Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva -
Chapter 972 - 91: The Silver Princess Soaring the Sky_2
After settling down in the city, the six began a new round of missions, starting with investigating the mystery of ghostly disturbances in a wealthy family's mansion. During the process, they discovered it was the work of an evil necromancer, and thus headed to his secluded residence outside the city for a battle.
In the mountain forest, mist hung thickly as monstrous creations of white bones roamed. Tilan and her companions navigated through, shattering approaching skeleton monsters one by one. Tilan's "Sickle Wielder" and Blanchi's "Holy Nun" played crucial roles in the endeavor.
"Soul Slaying"
The young girl uttered the skill's name with a tone reminiscent of ancient chants, and the blade of her scythe gleamed faintly with fluorescence. Any ghost it cut through vanished instantly, while monstrous cadavers struck down collapsed motionlessly.
"Candle Flame Holy Flame"
Blanchi raised a candlestick high, and golden flames spread out from it, igniting the nearing undead creatures, illuminating the mist, and reducing the bones to ash.
After defeating the cadaverous creatures and monsters along the way, the group finally reached the depths of the eerie forest, where they encountered the gray-haired necromancer standing before a gravestone inscribed with beautiful words.
"What is this?"
"This is Sailian's grave. She was my childhood friend and grew up with me." The necromancer turned toward them, half of his face obscured by a mask, the other half pale as death.
"But she later married Fulin, who is now the City Lord of Night Harbor."
"Although her choice brought me pain, I respected her will."
"But Fulin did not keep his vows. He fell for another woman, abandoned Sailian, and poisoned her to death, claiming it was sickness."
"I wanted Fulin to live in regret and fear. So, I arranged all sorts of things in his mansion. As expected, he fell into mental collapse step by step. Everything seemed to go according to plan, but I didn't anticipate Ainie stepping out to aid him."
"Ainie is Sailian's only daughter. She has the same pale violet hair and the same soft-hearted kindness as Sailian. She even sought out your group to investigate the matter."
"If it had been someone else, I would've killed them to silence them long ago. But she… she is Sailian's only child."
After listening to the necromancer's story, the six paused.
"He did wrong, yet his reasons seem understandable." Audrey lightly plucked her instrument's strings.
"Are we to forgive him for this?" Prin shook her head, flames manifesting in her palm.
"Hold on for now," Blanchi pleaded, urging Prin to temporarily hold her fire.
"What do you all think?" She turned to Tilan, Ores, and Shui Yanqing.
"If it were me, I'd turn around and teach that City Lord a lesson. He concealed too much from us and misled us." Ores brushed her silver hair aside.
"I wouldn't believe the necromancer's words. Regardless, the mistakes he's made must be brought to an end." Shui Yanqing tightly gripped her sword's hilt.
"I'd subdue him, take him along with the City Lord, and confront Ainie, revealing the truth to her." Tilan gently pressed her finger against the sharp blade of her scythe.
"In that case, let's defeat him first." The six quickly reached consensus and prepared for battle.
"Hahahaha—You naive fools! Do you think numbers can defeat me?" The necromancer, upon hearing their intent, let out a maniacal laugh. He then waved a hand, summoning hundreds of white skeletons from the misty forest behind him.
Unlike the crude ones outside, these skeletons were refined, with some clad in armor and armed with weapons.
Seeing the necromancer command the skeletons to encircle them, Prin's flames suddenly intensified, darkening to a deep red. She hurled them forward, and they exploded amidst the skeletal ranks, the fire engulfing many, reducing them to white ash.
At the front of the group, Ores stood resolutely in form-fitting armor and wielded a double-handed axe, slashing with great force. White light clung to the axe's blade, annihilating the skeletons before her.
Meanwhile, Audrey played her music, enhancing her companions' status. Under the protection of Ores and Shui Yanqing, Tilan sprinted past tree branches and closed in on the necromancer, slicing his staff and wrist with one precise swing of her scythe.
Screaming in agony, he collapsed, writhing on the ground as crimson powdered shards spilled from his wound. Blanchi arrived shortly after, treated his injuries to staunch the bleeding, and then escorted him back to Night Harbor.
Finally, during a confrontation between Fulin, Ainie, and the necromancer, the truth gradually came to light.
It turned out Sailian hadn't been poisoned by Fulin. She had sustained fatal wounds and suffered toxin exposure while protecting her daughter during a sea beast attack. Fulin's subsequent second lover, a former friend of Sailian's, had asked to care for Ainie before her death.
However, this so-called friend grew ambitious, seeking the position of the City Lord's wife. She began spreading rumors that Sailian had been poisoned, attempting to drive a wedge between Ainie and the City Lord and even tried to eliminate Ainie. Her malicious goal was to compel the City Lord, having lost his only child, to bear another offspring—paving the way for her ascension.
"Thus, we sent that vile woman to prison, and the necromancer agreed to atone for his sins by defending the city as a force stationed outside Night Harbor. As for Ainie, she vowed to grow up well and stay by her father's side."
Sitting on a wooden sea vessel, the six slowly sailed toward the horizon, reminiscing about their experiences in Night Harbor.
"Life is truly full of changes," Prin remarked, lying on the deck and gazing at the simulated sun in the sky.
"I never thought that former friends and sisters could betray like this."
"People change over time," someone nearby mused thoughtfully.
