Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 72. Dr Anders’ Note
Chapter 72: 72. Dr Anders’ Note
Back at Amberfell,
Dane swirled the light-yellow liquid in his glass with a stern expression. His gaze was sharp as stared at the liquid. His mood was still sour since last night and it was thanks to none other than Alexander Legend.
He knew he shouldn’t let one man have such a strong hold on him but he couldn’t help it.
A knock on the door drew his attention. His eyes narrowed at it before he hummed and the door opened. Heath walked in but his expression didn’t ease up.
"Young Master," Heath greeted but Dane did not respond. Knowing that Dane was still upset about last night, Heath nervously continued. "I have found Miss Goldman works," he saw as Dane’s expression shifted but only a little and it should have been a good thing but he feared that the next part of the news would make it worse than before.
"And...?" Dane asked. He knew Heath well enough to know ow when he was having trouble completing his words even they sounded as complete. Knowing this, the deep furrow returned and he saw Heath nervous self fix his collar as if the room has become too hot and the uncomfortable.
"This were the problems comes, sir,’ he uttered and Dane’s eyes narrowed. "She works at Legend Corp head office," Dane’s expression took a shade darker. As if that wasn’t enough, Heath Continued to deliver the most crucial part of the news and one that plunged the room several degrees lower. "She is Alexander’s secretary."
Heath took a step back, maintaining a safe distance. But he was surprised when he saw Dane’s shoulders shake. Following it was a deep chuckle that sent chills down his spine but he didn’t move. He stood rooted to the same spot staring at his boss in puzzlement.
"Why does his name appear everywhere?" Were the first words Dane uttered after his fit of laughter. Heath was silent as he didn’t know how to answer that question or if he was even meant to answer it.
"Anything else?" Dane asked after taking a deep, calming breath. He would get her out of there soon. Before now, he just wanted to see her and decide if she was fit to be the woman by his side but now... now it was a must to take her. It didn’t matter whether she was fit or not. As long she was of some importance to Alexander, taking her away would be worth it.
Claiming g as his own while Alexander watched powerlessly would be all worth it.
"She is no longer staying in her apartment," Heath said, looking for the right words to use so the man wasn’t maniacal on him but he couldn’t find the right words. He saw as Dane’s eyes turned a shade darker and he swallowed. "Ever since the assassination incident, she hadn’t returned there. No one knows where she is now," he continued.
"Not even at her friends’?" Dane asked. His voice was surprisingly calm and lacked the edge that Heath had expected.
"No. Not even with her friends. But I am certain of one thing, she will be present at the banquet this weekend," Heath replied and Dane nodded.
"Stop the investigation for now. We will meet at the Romanov banquet," he said, picking up his wine once again, he drank it all in one big gulp, welcoming the bitter taste.
"Understood."

At Legend Corp.
Alex stared at the document he had signed before Williams left with a smile so bright it could rival the sun. Staring at it, he thought about his late mother.
Would she have wanted him to take this? He wasn’t sure but one thing he knew for certain was that she would ask him to follow his heart. To do what he thought was right. She wouldn’t want him to keep refusing his father knowing it would’ve his heart.
He sighed and massaged his temple, then he closed the file.
Just then, Kai opened the door and walked in with another file. He looked around as if looking for someone and Alex could guess who he was searching the office for.
"She returned to her..."
"You sent her away?" Kai said, looking at hom accusingly. Alex didn’t bother to reply to him as he found anything to keep himself busy with. "You need to see this," Kai said after seeing the disinterested look Alex gave him.
He walked Iverson and hand the file to Alex who didn’t waste a second to skim through its content.
It was Sara’s medical report from both Dr Walter and Dr Anders.
"Shouldn’t you thank me? A reward would be perfect too," Kai said like he had done the world a favor. But Alex only glanced at him before he returned his focus to file in his hand. Kai sighed knowing Alex wouldn’t acknowledge him at all. But to his surprise, just when he was about to sit down, Alex looked up and said,
"Thank you," he returned his eyes to the file. Kai froze, not expecting that. He blinked as if to make sure he heard it right. He would have thought he heard it wrong had he not met Alex’s gaze just as he said those two words.
"That’s unexpected but, you are welcome," Kai said as he finally sat down. The file on top of the desk with Apex name boldly imprinted on it caught his attention. "You signed it?!" He looked up at his friend, still unable to believe his eyes.
"Alex only glance up to him and nod before he refocused.
"That’s another surprise," he pulled the file to himself and opened it, taking the documents inside one after the other and reading through them. He stopped at the page where he saw Alex’s signature on it beside that of Williams and nodded his head. "When are you assuming your position?"
Alex looked up, his mind still clouded by what he had just read on a small note attached to Dr Anders report. But he still replied to Kai, "next week."
