Miho the Killer
Chapter 80: No Escape

Chapter 80: No Escape

"What did he say?"

Miho asked me incredulously. She certainly did pick up that it was a call from Shin, but it didn’t seem to really register to her that there was no exit that we were promised.

"Miho... Shin played us. He’s been tricking us all along."

"Huh?"

"There is no exit."

"What do you mean there is no exit?"

"THERE IS NO ESCAPE TUNNEL!"

"But... the old man said-"

"Don’t you get it?! He has been LYING to us!"

"No-, why would he? This doesn’t make sense."

"Oh God, and now we have..."

I couldn’t speak any further for it was my fault that we now had Detective Choi - and probably a whole lot of other policemen together with him - on his way up to the dead-end we are stuck in.

"Sohee, please. Calm down and explain the situation to me."

"I... I don’t know the reason, or how..." I lied. I hated myself for it.

"But there is no escape tunnel here. We have to work our way out to the ground floor."

Then we started to hear a LOT of footsteps hurriedly running up the stairs from the other end of the corridor.

"Ilseong guys are coming up," Miho noted.

"Not only that, Miho..."

"What is it? Please, tell me!"

"There’s police on the ground floor."

"Ah, fuck."

Miho put her hands on her hips, closed her eyes, and let out a sigh with a frown.

"What should we do? At this rate, we are going to..."

Before I could even finish my sentence, the first man of the Ilseong’s mob emerged from the staircase and his jaw dropped as he saw all the bloody bodies lying on the ground in the narrow corridor.

"Stand behind me. Keep three steps away."

Miho picked up the katana from the desk again and started to head toward the door.

"Miho, we can’t-"

"AAAAAAAHHHHHH!"

Letting out a primal scream, Miho started to charge down the corridor, and three of Ilseong’s men started to charge at her as well with more following them from behind.

It was promptly proved that these men were far too rash compared to the ones Miho had just fought. But they had the numbers.

Although Miho made a quick work out of the first three that charged her with the impossibly sharp katana slashing them, the corridor kept getting filled up with more of them and they were rushing toward Miho as if their lives depended on it, despite the fact that they saw Tiger in full bloom with her blade work.

"Tsk!"

Miho stabbed and slashed, cut and cracked, but she was being forced back by the sheer number of the mob that was now flooding to the corridor. It was no longer just a Corridor of Death, but a full tunnel of meat grinder.

Something was bothering me in my mind.

Why would they be so desperate to rush forward although it was clear that whoever was at the front was getting cut up by the maniac?

"Pull back! This doesn’t make sense! Pull back!"

The tigress, now in full beast mode, seemingly didn’t hear me and kept on fighting them but she was really getting pushed back now. Although the katana was probably a superior weapon, many of them held steel pipes which the katana couldn’t do very well against.

"TIGER! THIS IS AN ORDER! PULL BACK!"

That finally snapped her back into her senses, and after a massive extended horizontal swing of the long blade to make the mob step back temporarily, she managed to snatch one of the guys at the front and dragged him all the way back to the office after planting a small knife on his shoulder just above the collar bone which made him very compliant, although that didn’t stop him from kicking and screaming.

Once she finally got back to the office we slammed the door shut and locked it. I was expecting that the mob would be trying to break the door open, but confusingly, nobody came knocking on our door.

"Where’s the exit?!"

Miho pulled out the knife from the man’s right shoulder and asked while planting it into the left shoulder.

"FUUUUCCCK!"

"WHERE IS THE FUCKING EXIT?!" She grabbed on the hilt of the knife and twisted it. The man started to tremble and scream in excruciating pain.

"The... room 5 has a window... ARGGGGH... stop!!!"

"SPIT IT OUT!!!"

"I AM FUCKING TRYING TO TELL YOU! AAAGHGHH!!!"

"Calm down! Let him speak!"

Miho stopped pressing on the knife for a moment.

"Room 5 has a window. There’s a ladder leading to the rooftop..."

The sadistic predator then took the knife out of the man’s shoulder and made a cut through the man’s lower abdomen, seppuku style.

"WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!" I shouted at Miho.

"If you get medical attention quick enough, you will live."

Miho told the man she ’mercifully’ spared.

She then carefully opened the door to take a peek outside.

"These motherfuckers are escaping now. Let’s follow them. Come!"

The savior called out to me and carefully left the room and I followed her closely behind.

Once we were out in the corridor it all made sense. Miho was effectively blocking the access to Room 5 by slashing everyone rushing forward, and the mob was being chased up by the police from downstairs. They were forced to push Miho back as much as they could to gain entry to Room 5 so they could escape. All of them were probably facing decades of jail time if they got apprehended here, hence the desperation.

"Let’s go!"

With that, we started running toward Room 5. The Ilseong mob, now focusing on escaping alone, didn’t want to attack Miho - instead, they grouped a formation with four guys blocking the corridor swinging their steel pipes just trying to keep Miho away while the rest of them from behind were rushing into Room 5 like a mob of men desperately queuing up to go pee in a men’s toilet.

:Bang:

Then there was a sudden gunshot, deafeningly loud and ringing through the narrow passage. Everyone froze on the spot and looked at the staircase side, and there stood a pair of policemen advancing with rifles firmly pointed down the corridor, ready to fire at anyone that posed danger.

"Fucking hell..." One of them muttered after seeing the Corridor of Death filled with literal deaths.

"DROP YOUR WEAPONS! GET DOWN ON THE FLOOR!" The other one commanded and the mob had no option but to follow as more of the armed police emerged behind.

We are done for.

I originally wanted Choi to come and somehow manage to stop the operation either beforehand or at an early stage to ensure that Miho did not have to go through this whole fight. Without the ’delivery’ gimmick that Shin came up with at the last minute, by now we would probably be on the third floor at most which would have given us more options to escape before we get cornered by the police like this. It would not have been too hard to fall back to the second floor, which provided more open space and a lot of civilians sitting at the tables and drinking, giving us a good chance to mix in and look for opportunities to escape.

But now I realized just how much we were truly trapped by Shin.

By making us pass through the whole passage so quickly he ensured that we got to Ryu and finished the job before the police could arrive, although I wished we could still survive through this to find out exactly why Shin sent us to this dead-end with no escape tunnel.

Now all I could imagine was Miho getting shoved into a police car, handcuffed, and spending the rest of her life in jail as a caged tiger, the poorest thing ever.

And I brought this on her.

And it truly was all over now. Regardless of how many Ilseong’s men we had here and Miho’s incredible prowess, there was zero chance against the fully armed Police Special Ops.

It seemed Miho also understood our inevitable fate now. She turned to face me as if to say goodbye.

Tears started to roll down my cheeks.

This couldn’t be it.

This is not how I wanted things to end.

I still dreamed of our life in a small seaside village.

There was still so much I looked forward to with my heroine, my villainess, my bipolar killer.

But before she got down on the floor, Miho gave me a smile and laid down on her side - not face down. She put her palms together in a prayer position and placed her cheek on the back of her hand with her body curled up like a baby in a sleeping position.

No.

This is suicidal.

This can’t possibly work.

It would be too selfish for me to accept this and let Miho take the risk to get us out of here now.

But I understood what she wanted me to do and I couldn’t go against what could be her final ask. As I still stood slightly inside the office, I glanced sideways and located two light switches by the door. One must be for the office and another one must be for the corridor.

Miho wanted the lights out.
