Chapter 152: 152

At the Reigns residence,

The usual routine of Vivian putting Pearl to sleep continued, but this time, Lloyd was not there. When she noticed this small frown appeared on her face as she stood up to go and look for him.

She wanted to know what happened at the wedding. Did they get along? What happened after that? And so on. Lloyd didn’t let her talk to Genevieve when they returned earlier, but she still has no idea what went down.

She looked around the house and couldn’t find him, leaving one other place to find the only option left. His study.

With a knock on the door, she pushed it open even before he could give permission to her. as she had already expected, she was looking at her but intentionally refused to speak when he knew she was the one at the door.

"I thought we agreed that there will be no silent treatment between us?" She asked while closing the door.

Lloyd still said nothing to her.

Vibain frowned but sat down in front of him. She refused to speak unless he was ready, and she knew he would get tired soon and talk to her. She just had to wait till he was out of patience. Since she could not reprimand like she would when he was still a child, this was her way of getting him to talk to her and sometimes get what she wanted.

"Where is the ring, Mum?’ He asked.

Vivian had expected him to talk maybe even pretend he didn’t know she was there but she never expected him to ask about the ring. Her expression darkened, and she glared at him, but she was not phased by her glares.

"I told you to give it back, but you refused and even hid it from me. I want it back," he said again. His tone, though left no room for arguments, was respectful because of what the woman in front of him was.

"What do you want to do with it?" Vivian asked. She thought he had moved on or at least forgotten about the ring since he didn’t ask about it all this while, but she was wrong. Here he was today, asking for the same ring that she wanted to throw away but became hesitant.

"That is not for you to bother, Mum. I just want the ring back. Give it back to me," Lloyd replied, but Vivain was still not satisfied with his response.

"I won’t give back to you," she said resolutely, but Lloyd chuckled.

"Do you still see as a child, Mum?" He asked, and for a brief moment, Vivian thought she saw his gaze turn sharp as he stared at her asking that question, but it was gone very quickly.

"I know you are not a child," Vivain said. Her heart racing inside her as she thought about what she had seen in his eyes. She knew he could be a devil in disguise sometimes, but she had only heard of it from a few others. This was her first time seeing him stare at her as if he was staring at an enemy of his. The hostility in his eyes was so much that even if she had only seen it from a second, her body trembled as cold rough down her spine.

"Give the ring back to me, Mum. I do not wish for any unnecessary problems within the house. Not with my mother," he said and Vivian could hear the threat hidden in his words.

"That ring is not allowing you to move on, Lloyd. I am just worried for you. Please reconsider," she pleaded and even reached to hold his hand. She thought he would pull away but surprisingly, he let her hold his hand. "I know that I sometimes cross the line and push a little too far, but I am only doing g this for your sake. I want you to have a complete family."

"I know that," his expression shifted back to the familiar calm and warm one that Vivian was used to. "But there are some things that I’ll.like to do and decide on my own. Especially since it’s about my happiness. Besides, the ring isn’t the only thing thay remind me of her. If I am to get rid if everything before you are satisfied and assured that I have moved on, dies that mean I’ll have get rid of my own child too?"

Vivian’s heart skipped a beat at his words. As outrageous as it sounded, he was right. Pearl would always be a constant reminder of the woman he loved. His first love.

"No, that’s not what I meant to say, Lloyd," she said quickly trying to explain herself but he smiled.

"I know that too," he said with a nod of his head. "But you should understand now."

Vivian nodded her head and sat back down, keeping her hands to her side. But her expression remained sullen. How could he think she meant he had to give up his daughter. Pearl meant the world, not just to him but to her as well even though she was only her granddaughter.

"I will return the ring to you," Vivina finally agreed. If he couldn’t move with the ring still in his possession, then there was also no guarantee that he would move on without it. "But there is something g that I’ll like to ask you, son," she said and he nodded, giving her the bo ahead.

"... if..." she stopped to take a deep breath. She was careful not to provoke him again like she did before. Had she not been his mother, she k ew she would t have the courage to keep sitting asking him questions after what she .

"Mum," he called, his brows furrowed as he stared at her. What was it she wanted to ask that was proving so difficult for her? He wondered. "You know you can always speak your mind, Mum. There’s no need to hesitate." He encouraged her.

Vivian looked at hom and then nodded her head befire asking. "What will you do if Annabelle comes back? Would you still watch her?"
