Chapter 48: The Dark Valley - 1

Silas’s POV

"I won’t say anything now."

"Why?"

"It’s my own will. By the way, do you wanna spend the night here? If not, then why are we still sitting here instead of leaving?"

I stand up and throw the wrappers into the garbage bag. We both step out of the convenience store.

"Silas, I saw the first episode of your drama. It was so captivating!"

"Really? Glad to hear that! You know, everyone is loving the drama, and that’s why I’m so happy. And guess what? I gained more than a million followers in just one night!"

"Wow, great achievement! Wait, tell me your Stargram ID. I’ll follow you too."

When I show Theron my account name, he immediately searches for it and follows me. He has 100 million followers, the same as Lysander. Gosh, I should also follow him back since it’s really Theron’s account. So, I follow him back.

"Wait... you also followed me back? Don’t tell me you want to talk about something naughty with me at night, right?"

"Like I want that... and if you say one more word, I swear I’ll unfollow you!"

He goes silent after hearing me. Should I grab a taxi? Or should I call Nekol to pick me up from here? I was thinking about all this when suddenly—

"OH MY... is that Theron?!"

"Today is my luckiest day! I got to meet Theron! Let’s go to him!"

When I glance in that direction, I see a group of girls and boys rushing toward us, shouting Theron’s name while recording videos. Thank god I was wearing a mask and a cap. Even if I wasn’t, I know I wouldn’t run into my fans like this.

I look at Theron—he looks terrified, like he’s seen a monster. And honestly, his fans do look like monsters with the way they’re charging at us. There are no bodyguards in sight. If he ends up in their hands, they’re going to crush him.

I grab Theron’s hand and start running.

"Silas, where are we going?"

"Don’t know! Let’s just run until your fans stop chasing us!"

But when I glance back while running, those fans are still chasing us, filming and taking pictures. Just then, Theron pulls me toward an exit sign. We keep running, not looking back—just running.

Finally, when we stop and glance back, no one is there. We both sigh in relief. I take a look around. Suddenly, the vibe of the area changes—it becomes dark. I don’t know why, but something feels off.

"Where are we right now?" I ask.

Theron glances around, then takes out his phone and looks at me.

"Silas... there’s no signal here."

No signal? What does he mean? I quickly take out my phone, and—damn it—there really is no network. I try to call Nekol, but the call doesn’t go through.

"It’s okay. Even if there’s no network, let’s just stay here for ten more minutes, then we’ll go back."

Suddenly, Theron grabs my hand tightly.

"Silas... did you really not realize where we are right now?"

I try to pull my hand away from his grip. "No, I didn’t. Where are we?"

Instead of answering, he glances around. After scanning the area, he looks back at me.

"I’m not sure... but I think this is Dark Valley."

My heart skips a beat. Dark Valley... the place near the Bloodfang Pack. One of the most dangerous and cruel places. I read about it while scrolling the internet.

The people of Dark Valley never leave their territory, but if someone steps inside... they kill without mercy.

It’s a haven for criminals and rogues—a place where criminals hide after committing crimes. No one dares to enter because if they do, they never make it out alive.

Just then, I hear a rustling sound. I quickly turn around. Theron is standing behind me.

"Theron, I think it’s better if we leave without drawing attention."

"Yes, but do you remember which way we came from? My scent is fading here."

I try to sniff out my own scent to track our path, but... I can’t sense it. It’s like some kind of barrier is blocking us.

We still take the risk and start walking down the first street ahead of us. The moment we take a step, we hear footsteps. And it’s not just one person—there are many.

"Theron, run!"

Just as we’re about to bolt, a thick fishing net is thrown over us, trapping us. A sweet scent fills the air, making my head dizzy. My eyelids grow heavy. Before passing out, I see a few legs standing in front of me.

After a while, when I open my eyes, I hear loud noises. My vision is blurry at first, so I blink repeatedly. Once my sight clears up, my eyes widen.

I’m on my knees, my hands and legs chained. Theron is in the same condition, but he just looks around silently. Is he not scared? What if they kill us?

We’re inside a mansion, surrounded by people—so many of them—with scars and tattoos. The eerie part? Everyone here shares those common traits.

And the way we’re sitting on the ground, bound in chains... it feels like we’re the criminals here.

"Kill them!"

"Gouge their eyes out! I want to eat them!"

"That little one’s flesh will be tasty, I’m sure!"

"No, no! Let’s cut their bodies into pieces!"

What the fuck?! Are they seriously talking about eating humans like it’s nothing? Like we’re just... chicken?

And why are they specifically talking about me like I’m their main target?

This is really starting to scare me now.

What if I really got killed here? No one would know how I died. For everyone, it would feel like I just disappeared into thin air.

I stretch my hand, wipe the sweat from my face, and glance at Theron. He was already looking at me.

"Theron, what now? Are we gonna get killed here?" I whisper.

"Let’s wait and see what happens," he replies.
