Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 163 - 173
Chapter 163: 173
That’s all...? Was what many wanted to ask but didn’t dare to. They stared incredulously at him, wondering if he didn’t know they were waiting for more. But when no words were uttered again from his lips, they all resigned themselves to accepting short and crisp answers from him.
Williams looked at his youngest child and held back a smile. Although his answer may have annoyed many who didn’t think it as enough, he was straight to the point and very honest.
"Any more questions?" Williams asked as the silence had dragged on for a while.
The reporters looked at each other for a while before one of them raised a hand and stood to her feet. "My question is to Adam Crawford," she started, trying not to look away from Adam’s face as he turned his glare to her. "What do you have to say about being stripped of your position and it being given to your uncle? Do you think it is the right decision?"
"My family and the board believe this is the right decision. Who am I to oppose?" Adam said, able to mask his irritation and answer as smoothly as he could without sounding offended by the question.
The word, "stripped of his power" he should have corrected, and let her know that such w9rds should not be used but he found them to be just right and didn’t see the need for a correction.
"Apex is a family business, and the family’s decision is what we all go by. If they believe that Uncle Kayden is the best choice for the position, then he must be." Adam added and stopped, deciding not to speak anymore, but when received a look from Williams, he uttered curses under his breath.
"And what you said earlier," he spoke again, knowing the reason behind the "look" he just received. "Please refrain from the use of inciting words and sentences. I was not STRIPPED of my power," he added, stressing the last sentence.
"Thank you, for that answer..." The reporter sat back down and began scribbling on her notepad.
The questions continued with a few of them being asked to the directors of Apex and the few staff of both Apex and Legend Corp. After going round and round in circles, someone asked,
"Ms Ambrose, what is truly the relationship between you and the president? Everyone had initially thought that you both just met recently, but the photo of you two in your earlier days yesterday confused many of us. And how do you feel sitting along with your ex fiance of less than a month? We all know that you and Mr Adam Crawford shared a relationship of at least three years."
"I am not obligated to answer that question. This is a family matter, and it will be discussed within the family only. I owe no one an explanation," Came Sara’s immediate reply, and murmurs erupted, but Shepard had no heed to it.
"People are calling you an opportunate woman. Doesn’t that bother you?" another reporter asked, and many seated at the table frowned in displeasure.
But Sara smiled. "An opportunity woman." she thought.
She almost thought those reporters were bought by Adam, seeing as they seem to be attacking her then, she had m own him well enough to know he could and shouldn’t do. Although she would admit that he might actually surprise her. He had once proven that she didn’t know him well enough.
Seeing g her silent like that, Alex wanted to speak on her behalf but held himself back when he saw the smile playing on her lips.
"Well, what can I say?" She leaned forward, placing her hand atop the table, and her smile widened. "What if I am? What can anyone of you do about it?" She asked, and everyone seemed taken aback while Alex smirked. Seemingly, he was only not surprised by her reply.
"But Ms Ambrose...."
"Mrs Legend," Sara said, I tensions interrupting the woman who went silent and nodded her head before she called again,
"Mrs Legend," both Sara and Alex nodded at her and she became speechless but seeing as everyone was still waiting for her to continue, she had to think back and try to remember what’s he wanted to ask quickly. "Does it not bother you at all? Your name is being smeared on but..."
"What people say or think has absolutely no effect on me. It adds nothing to me and takes nothing from me. Many of those who call me names are those who wish they were in my shoes but will never have the chance to. Not even in a dream. Alex is my husband, and I his wife. That is a fact that no one can deny. So why bother listening to rumors that are spread by jealous people?" Sara asked, speaking proudly with her shoulders held high.
"What are you trying to say, Ms...Mrs..." the person wants even allowed to finish when Sara answered.
"I am saying I don’t care what anyone thinks. And it doesn’t matter to me whether my husband is a legend or crawfird. He is still the Alex thay I have always and that is all thay matters to me."
The room fell into silence as all eyes were now locked on one person. Some frowned, some looked envious, and the other was just proud of her.
Alex, in particular, stared at her as if she were the only one in the room. His eyes held an admiration that could not be hidden. He looked like a man who was falling even more in love with his woman at the moment. And he didn’t even try to hide.
"That would be all for tue questions," David spoke before it could drag any further, and people became more courageous to ask more intruding questions.
"But ..."
"That’s would be," he stated again, and the reporters went silent. "Chairman, do you agree to this?" He turned to Williams and asked, and the man nodded his head as he rose to his feet.
"Tham you all once again forcoming. If you have any more questions, the PR department is there to answer your questions at a convenient time." He said, and evedh9ne k ew they no longer had any chance of asking or having any questions answered.

"Sara..." Adam called, finally able to speak with her alone with Alex, discussing with the directors.
Sara lifted her gaze and looked up at him, tue glass of wine in her hand half empty. She looked at him with indifference, and his heart ached at that. Everyone word that she said in her replies sounded like praised to Alex in his ears, and it had already hurt so much. Seeing her indifference and detachment towards him only made his aching heady hurt more.
"Can I have a moment of your time?" He asked, but Sara’s expression did not change, and neither did she give him the answer that he wanted to hear.
"I am currently occupied, Mr Crawford. Maybe another time," she said and was about to turn and leave when he held her arm and drew closer to her to tue point thay she could feel his breath on her face.
"We may not be together anymore, but we are no strangers, Sara. What’s with the attitude? Don’t I at least deserve an explanation for all of this?" Adam stared intently at her. His eyes trailed down her face and stopped on her lips, and he suddenly had the urge to claim them.
He quickly let go of her and stepped back a little and averted his gaze, trying g to distract himself. Why was he feeling this way now? He shouldn’t be like this, but he couldn’t help it either. When was the last time they kissed? He wondered, and his mind also wandered off as he tried to remember when that was.
"Right..." he unknowingly uttered out loud as he remembered that it was the morning before he left to the office on his birthday. The day everything happened. She had kissed him then and wished him a good day ahead only for this go south hours later.
"What would you have me me do, Adam?" Sara asked as if she didn’t just hear talking to himself. "Did you expect a hug, a kiss or what?"
Adam was snapped back to tye present when he heard her ask, and he blinked. Did she just say kiss?
He stared at her, confused and wondering if he had said something out loud that he shouldn’t have.
"whatever we had is in the past now. I have no intentions of visiting that past," Sara said again, and he frowned.
Thi
"But you have no problem going back to your past with him?" Adam was enraged whennhe heard thay but more than that, he wanted to laugh at the irony.
"Alex never cheated on me, Adam. He never found to not be enough for him. He never sought a harem. So yes, I have no problem going back to my past with him."
