MATED TO THE SECRET ALPHA
Chapter 121: Terrible Liar

Chapter 121: Terrible Liar

But just as suddenly, the memories vanished, leaving Mirian feeling disoriented and confused.

And then, reality struck her that she was kissing another man, cheating on Detroit.

Despite what she was feeling, despite loving how Marcus’s lips moved against her, how his strong arms held her protectively, she pushed against Marcus’s chest, trying to break free from the kiss.

"Stop," she whispered, her voice shaking.

Marcus’s lips lingered on hers for a moment before he pulled back. Mirian’s face flushed with desire, guilt, and embarrassment as she took a step back, trying to put some distance between them.

"I...I’m sorry," she stuttered, her eyes avoiding Marcus’s. "I shouldn’t have...this shouldn’t have happened."

Marcus’s expression was unreadable, but his voice was low and husky. "Why did you kiss me back, Mirian?" he asked, his words sending a shiver down her spine. "Isn’t it because you want it too?" He stepped forward, saying, "You like me as much as I like you, isn’t that why?"

Mirian swallowed, her cheeks heating up with shame. She couldn’t deny the spark she felt when Marcus kissed her, but she couldn’t admit it either, not when there was Detroit.

"No," she whispered, trying to sound convincing. "I was just...caught off guard."

Marcus’s eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing as he took another step closer. "Don’t lie to me, Mirian," he whispered, as he towered over her. "I can hear your lies, see the desire in your eyes. You feel it too."

Mirian’s heart skipped a beat as she tried to step back, but her feet seemed rooted to the spot. She lifted her gaze, meeting Marcus’s intense stare.

For a moment, they just locked eyes, the air thick with tension. Mirian’s pulse racing, her mind screaming at her to push him away, to deny the spark between them.

But her body seemed to have a mind of its own, her lips parting slightly, her breath catching in her throat.

Marcus’s eyes flashed with emotions, his gaze dropping to her lips before he leaned in, his mouth inches from hers. "I knew it," he whispered, his breath sending shivers down her spine. "You can’t deny it, Mirian. You want me."

His lips brushed against hers in a gentle kiss, as if he was testing the waters.

Mirian’s pulse spiked, her fists clenched. She should tell him off and leave, never look back, never think about this moment again.

But her body seemed to have other plans. Her lips softened, her fists relaxing as she leaned into the kiss. It was a gentle, exploratory kiss, but it sent shivers down her spine.

Marcus’s lips were warm, inviting, and Mirian found herself getting lost in the sensation. She was initiating a kiss she shouldn’t, her hands reaching out, wrapping around his strong frame like a vice.

He kissed her back, passionately and possessively as she moaned, her body arching into his as her lips moved in sync with his, when suddenly, the memory of Detroit’s face flashed in her mind.

She jerked back, her eyes flying open as she stared up at Marcus in horror. "No," she whispered, her voice shaking. "I...I should go."

She said and turned, trying to leave, but Marcus swept her off the ground and a yelp of shock escaped her lips as she found herself tossed over Marcus’s shoulder, heading toward the inner room.

She kicked and squirmed, trying to break free, but Marcus’s grip was like a vice. "Let me go!" she shouted, her fists pounding against his back.

Marcus didn’t respond, just strode into the next room, depositing her onto the bed with a gentle thud. Mirian scrambled to her knees, her eyes blazing with panic and fear. "Y– you, what are you trying to do?!"

Marcus leaned against the bedpost, watching her calmly, "Talk. We need to talk."

"B– by forcing me to stay here?" Mirian’s voice shook with anger and fear, her eyes darting around the clean room as if searching for an escape.

Marcus’s gaze never wavered, his expression unreadable. "By any means necessary."

Mirian’s eyes narrowed, her mind racing with suspicion. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"The person you like...he’s Zeta Detroit of the Dark Snow Pack, is he not?"

Mirian’s heart shuddered. He knew? How? Did Ryder tell him?

It was possible, because Ryder and Marcus were friends, so it wasn’t strange.

That blabbermouth, she cursed.

But Mirian’s biggest fear now was: if she turned Marcus down, would he expose her for having relationship with a disbeliever?

But somehow, she felt he wouldn’t. He’d risked his life to get her the herbs from the monsters’ territory. Her family said that Marcus had looked after them while she was gone...

"I’ll wrestle with him and when I win, you’ll no longer be his chosen mate. I heard that’s the Dark Snow Pack’s ways..."

"No!" she cried out. "You can’t!" she scrambled to him, her gaze fearful as she hurriedly shook her head. "He’s too strong. He’ll kill you. You can’t, Zeta."

Marcus blinked. For a moment, he seemed taken aback by Mirian’s outburst, her fear for his safety evident in her eyes.

Then, a slow smile spread across his face, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You’re worried about me," he said, his voice low and husky.

Mirian’s eyes widened, her face flushing with embarrassment. "N– no, I just don’t want you to get hurt," she stuttered, trying to cover up her true feelings. "You’re Ryder’s best friend and I don’t want him to be hurt over your demise. And, and the Luna too. She puts importance in your service to the pack," she looked up at him. "I don’t want her to, to lose a good warrior..."

Marcus’s smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with happiness. "You’re a terrible liar, Mirian." And with that, he claimed her lips in a fervent kiss.

This time, Mirian didn’t back away. She tried to, but the pull was too strong. In the end, she stopped resisting and let herself get swept away by the kiss.
