, that means the young lady and young man whom he left with are the black cats but in human forms.

Either way, I am more convinced than ever that the young lady and the young man are the black cats.

I returned to the hotel and entered the room, making sure that the door was open.

I had to do that, because if they saw that the door was unlocked, there was no way the cats would want to enter the hotel room in their human forms. They would return to their cat forms, and then, I would catch them.

Anders left with humans. So if he returns with cats, that means the humans are the cats, and the cats are the humans.
