Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva -
Chapter 916 - 71: Night View and Heart-to-Heart Talk on the Rooftop_2
"Alright, stop talking, Suoga. This is one of the few things I regret." Alanna shook her head; she had been too softhearted at the time.
Suoga shrugged at Tilan and then fell silent.
"So, what now?" Tilan was curious about how Alanna planned to resolve this.
"What now? Of course, we're going to find 'Mad Wolf' As. Since it's his subordinate and someone he brought up, looking for the underlings won't solve anything." Gen suggested they go right away.
"What about him?" Alanna glanced at Duke, who was still visibly shaken.
"Bring him along. He can identify them, and we can question As while we're at it—why he stopped contacting the team after what happened that night, even when the big sister called him and he deliberately ignored her."
"Just the four—no, five—of us?" Suoga looked around.
"When they race or go out at night, there are often twenty or thirty of them. If there's an event, a hundred people showing up wouldn't be surprising."
"If it were back in the day, one call from the big sister could bring in a couple hundred people, easy. But now..." Suoga admitted it would be challenging.
"No, you're wrong, Suoga." Alanna adjusted her hat, then looked up at the sky.
"Yes, I've been abandoned and betrayed by the group, but the reason I became a leader wasn't solely because of the team's support." She turned back around, her bright and captivating pink-purple eyes blinked once, and a confident smile formed on her lips.
"I happen to be a highly recognizable celebrity, you know—the kind people line up on the street to see. You really think I can't call on a few people?"
"Don't simplify me as just someone who sings well."
And so, under the watchful eyes of the few others, Alanna demonstrated live how to organize an impromptu street performance, showcasing the professional organizational power of her music company.
"Alright, it's settled—tonight, the location is Eastern Roundabout Street in Central District 7." She wrapped up her conversation with the agency and gave the group an assuring gesture.
"Enjoy my performance later."
...
The night wind was cool, one hour later at Eastern Roundabout Street.
Tilan sat on a rooftop terrace, with an excellent view of the lively street below and the fans that were gathering.
Like colorful little dots under the night sky, they spilled out, converging as the stage, shaped like a flying shell, descended slowly from the sky. Alanna appeared dazzlingly on stage after switching into her performance attire.
First came a round of enthusiastic greetings, followed by the gradually invigorating sound of music blasting from the speakers.
So this is what a superstar's performance ability looks like, Tilan thought as she watched this impromptu performance come to life in just over an hour, realizing she had learned a lot.
If she were to host something similar on the fly, how many people would show up? She couldn't help but wonder.
Still, she'd probably feel a little embarrassed. It was so last-minute, and she wouldn't even know what to sing. Besides, her style didn't lean toward rock; she'd probably need to choose specific songs to fit this kind of atmosphere.
As her thoughts wandered, tethered in her own musings, a hover car descended slowly and parked beside Tilan.
Suoga jumped out, walked to the edge of the terrace, and sat next to Tilan. He also took a glance at the black lion beside her, which, at the moment, was lying on the ground, eyes half-closed as if napping, its smooth mane fluttering in the night wind, exuding a sense of leisure.
"It's stunning. Someday, when I'm rich, I want to raise a beast like this."
His words interrupted Tilan's train of thought. She lifted her head and looked toward Suoga.
"Is everything ready?"
"Ready. I've coordinated with part of the group in the fan community—a portion of them won't leave immediately after the performance and will ride their motorcycles to join us."
"How did Alanna explain tonight's event to the fans?"
"Explain? There's no need for explanations. All she has to say is, 'Tonight, I'm leading everyone in a night of revelry.'"
"That's enough." Suoga stated matter-of-factly, implying Tilan was too young to understand human nature.
"Zi Jin is always so thoughtful and detailed, but I'll tell you this—most people don't overthink things. It's like feeling hungry at night and walking into the first decent-looking restaurant you see for a tolerable dinner."
"There's no grand plan, no lofty ideals. Everyone's just trying to get by, find a little joy and excitement." From the past couple of days spent together, Suoga had come to understand what kind of person Tilan was.
"You high-achieving students always think the world operates in some ideal pattern, following specific rules. But in reality, most people live by instinct."
"Thinking deeply is exhausting; it's better to drink a bit and find an attractive person to enjoy the moment with."
"I know." Tilan silently shook her head.
"I know people don't really think that far ahead." She glanced below at the crowd waving glow sticks with fervor in the music.
"But when the day comes that many people expect you to make a choice, when countless hopes rest on you, you can't just muddle through. Doing so will leave people disappointed, betray many things, and turn the ending into something sad and regretful."
"Fair enough, you could be right; after all, nobody's ever had expectations of me. I wouldn't know what that feels like." Suoga reclined against the wind, his hands resting behind his head.
"Growing up, I always had a bad relationship with my family. They raised me more like a tool to yell at or order around. No care, no expectations."
"You, Zi Jin, and Alanna—you guys are different. You're students at the Federation's top universities; plenty of people will want you in the future, and your families probably had high hopes for you to accomplish something extraordinary. That's why you have to think about so many things." He stood up and pulled a few cans of drinks from the hover motorcycle's refrigerated compartment.
