Chapter 153: 153

Lloyd walked out of the bathroom with his robe on and a towel in his hand which he used to dry his hair. His steps halted as he got close to the bed and his eyes caught the sight of the ring still on the necklace placed on the bed.

He picked it up, holding a necklace while the ring hung on it as its pendant. He then stared at it for a while as he remembered his mother’s words from just moments ago.

If he was to find someone he wouldn’t have to tolerate, then he knew without a doubt who that was but did he have the courage to open up to her again?

Letting g the towel down on the bed, he placed the on his palm as his eyes traced its outlines. He remembered when this ring was around her finger, that was when it held its value to him. Waking to an empty bed with the ring lying beside him, had been something he refused to believe. He had hoped that it was just a prank. A little game she was playing and he held onto the ring. But as time went by, seconds turned to minutes and minutes to hours and soon, days passed, then whelks and finally, years. But she never came back. Not even once. until today.

He was both relieved and afraid to have seen her, especially knowing how much effect she still had on him. But happy to see that she was all right. Although an emotional mess, she was otherwise fine.

"Have you really come back to stay this time?" Lloyd worded but there was no one there to reply to him. He hoped she had, part of hom wanted her around. But at the same time, he didn’t want her around.

He wanted to accept his feeling again but was afraid of getting attached again get hurt and this time, Pearl too. She was no longer the infant who wasn’t even a year old yet by the time that they were left behind.

Just thinking about all of this had his heart aching all over again. His expression contorted but he still couldn’t take his eyes off the little piece of jewelry that once held significant value to him.

"But why would you come back now? Why now after five years, Anna?" He asked running a hand through his still damp hair.

Pearl liked her and it was only their first encounter. But she had been around Genevieve for a much longer period but the closeness was not there. Was it because Anna was her mother?
