Chapter 322: Chapter 322: Is Baili Xie Crooked? (2)_1

Dugu Qianye had already come out of the disoriented infatuation from just a moment ago, glanced at him, and said, "What do you think?"

Seeing Dugu Qianye’s gaze, he knew there was no hope for today. He walked over, hugged her, and sat down in the chair, saying, "That bet..."

"I’m confident about it, don’t worry," Dugu Qianye interrupted as soon as he mentioned the bet again.

"I know, I mean, just focus on the competition, it doesn’t matter whether you lose or win." Zi Xiao buried his head in the crook of her neck, "No matter the result, he won’t be seeing the sun for several days."

"Uh..." Dugu Qianye stiffened at Zi Xiao’s action and felt a sense of comfort when she heard his words. "Yeah, I got it."

The room fell silent for a moment, filled only with the sound of their breathing. However, while Zi Xiao was enjoying the hard-won sweetness, Dugu Qianye was thinking about the upcoming competition. If Zi Xiao knew, he would probably be annoyed to death.

As the sky gradually darkened, Zi Xiao saw that Dugu Qianye had actually fallen asleep in his arms. He smiled helplessly and carried her to bed, carefully removed her shoes, and pulled the blanket over her. Watching her sleep soundly, he debated for a while before finally taking off his own shoes, slipping under her blanket, and with a wide arm, he drew her into his embrace. Seeing her nuzzle into a comfortable position in his arms, with her prolonged breaths spilling onto his chest, he suddenly felt he was looking for a form of sweet torment. However, knowing that she could sleep so peacefully by his side, he still felt a sense of satisfaction.

Dugu Qianye had been thinking about the upcoming matches, recalling the people who had advanced today. She hadn’t slept well since arriving on Yuling Continent and, smelling the faint scent of pine on Zi Xiao, she fell asleep while her thoughts wandered. His presence enveloped her in the dream, allowing her to sleep soundly.

When the first ray of morning light streamed in, she woke up, feeling the hand that had stretched over to rest on her waist and the solid chest at her back, as if in a dream.

She turned over and looked at the still dreaming face,

She reached out to touch his eyelashes, muttering, "Demon!"

As she tried to pull her hand back to get up, it was caught before it left his face and then placed on his cheek.

"After watching so long, are you satisfied?" the Peach Blossom Demon opened his eyes, brimming with endless mirth.

"You were faking sleep!" Dugu Qianye glared at him and asked, "How did you end up on my bed?"

Zi Xiao smiled, how could he sleep when the person he liked was in his arms? He had just laid with her in bed all night. He had pretended to close his eyes only when he felt her wake up.

"Shameless!" Dugu Qianye withdrew her hand and then turned to get out of bed.

"Hehe." Zi Xiao chuckled, knowing there was a competition today, so he didn’t tease her anymore. With a flip, he got out of bed alongside her.

After getting ready, Dugu Qianye stepped outside to see Hao Pengyou and Mo Feng standing at the door, wearing mischievous smiles as they looked at her.

"Little junior brother, how was last night? Not too tired, I hope? It won’t affect today’s competition, will it?" Hao Pengyou bombarded Dugu Qianye with questions as soon as she opened the door.

Hearing Hao Pengyou’s words, a scowl crossed Dugu Qianye’s face, and she threw the fruit she was holding at him. Hao Pengyou caught it with one hand and took two bites, remarking, "Quite tasty."

Zi Xiao came out, glanced at them, and said to Dugu Qianye, "Let’s go downstairs."

Dugu Qianye nodded, ignoring them and turning to head downstairs.

At that moment, the door next door swung open, and Tian Bo emerged, patting his chest in a startled manner: "I hadn’t expected it to be like this! Good thing I came. I must keep a close eye on the young master, so he won’t be led astray by Baili Xie. Who could have imagined Baili Xie would be so crooked... Ah, what a state of affairs we’re in!"

After eating breakfast, Dugu Qianye and company headed to the tournament grounds. The weather wasn’t as pleasant as the sunny days before, but the stands were packed with people waiting for the competition to start.

As in previous sessions, once the judges were seated, the host took the stage to announce the day’s rules: "Congratulations on making it to the finals. The finals consist of three rounds, and today’s first round involves the crafting of a seventh-grade Elixir. Use your own ingredients; as long as you produce a seventh-grade Elixir, there is no time limit. The Elixirs will be judged based on their rarity and grade. The top fifty will advance to the next round. Begin!"

Upon hearing the rules, everyone rummaged through their own stock of herbs, trying to figure out what kind of Elixir they could produce. This round was a test of one’s foundational resources; having a profound stock was a key factor for victory. Many lamented not bringing certain herbs with them, which would have allowed them to produce particular Elixirs!

Gradually, some had begun the refining of their materials. Dugu Qianye observed the herbs of those competitors and could roughly guess what kind of Elixirs they were aiming to produce. She thought for a while, waited a bit longer, then took out her materials to start her alchemical process. She didn’t plan to stand out in this round, aiming simply to make the top fifty.

Several hours later, contestants one by one completed their tasks. After Dugu Qianye finished crafting her Elixir, she placed it in a Jade Bottle, set it on the tray provided by the timer assigned to her, and then moved to a rest area to wait for the results.

Green Emperor Xiahou watched Dugu Qianye finish and waved her over. Dugu Qianye walked over to sit next to him, chatting casually. Tian Bo, who saw Green Emperor Xiahou calling Dugu Qianye over, was so frightened he nearly jumped out of his seat. He wanted to go down and separate them but then remembered he was at the competition site, so he could only stamp his feet anxiously in the stands, drawing curious glances from those nearby.

"Young master, you mustn’t let him lead you astray! Young master, hey!"

The results of the first round came out swiftly; Dugu Qianye ranked 30th, solidly advancing to the second round. Black and White Impermanence looked at Dugu Qianye’s score and nodded in satisfaction. This level of performance wasn’t too conspicuous and wouldn’t attract too much attention. They would wait to strike a final blow to Shayan in the later rounds!

Thinking about Shayan, they ground their teeth in anger, vowing to deal with him properly after the competition ended!

Zi Xiao was in the stands, and aside from watching Dugu Qianye, he spent the rest of the time observing Shayan. His calm, undisturbed gaze sent a shiver down Shayan’s spine.

From the moment Shayan arrived at the competition grounds, he felt as if someone was constantly watching him. It was a different feeling from the admiring looks he was accustomed to and left him feeling uncomfortable. He looked around but didn’t notice anyone paying him particular attention. He might not have noticed, but that uncomfortable feeling persisted, affecting his performance in the competition.
