Chapter 146: Chapter 146) Is he possessed?/ Elder sister?

Caden’s pov,

Chase and I had left the mansion after having breakfast with our mom.

I can clearly remember how awkward and silent the atmosphere was during breakfast. What an unusual sight.

Though that didn’t stop my mom from asking Chase and me where we were going after she noticed that we were leaving the house.

"Caden and I want to take a long stroll outside, mom, in order to fully digest the story you have told us about".

That was what Chase told our mom.

Our mom instantly felt guilty and even told us to hurry up and take a stroll.

That made me understand that she didn’t have an idea that demons existed and had attacked the heart of the diamond-heart city. Because if she had known about that, she would not only prevent us from going out on a stroll, but she might go so far as to stop us from returning to school for the time being.

Our mother is an overprotective mom.

The day that Chase and I got accepted into our current university, we were thrilled because that was our very opportunity to leave our mom’s mansion and live by ourselves in an apartment that was built close to our school.

We only visited her during our school holidays and some of the weekends.

While our mom visited us most of the time to give us some homemade food she had prepared for us.

"Caden, I don’t mean to be negative, but, where the heck are we going to find our elder sister?". Chase came and stood in front of me as he said. As a result of that, I halted, since he blocked my path.

"What do you mean?". I asked him.

He breathed deeply and held my shoulders, while staring into my eyes. "From where are we going to start searching for our sister? Where could she possibly be at the moment? The hospital? President Michael’s mansion? Or where?".

"Simple, Chase. Someone posted a picture of our elder sister and said that she was inside a five-star hotel located at 57 District Road. That must be the hotel she is currently staying at. So, my brother, that is the place we are going". I replied to him, and placed my palm on the side of his face, before I gently shoved him out of my way.

Boom!

The second I took a step forward, I heard a loud explosion and halted.

Maybe it was because we werewolves have acute hearing compared to humans... the explosion was loud.

"You heard that, right?". I turned to Chase as I asked him.

"Of course I did". He replied to me and for once, the expression on his face turned serious. He added, "Could it be an attack, brother? Are there any demons or wild creatures or hybrid creatures close by?".

"I don’t know-". I replied to him and stopped talking after I sensed dark energy. I knew Chase was probably sensing it too.

"Should we track where the dark energy is coming from?". I asked him.

After staring at me for a while, Chase placed his hand on my forehead and I had to slap his hand off. "Tell me the truth. Are you sick or something, Caden? Or are you out of your mind? Instead of you suggesting that we run away, you are suggesting we follow the scent of the dark energy and know where it’s coming from".

And again, for once, Chase was the sensible one this time around. But, I have this strong feeling and urge to locate where the dark energy is coming from.

My instincts have never been so strong before. "I will be right back, Chase. Wait for me here!". I hurriedly said to him and dashed away, following the scent of the dark energy.

As I got closer, the scent became stronger.

Chase’s pov,

I stood still, confused.

"Is he truly out of his damn mind? If anything bad happens to him and I return home alone, mom is going to freak out!". I shouted.

’Go after him and stop him, Chase!’. Vachan said to me.

I was afraid. I didn’t want to go closer to the dark energy, let alone see the creature that was emanating such dark energy. But because I did not want my only brother to get hurt, I clenched my fists and shook my head once before I ran after him as fast as I could.

I couldn’t believe it. I was running after Caden with all my might, but he was far away from me. I had never seen him run that fast before.

Is he possessed? Because, why the heck is he running towards danger at full speed? Does he desperately wish to die?!

A few seconds later, Caden stopped outside a factory. An abandoned factory that hasn’t been functioning for ages.

"Don’t you dare leap over that wall, Caden". I glared at him as I threatened him. I knew that this wasn’t the time for me to be playful. I was damn serious.

"I thought I told you not to follow me?". He casually said to me as if it was not a big deal, and I got annoyed because of that.

"Are you insane, Caden?! Whose person would watch his brother walk towards death and leave him be?! Definitely not me!". I declared and ran towards him.

I was stronger than Caden.

So I knew that if I grabbed him, I would be able to hold him down and prevent him from entering the factory.

Unfortunately, when he saw me running towards him with my hand stretched out towards him and ready to grab him, he leaped over the wall and entered the factory’s area, and I missed grabbing him.

Although I was stronger than Caden, he was faster than me. This was my great disadvantage if I went against him in a fight or in running.

"You have got to be kidding me!". I slammed my hands on the wall, before I leaped over the wall.

I ran inside the factory building and my eyes widened as Caden halted. I used this opportunity and went ahead and grabbed his hand.

"What is wrong with you?!". I scolded him.

I expected him to get angry at me for yelling at him, but he pointed his finger at something.

I traced his finger all the way to the figures he was pointing at.

Seeing the figures, I knew that I wasn’t able to sense or notice the werewolf’s presence on time because I was annoyed with Caden.

"Wait, is that... elder sister?". I muttered in disbelief at the sight I saw.

Alpha Anastasia was unconscious on the floor with her head resting on the body of a guy.

He must be a human, as I couldn’t sense his presence.
