Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 124. Mrs. Legend
Chapter 124: 124. Mrs. Legend
Sara and Alex halted once they were near Dane. He leaned against their car with his legs crossed and his hand in his pocket like he owned it.
"Alex," Sara called. Her hand brows slightly pulled together. "W is he?" She asked, seeing as Alex’s expression darkened and the aura around him suddenly shifted, she didn’t know him but she knew Alex didn’t like him.
"Dane Scott," Alex replied. His face contorted as the name rolled off his tongue like he had just swallowed a bitter medicine.
"OH..." Sara said, not knowing what she could possibly say. She glanced over her shoulder and found Amber smirking. "Is this what they have been waiting for all along?" She whispered but looked up at Alex to find him looking at her. "The reason they came here tonight."
Alex also looked at his friend and sighed inwardly. "It’s partly the reason," he replied, and she nodded. He studied her as she gazed upon the figure in front of them. Her expression was hard to read, but he could tell that she was hesitant to approach him. Not that he minds that, though. He wanted her far from that man. The farther, the better.
"Now what?"
"We can always take another car if you want that," he suggested, and she smiled.
"That’s not possible now. Unless we take one of theirs," she gestured to the three people behind them, and Alex nodded, agreeing to do so without a second thought.
"Miss Goldman," Dane called when he saw that they were about to leave. They stopped and looked up at him again, but his eyes were locked solely on Sara. Seeing her this close, she looked ravishing, the red dress on her adding to her charm and charisma.
"Can I have a moment of your time?" He asked, pushing himself off the car and began walking towards them.
"My husband doesn’t seem to like you very much, and I’d rather not have any connections either," Sara said. Her hand was holding that if Alex tightened. She didn’t know what she was acting like, but she just wanted to comfort and reassure him.
At her words, Dane shifted his gaze to Alex, and a small knowing smile graced his lips.l before looking back at Sara. "I bet he won’t mind. It would only take a few minutes and nothing more," he then looked at Alex again, "Right, Alexander?"
"My wife is tired and needs her rest. I am afraid she can not grant you an audience," Alex replied, and Dane’s expression twitched. "If you may, excuse us," Alex said as he led Sara towards the car.
"You know very well that the woman in your arms right now is my fiance, right?" He said, his voice though low, Sara also heard, and their feet collectively halted.
She was about to speak when Alex grip on her waist tightened, silently telling her not to bother. "The woman I have in my arms is none other than Mrs Legend, my wife. That means she has no fiances anywhere. Why don’t you go look for your fiance somewhere else, instead of coveting another’s wife?"
Dane clenched his fists as his teeth grit against themselves. "You knew she was my betrothed yet you went ahead to marry her, didn’t you?"
Alex smirked without denying his accusation. That smirk was almost all it took for Dane to snap, but somehow, he managed to rein over his anger. "This is far from over, Alexander. Not by a long shot."
"Mr Scott," Sara called. Whatever it is going on between Dane and Alex didn’t seem to be something simple, and she didn’t want it to grow because of her, although she doubted she wasn’t too late already.
Dane directed his gaze to her. His expression easing up a little, as he smiled inwardly like a fool from hearing her call him on her own.
"Until three days ago, I knew nothing about the Goldmans or about me having any relations with them," his expression turned slightly darker as he realized where her words were headed. "So," she continued. "I knew nothing about any engagement with the scotts either. Their plans aren’t mine."
"What are you saying, miss Goldman?" Scott asked, needing more than just those few words from her. He wouldn’t accept it even if she wrote an entire article about it.
"That I can not accept a man I know nothing about. This is our very first encounter, Mr Scott. Besides your name, which I just learned of, and your physical, also, seeing it for the first time, what else do I know about you? You might have spent your whole life watching and probably studying me, and that has made you think and accept that this arrangement would work. It isn’t the same for me."Sara said, hoping she could put a stop to all his advances and any ideas he might be having right now.
Dane’s shoulders shook as he had a low chuckled rumbled through his chest. He gazed at her with amusement before dramatically exhaling. He found her quite cute as she tried tonput hernpint across. It was no wonder Alexander would marry her.
"You know, Miss Goldman..."
"Mrs Legend..." Sara corrected, intentionally interrupting him. He frowned when he heard that while Alex smirked. He looked at her with visible pride, hearing her call herself that and even insisting on someone else addressing her that way.
"I am sorry, what...?" Dane would never address her that way, never. He wouldn’t mind if she became Mrs Scott. He would gladly address her that way, but Mrs Legend? Not even in a nightmare.
"I am married, Mr Scott. We all know that a married woman shouldn’t be referred to as ’Miss’ anymore," Sara stated.
"Please, forgive my ignorance...." Dane started, but Alex interrupted him. Whatever Danes was heading at, he was in no mood to gear it. Sara was tired, and even if she tried to hide it, he could still see it.
"You are forgiven. Please, excuse us," He looked at Sara, who nosed her head at him, and he started leading her to the car once again.
"This was not what I was expecting. Kyle commented, "Not at all satisfied with the outcome." He ran his gaze over Dane and smiled when he got a sharp glare. "Long time no see, Dane."
Dane looked at the three familiar faces with a scowl on his face. Without saying a word to them, he walked away. It didn’t matter if he bothered to speak with them. In the end, whatever he said would just end up in Alexander’s ears.
"Dane,’ Amber called, and his foot halted mid-air. "For what it’s worth, it’s nice to see you again," she said, but he clicked his tongue and walked away.
"Why did you do that?" Dave asked, his brows pulled together in disapproval.
Amber shrugged. "You don’t like him. Fine, I can accept that, but you can’t dictate what I do and say. He used to be one of us, I still respect that,’ she said. Kyle nodded, sharing the same opinion.
"Fine," he said, and he turned around but frowned when he saw Alex giving instructions to his driver. "What are they up to now?"
The others followed his gaze, and they started laughing. "At least his car is still here. Take that instead," Kyle uttered, his tone still laced with amusement.
"See ya," Amber tapped his shoulder as she after the couple.
"I will ride with you," He said to Kyle, who raised a brow. "They didn’t want that car because Dane leaned on it, and I don’t want it either. So, I’ll join you," he stated.
"You and Alex are being childish," Kyle commented, but Dave was already going to the car. "Shouldn’t you go fight with Alex for your car? Or become the... fourth wheel," he looked over at amber, opening the door to the front passenger seat.
"I don’t the strength for that," Dave replied, and Kylr chuckled.
"Young Master," Heath said as soon Dane approached their car.
"Drive," he said as soon as he was seated. His expression was still as hard as it was when he left the group.
"To the airport?" Heath asked but received a glare from Dane. He swallowed and silently started the car.
"Drive back to the hotel. We will stay here a bit longer," Dane finally spoke. Heath wanted to say something but seeing Dane’s jaws worked and his fists xlenched tight, he swallowed back his words.
