His question had everything around her come to a stand still. Was that what it sounded like? She never meant it that way. Although she was still doubtful and still not convinced about their possible shared past, she hadn’t thought of leaving him. Not yet, at least.

"No, I...I..." she tried to find the words, but they just weren’t coming. She held his gaze, wanting to see if he truly believed that, but she couldn’t read him. His eyes held so much death that she felt lost. "I didn’t mean it that way, believe me-"

"I know," his gaze suddenly softened, and she could read them once again, although not as easily as he read hers. Alex raised her hand and kissed her knuckles. "Forgive me if I made you misunderstand."

Sara frowned. How come his expression and mood switched so quickly? Just a moment ago, he was so intense and, in a way, quite intimidating even though she never thought hom to be, ever. But right now, he is back to being playful again.

"What you should know is that I won’t let you go. Not even if you request it. So don’t ever think about leaving me," he said in a rather serious tone. Once again, his expression and tone took a sudden change.

Sara nodded, unable to reply to that. She didn’t know whether to feel dread or joy at his words. He wants to hold on to her at all costs.

"It’s you and me for life, WIFE," Alex said again, emphasizing on the "wife" more than necessary.

Hearing the door creak open, Sara sighed in release as someone else had come in, and the tension between them dispelled.

"We are sorry to have kept you waiting. Here is your marriage license," he passed on to Alex, who took them and handed them over to Sara.

"Thank you," Sara said to the judge, but her eyes stayed glued to the little booklets. This right here was the final thing that made her fully bound to the man seated beside her. She shifted her gaze to him. He wasn’t looking at her but exchanging some last words with the judge beforehand stood up and offered his hand to her.

She should have a little hesitation on her heart to take that hand, but there was none nit even after his questionable words before the judge arrived.

"Shall we?"

Sara looked down at his hand and smiled. "Yes," she said, placing her hand on his own. She was a married woman from this moment onward. Whatever comes from this, she would let the future decide. Alexander Legend, or Kayden Crawford, whichever people knew him as, was now her husband.

Alex offered a charming smile that also left her smiling. She slipped the marriage lines into her purse and followed him out of the registry.

Seated inside the car, Alex beside her and Ain in the driver seat, she closed her eyes as she thought of everything that had happened since yesterday. It was Rollercoaster of events. From having a misunderstanding with Alex to having a new bodyguard. Then the accident that was nearly fatal, just moments later, she was engaged to the man who should be her boss and today, merely a few hours after the engagement, she was signing papers with and now, she was a married woman.

How was she going to break this news to her friends and father?

"Worried about something?" Hearing Alex’s voice beside her had her snapping her head towards him.

"Mm," she nodded her head. "Everything just went so fast. I don’t even know how it all started," she admitted. She smiled and chuckled lightly. It was still unbelievable.

"Do you regret it?" He asked, and Bernice brows pulled together. "This," he took out one of the licenses from her purse. "Do you regret signing this with me?" People talk a lot about wedding jitters, could this be one of them. Was it a late reaction? Second thoughts, maybe. He wouldn’t blame her if she had those. She could remember him, it was only natural.

"What?" Sara moved back , her back now against the door. "I never said I am regretful, did I?" She asked, confused and wondering if she had absent-mindedly blurted out something like that.

Alex shook his head. "No, you didn’t," he replied, and he could see her visibly relaxing. "Then it must be what I said earlier. Did I scare you?" He asked. He didn’t mean to make her tense again, but he needed to get a point across to her.

"That’s not..." she was about to sp3ak when he continued.

"It was never my intention to scare you like that. Believe me. I just wanted you to know that, in this life, I can give you anything you ever ask of me. But never a divorce,"he held her gaze as he spoke and even saw as her breath hitched. "I have waited for you. Now I have you. You are my wife. I won’t let go again. Ever. I hope you’ll forgive me if this is seen as an obsession."

"Alex," Sara’s tone was soft, and a small smile played on her lips as she reached to cup his face. "I don’t mind," she whispered as she drew near him, her forward not placed on his own. His longing for her, she saw it in his eyes as he spoke. What he felt for her wasn’t an obsession. She didn’t know if it would spiral into one in the future, but she was certain that it was not an obsession. "I don’t wish to marry more than once myself. I can be a handful too... sometimes. So I’ll advise you to prepare yourself, my dear husband, ’cause I don’t let go easily either."

"Mhm," Alex hummed with a smile. There was nothing she would throw at him now that he wouldn’t accept with open arms.

Ian tried not to stare at the couple and focus on driving but the sight was too... lovey dovey to just ignore. He couldn’t even congratulate the couple but that could be done another time. Disturbing them right now wouldn’t be proper.
