MATED TO THE SECRET ALPHA -
Chapter 100: God Of War
Chapter 100: God Of War
"And my Luna?" Ryder frowned. She liked her pack members too much, so he reluctantly added, "Her people? My people?"
The figure’s silence was oppressive, heavy with unspoken consequences, and Ryder’s heart sank with a growing sense of dread.
"They may not be the same as you," the figure warned, its voice devoid of emotion. "They could be humans, and you... a monster," it continued, the words dripping with unsettling implications. "Or perhaps it will be the other way around. The possibilities are endless, and the consequences are unpredictable."
Ryder’s eyes blazed with a fierce intensity as he shot them towards the figure, his fists clenched at his sides. His entire body seemed to vibrate with contained fury, as if he was struggling to hold back a storm of emotions. The air around him crackled with tension, heavy with the promise of a tempest about to unleash.
"Tell your master to find a solution," Ryder growled, his voice low and menacing, his eyes still blazing with fury. "I won’t let my people, my Luna, be torn apart by this...this uncertainty. Find a way to save them, to save us, or so help me..." Ryder’s threat trailed off, but the promise of violence and retribution hung in the air, an evident warning to the figure and its master.
The figure stayed silent, its hooded gaze fixed on Ryder with an unnerving intensity. The silence stretched out, a taut and brittle thing, until it seemed it might shatter at any moment. "I’ll pass your message," the figure finally spoke, its voice low and detached.
Then the space rippled once more and the figure disappeared into the void.
In another palace, a man on the throne, clad in resplendent red and white battle regalia, his imposing figure sat leisurely on a gold throne. His piercing red eyes, like two burning embers, seemed to bore into the figure that had just appeared in front of him.
It was the same figure who was with Ryder a moment ago.
"What brings you here, Shadow One?" the man on the throne asked, his voice low and even, but with a hint of curiosity.
Shadow One bowed deeply, its face still obscured by the shadows. "I come bearing his command, your majesty," he replied, his voice neutral. "He wants you to stop the Celestial Palace from falling."
The Majesty raised an eyebrow, his piercing red gaze intensifying as he listened to Shadow One’s words. "The Celestial Palace, you say?" he repeated, his voice dripping with intrigue. "And Snow wishes me to intervene?" He leaned forward, his massive frame seeming to loom over Shadow One, his eyes blazing with a fierce inner light.
"Tell me, Shadow One," he continued, his voice taking on a calculating tone, "what is Snow’s stake in this? What could possibly drive him to request my assistance in this matter? Doesn’t he want them all dead?"
Shadow One’s hooded gaze remained fixed on the floor, its face hidden in the shadows. "His change of mind was born from the fact that his future, his mate’s future, and those of their people was not certain."
The man’s expression darkened, his brow furrowed in concern. "He’s rejecting his only chance at fulfilling his long-awaited dreams just for that woman?"
"His only reason for defying the Celestial palace and almost ruining his own soul was for her sake, your majesty." The figure reminded and the man in the throne hissed.
The man’s face twisted in a snarl, his eyes blazing with a fierce inner light. "Don’t remind me of that," he spat, his voice venomous. "I am well aware of the sacrifices he’d made for that woman. Sacrifices that could have been avoided if he had only followed the path we laid out for him."
The man’s anger and frustration simmering just below the surface. "And now, he expects me to intervene on his behalf? To save him from the consequences of his own actions?" The man’s laughter was cold and mirthless, sending a shiver down Shadow One’s spine. "Does he know the consequences of interfering?"
Shadow One stayed silent. He too didn’t know.
The man on the throne sighed, his broad shoulders sagging beneath his ornate armor. "I hope he won’t regret this," he murmured, his voice tinged with a hint of melancholy. And with that, he vanished from sight, leaving Shadow One standing alone in the empty throne room.
The silence that followed was oppressive, heavy with the weight of unspoken consequences. Shadow One bowed its head, then turned and disappeared into the shadows, leaving the throne room to its eerie stillness.
...
A while later, the man reappeared in the Celestial Palace. The palace had been reduced to ruins, its once-majestic spires and towers shattering into fragments. Debris falling, screams of servants and goddesses falling to their deaths welcomed the man, as he took in the carnage.
Some goddesses shielded themselves with domes they’d created, which were threatening to shatter at any moment as the small individual domes couldn’t hold much against the monstrous power of the moon goddess.
The air was heavy with the scent of smoke, ozone, and the tang of divine energy.
The man’s piercing red gaze swept across the devastation, his expression unreadable. He walked calmly through the wreckage, his footsteps echoing off the shattered stone.
He seemed to be protected by unseen forces as all debris falling his way hovered in the air around him, none able to touch him.
As he made his way into the throne room, standing amidst the ruins - Aethera. Her eyes shedding crimson tears, body cracking open, as her white garment was dyed red - her own blood.
Before her were Mahina’s remains, buried in ruins, her once-beautiful face now a deathly pale, her eyes frozen in a permanent stare. Aethera’s gaze, filled with unbearable grief, shifted from Mahina’s lifeless body to the man standing before her.
"G– God of war... What are you doing here?" Aethera’s voice was different from earlier. It sounded eerily calm, almost detached, as if she was observing the scene from outside her own body.
