Chapter 59: A new bodyguard- 1
Silas’s POV
As I was scrolling through YouTube, waiting for the MV to release, my phone suddenly rang. It was an unknown number. I usually don’t pick up calls from unknown numbers, but the call kept coming again and again, which was so irritating that, in the end, I answered it.
(Silas) "Hello?"
(Ciel) "Finally! You picked up my call. I thought it was going to take ages for you to answer."
Wait, it’s Ciel? How did he get my number, and why is he calling me?
(Silas) "Why the hell are you calling me now? Don’t tell me you wanted to hear me curse at you."
(Ciel) "Your MV—oops, I mean my MV—is releasing today. Should we watch it together? After all, we’re really good brothers now."
(Silas) "Since when did you become my brother? You were just a beggar, an orphan raised in our pack. Don’t even think you’ll always get what you want."
(Silas) "Nothing is permanent. And calling Father that day to force me to quit the entertainment industry? That was your worst plan. But, because of that, something good happened."
(Ciel) "What do you mean by something good?"
(Silas) "Father apologized to me. He said the only reason he listened to you was because you’re adopted, and he didn’t want you to feel bad. But secretly, he transferred all the company documents to me. He wants me to be the president because he knows you can’t handle business."
(Ciel) "That’s a lie! Dad wouldn’t apologize to you. He didn’t do anything wrong. And Dad himself made me the president, so why would he suddenly change his mind?"
(Silas) "Because, in the end, I’m his biological son, not some adopted one. So, of course, I’m the rightful heir. Anyway, good luck with your MV. I hope you enjoy watching it."
After that, I hung up and immediately blocked Ciel.
Right then, the MV was released. And let me just say—I looked hella beautiful in it. Of course, I’m already beautiful in real life.
After that, I hit the gym for a workout. It’s good for my body, after all. When I stepped out, I saw the bodyguard who had asked for my autograph last time. He had silver hair, brown eyes, and, of course, a well-built body—well, he was a bodyguard, so that was expected.
But what was he doing here?
Today, many trainees and artists had talked to me. It was fun. Just as I was about to leave, the bodyguard stepped in front of me, making me stop. I looked at him.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Hello, my name is A. Well, A is my work name. My full name is Atlas, but you can just call me A."
That was... different. I’ve never heard of someone shortening Atlas to just A.
Did Damon assign him to be my bodyguard? Well, it wouldn’t be bad. Last time, I saw how good he was at his job. I think he’s really suited for it.
I decided to shake hands with him. After all, from today onward, he’d be with me 24/7. I might as well get comfortable with him.
"Pleasure to meet you again, Mr. Bodyguard."
"Yeah, you too."
Still, I had to confirm that he was really assigned to be my bodyguard. It wasn’t that I had trust issues, but I needed to be sure.
I took out my phone and called Damon, but he didn’t answer. A looked at me, probably wondering what I was doing. But I knew if I asked him directly, he’d just say, Don’t you trust me? I already told you I’m your bodyguard.
Just then, I got a message from Damon.
"I’ve assigned the bodyguard who escorted you last time. He’ll be joining you from today."
Couldn’t he have sent that message earlier? If he had, I wouldn’t have been this nervous.
I quickly looked up at A. He was smiling at me, so I smiled back.
"Let’s go. My workout is done."
He nodded, and we walked out of the company. A new and different car was waiting outside. A walked ahead and opened the door for me.
I didn’t get in immediately. Instead, I glanced at him.
"Whose car is this?" I asked.
"It’s provided by the company. From today onward, I’ll take you anywhere, anytime. After all, I’m your bodyguard, Mr. Silas."
"Oh, you don’t have to be so formal. Just call me by my name. No need for ’Mr.’"
"Okay, if you say so, Silas."
After that, I got into the car. But as soon as I did, a crowd of people suddenly banged on the car window.
For a second, I thought they were here to attack me. But then I noticed them holding my photos, flowers, and cards.
My fans?
I rolled down the window slightly.
"What’s up, everyone? How are you? Did you watch my drama?"
"Yeah! We saw your drama! You looked so badass in it! We’re your biggest fans!"
"Can we take a selfie with you?"
I was about to answer when Atlas interrupted.
"Silas doesn’t have time. If there’s a fan meeting, come then."
Then, he started driving.
I frowned. Why did he say that? I would have given them selfies and autographs. I was still new—I needed to connect with my fans!
Just then, Atlas spoke again.
"Silas, you shouldn’t spoil your fans from the start. If you give them autographs and selfies now, tomorrow there will be even more people. And the day after that, even more. Eventually, they’ll start coming here every single day."
I listened to Atlas, taking in his words.
"You should just wave at them and politely refuse, saying you’re busy right now."
"Thank you, Atlas, for telling me all this, but I also know what to do."
Atlas started driving after hearing me, and I shifted my attention to my phone.
I had uploaded a selfie I took at the gym on the Stargram app. When
I opened the app again to check if anyone had liked it, I saw that there were already many likes and comments.
