Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva
Chapter 950 - 83 Idrylia's Gift_2

After a few seconds of pause, she stood up.

"It's almost noon. Let them have lunch together. This afternoon, there will be special training. It won't just be watching past performances of songstresses."

"Understood." Prin stood up, stretched lazily, and walked toward the group of four, while Idrylia quietly left the resting hall.

...

In the afternoon, the six new-generation songstresses gathered once again. This was a clearing in the forest on school grounds, roughly the size of a football field, surrounded by tall beech trees with lush, tender green leaves.

Dressed differently from her usual ultramarine ceremonial attire, Idrylia was wearing something resembling an ancient priest's garb today—a long robe with a white base and gold edges, with only a deep blue pendant at her chest adding a personal touch.

"Good afternoon, children."

Judging by her age, Idrylia could easily be the great-great-grandmother of these young songstresses. To her, these twenty-something novices were no different from clueless infants in many ways.

"Good afternoon, mentor." The six bowed respectfully, then looked at her curiously, wondering what kind of training awaited them today.

"Today, I won't be lecturing you on those lessons and philosophies that give you headaches. Instead, we'll do something lighthearted and straightforward." As a songstress herself, she was naturally attuned to the emotional state of the six over the past few days.

"I don't know if any of you have ever kept pets before. Compared to humans, animals—being less intelligent—act in ways that are much simpler and purer."

"Communicating and guessing their minds is far easier than dealing with humans. That is also why, in the early stages, I suggested you practice with animals first."

"However, most of you are no longer beginners. Today, I will teach you new techniques to build a connection with these little creatures."

After speaking, she raised her hand. A few snow-white pigeons flew down from the sky, landing on her wrist and shoulder, cooing softly.

"These are homing pigeons that have undergone some level of training. They are familiar with humans and understand a number of commands."

"What I will teach you today is how to establish a mental connection with these homing pigeons, allowing you to see distant landscapes and scenarios through their eyes." She gently stroked the pigeon on her shoulder with her fingers, causing it to emit a faint glow. Following her commands, three pigeons flew in circles around the six, sometimes forming a straight line, other times spiraling and looping in the air. They even flew to a nearby forest to fetch three branches of identical length.

"That's amazing! Do you think I can learn this today?" Blanchi asked, her eyes shining with envy.

"For you, probably not," Idrylia said gently, reassuring her that she would need another two years. She then began detailing the steps to the five remaining songstresses on how to perform the technique, communicate with the pigeons, and gradually establish a spiritual bond.

After about two hours, the five young songstresses had roughly mastered the technique.

Watching the pigeons circling around them, Idrylia nodded contentedly and then announced the training objective.

"Stay where you are and send your pigeons out. Five kilometers away from the school, I've had five differently colored plaques placed, each marked with a number. Your task is to send your pigeons to retrieve the numbers from those plaques and report them to me within half an hour. The more numbers you remember, the higher your score."

"Mentor, are there rewards for high scores?" Prin raised her hand to ask.

"Yes, I've collected quite a few interesting trinkets over the years. You'll choose your reward based on your score," she said with a smile, much less stern than she had been in recent days.

"Thank you, mentor," the five responded in unison.

"What about me? Am I unable to participate?" Blanchi asked, feeling left out.

"For you, I'll give a different training task. Complete it, and there will be rewards for you as well." Idrylia waved her hand, and another pigeon landed, signaling Blanchi to follow it.

"Okay, mentor~" Blanchi replied cheerfully.

Afterward, the five songstresses released their pigeons. Closing their eyes, they began to perceive the world through the pigeons' vision. The experience was undeniably unique, akin to suddenly gaining a second screen after using a single one for over twenty years. Without closing their eyes, the overlapping perspectives would've been utterly disorienting.

The white pigeons spread their wings, soaring above the forest, skirting past the majestic Clock Tower on campus. The field of vision constantly shifted and transformed. This immersive experience gradually drew the five into a concentrated state.

Something's wrong!

Shui Yanqing suddenly felt a sharp pain and then saw her vision spin as the pigeon plummeted toward the ground. Fortunately, the bird's resilience kicked in, and it managed to unfurl its wings at the last moment, narrowly gliding past the street before avoiding a fatal crash.

What's going on? Controlling the pigeon, she flipped its body to scan the skies, finally spotting a gray-brown red-tailed hawk swooping down again.

If it were her own body, she had numerous ways to respond. But the pigeon connected to her was just an ordinary animal, utterly incapable of resisting. In a panic, it darted into a nearby shop to temporarily evade danger.

Inside the shop, the pigeon perched on a cabinet to inspect itself, discovering a bleeding wound on one of its wings.

This is bad, Shui Yanqing thought to herself. It seemed unlikely she could accomplish today's training goal now.

Just as she was about to sever the connection and give up, a soft tapping sound came from the glass display case by the shop's side.
