MATED TO THE SECRET ALPHA -
Chapter 183: You Hated The Goddess Too
Chapter 183: You Hated The Goddess Too
The thought of that betrayal from her wolf made Reana’s blood boil. Her wolf and Ryder, they’re both obnoxious.
Reana tore herself away from Ryder fully this time, stepping back with trembling fingers and stormy eyes. Her voice came out a low growl. "You and her both. I don’t know which of you I want to strangle more."
Ryder’s brows lifted slightly, sensing the shift. "Her?"
"My wolf," she snapped. "That little traitor wagged her tail at someone else earlier—and now she’s whimpering for you like a heat-struck pup."
Ryder’s face broke into a grin. A wide toothy grin. "The wolf knows where she belongs. She was only fascinated with the mate bond, but I assure you, she prefers me."
Reana sneered, "Unfortunately for you, Master Sharp Fangs, she wants him too. More than she wants you."
Ryder’s face changed like a chameleon’s in a flash.
She blinked slowly, savoring the way the color drained from his face. Finally, finally, she’d wiped that smirk off his face.
With that, she sauntered past him, feeling a sweet sensation in her chest, but hell...
A sharp cry cut through her throat when he spun her around and threw her on the bed.
Reana landed with a gasp, heart pounding, lips parted in shock. Before she could move, Ryder was on her – hovering like a stormcloud, his hands planted on either side of her shoulders, his eyes no longer amused, but glowing with something wild. Possessive. Wounded. Dangerous.
"You like twisting knives, don’t you?" he growled, voice low, barely above a whisper. "Let’s see how much you like it when they twist back." With that, his face shifted to her vulnerabile neck, cold breath fanning the fresh, sensitive spot.
Her wolf whimpered inside her, not in fear—but in something far worse. Anticipation, and Reana hissed, wishing she could tear her tail off.
Suddenly, Reana’s voice charged, but she didn’t move. "Sink those fangs on my skin and watch how I rip your hair off." She continued. "Only my mate gets to do that."
"You don’t get to talk about him like that," Ryder growled, each word laced with venom, but his fingers... his fingers brushed her jaw with maddening gentleness. "You don’t get to say you want both, Reana. You don’t even know what you want. Because he’s your mate doesn’t mean you want him."
"Get off me." Her voice shook. Not from fear. From the storm breaking loose inside her.
"No," he said, leaning in, his breath burning against her lips, "but I’m the one who doesn’t lie about what I feel."
Reana’s breath caught in her throat.
"I’ll kill him," Ryder said, voice quiet and clipped. "I don’t share what’s mine."
Reana scoffed and rolled her eyes, despite the dangerous glint in his eyes. "You don’t get to say that when you keep half your truths locked behind your teeth."
"I don’t keep them locked," he said, his lips dangerously close. So close that Reana could feel the graze. A subtle graze on his lips on hers that set her ablaze. Heat pulsed from his bare skin, and her veins pounded with need. "Don’t change the topic, because he’s no different from me. He wouldn’t tell you any truth either."
"It’s not your story to tell," she snapped. "Don’t act like you knew him so well – when you couldn’t even see what he truly was." She arched a brow, eyes glinting with defiance as a thought crossed her mind. "Or was that just another lie? Considering the truth never seems to come out of your mouth on the first try."
He sighed, his cold breath heavy on her face. Reana’s eyelashes fluttered as she looked up at him, her pulse thudding like a trapped bird. The weight of his gaze pinned her in place, icy, unreadable, and devastatingly close, that all her senses were high alert.
"You’re stubborn," he said, voice low and accusing, like a blade sliding beneath skin.
"So are you," she didn’t miss a heartbeat to respond, her voice sharp and steady, even as her body subtly pushed up, shamelessly craving his touch. And she hated it.
A ghost of a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth, but it didn’t reach his eyes. "Which makes us the perfect couple, not you and him."
"Not your concern, unfortunately. The goddess knows what’s best for— hmm..."
Midway through her sentence, he kissed her.
But this time, it wasn’t slow or apologetic. It was a punishment. Possession. A storm crashing against her lips, swallowing every word, every protest. She gasped into his mouth, and he took full advantage, deepening the kiss until her bones felt like fire and frost at the same time.
Reana’s fingers clenched the sheets beneath her. She should push him off. She wanted to. But her body? Her traitorous body arched into him, aching for more. Her wolf was practically howling, drunk on his scent, clawing at her insides like a prisoner begging to be released.
When he finally pulled away, his lips hovered an inch above hers. Their breaths tangled, like a dance they both craved but were too stubborn to admit.
"The goddess knows nothing," he rasped, voice dark and edged with pain. "She’s sick in the head. An old bitch who never tasted what she dished out to her creation. She knows nothing about love... about bonds."
"Ryder!" Reana hissed. "That’s blasphemy." Her eyes flared. "You can do whatever you want in your pack, but not here. Not in mine."
A smile tugged at his lips as he lifted a hand, brushing her wet hair behind her ear. "You used to hate her too."
He drew closer, voice low and intimate. "We’d sit under the moonlight, and you’d say she knows nothing about us." His fingers traced the line of her jaw, stopping at her lips. "These lips would scream at her in the middle of the night, cursing her for being unfair and useless."
He caressed her lips gently with his thumb and Reana forgot how to breathe. She just stared at him.
