Chapter 136: Lupin pack - 31
Silas’s POV
"I will also go with Velrik. If you’re ready, then I’ll send him."
Of course, my condition was that because who knows what might happen or what they might do. Just in case, I’ll be there for him.
But as I spoke, my eyes darted to the soldiers—their faces told me I had struck a nerve. They were glancing at each other, and sweat was forming on their foreheads.
"But what if you come between their procedure?" Damon asked.
"What kind of procedure are they going to do that I’d end up meddling in, Mr. Damon? If this is safe for the kid, then why are you telling me not to interfere? We should go and see what kind of procedure this is."
"Okay."
As soon as I heard Damon agree, I was like, really? I wasn’t expecting him to say yes, considering how he had been refusing and glaring at both me and the kid. It was unexpected.
Just then, a soldier standing behind everyone took two steps forward. He still didn’t fully step out from behind the others and said,
"Your Highness, there are privacy protocols. We can’t let anyone enter the lab. Doing so would break the rules."
"Excuse me, you’re taking the kid there, and now you’re telling me I can’t go with him? This is suspicious—there’s something fishy about that lab and about all of you."
"Your Highness, this Omega is trying to slander us."
Damon was about to say something when, out of nowhere, Theron blurted out,
"Oh my gosh, I’m pregnant!"
Hearing him, I momentarily forgot all the issues and turned to him. His hands were on my shoulders, and I pushed them off, giving him a judging, disappointed look.
"Dude, you’re an Alpha. You can’t get pregnant."
"That’s what I’m saying, Shorty. Why are we talking so illogically here? If you want to fight someone, just let me know—I’ll take on a WWE match. Why are you arguing with a soldier?
And you, soldier, why are you picking a fight with an ordinary... weak Omega? If you really want to fight, then fight with those wolves!"
Theron’s words left everyone speechless because, honestly, who would dare respond when he talks like that?
"And even if the kid is, just like you said, infected, wouldn’t he have shifted already? Why isn’t he trying to bite Silas? Why is he trembling in fear and hugging him? So you’re saying he shifted just to be scared of everyone?"
Well said, Theron, well said. What he said had a ring of truth. They kept insisting Velrik was infected, but when Theron pointed out that the kid wasn’t biting me, it gave me even more to say.
"Theron has a point. Why isn’t he biting me? He’s not biting me because he’s not infected. You’re mistaken."
Damon scratched his forehead, looking like he had a headache from all this mess. And just then, Velrik shifted back into his human form.
When he shifted, everyone stared at him, stunned—like, what just happened?
Because once an infected person shifts, they can’t turn back into their human form. They remain wolves, hunting people down.
"See? I told you, he’s not infected."
Those soldiers quietly left, like, wow. In the end, they couldn’t take Velrik with them. But why the hell were they going to such lengths to take him? It felt like they were from some human organization trying to kidnap him or something.
I sat back down on the bed because I was still feeling awful from the fever. Honestly, standing that long had taken a toll on me. The moment I sat down, I felt like lying down, so I did.
"Mumma... What is happening? Are you hurt somewhere?"
Velrik was sitting beside me, and he started to pat my stomach with worried eyes.
"No, Velrik, I’m fine. I’m just tired."
And just then, Theron picked up Velrik in his arms.
To be honest, I was worried about that kid. That’s why I couldn’t even close my eyes to rest. I was afraid that if I fell asleep, they might take Velrik to the lab.
But my eyes kept closing even though I tried to keep them wide open. Just then, Damon suddenly touched my forehead, and I flinched, opening my eyes. I saw Damon sitting beside me, his hand on my head, and everyone else standing there, looking at me.
But why is Damon patting my head? It’s not like we’re that close.
"What are you doing, Mr. Dam—"
Before I could finish, my eyes closed, and I fell asleep. After that, I don’t know what happened. When I woke up, it was already night.
I sat up, feeling really fine after getting some rest. It was refreshing.
Just then, I noticed I was covered with a blanket. I remembered that when I lay down, I didn’t take a blanket. Which means Theron or Lysander must have covered me, or it could have been Damon.
I took off the blanket and stepped down from the bed. I glanced around—I was alone in the room, and even the lights were dim.
Where did everyone go?
I turned and took a step toward the door. Just as I was about to leave, the washroom door opened, and Damon came out. My eyes widened. Was he with me the whole time? And where were the others and Velrik?
"You’re awake. How are you feeling now, sleepyhead?" Damon said, wiping his hands with tissues.
"I’m feeling a lot better, but where is everyone? Why are you the only one here?"
"That kid was hungry, so they took him to get something to eat," Damon said, sitting down on the sofa.
I didn’t know what else to do, so I went back and sat on the bed. I glanced at Damon, but when he glanced back at me, I quickly looked around like I hadn’t been looking at him at all.
"Silas, why do you care about that kid so much? Kael told me you found him in the cave. He’ll be sad when we leave from here, so let him go now. It’s not like you’re going to take him to the Bloodfang pack with you."
