Chapter 134: Episode 12.1 Be Careful Chairman Mao!

Several miles away from City B, Chairman Mao of the Hunter Association has his phone in his ears as he overlooks City S’s bright, bustling nightlife through the floor-to-ceiling glass window of his hotel room. A perceptible smile is present on his face while he listens to whatever the other person is saying at the other end of the line.

"Bwahahaha!" Chairman Mao suddenly burst out laughing. His face was as red as a ripe tomato, showing how amused he was. "Shen Yuan did?! Hahaha, that’s good! That’s good. He did a great job!"

He stopped to hear the other’s response.

"Well, I think I’ll be hearing an earful from the prime minister, but what the heck, I can handle it. Haha."

Chairman Mao then noticed someone moving behind him, so he turned to look at the person and smiled when he recognized him.

The gentle scent of chamomile wafted in the air, easing anyone who could smell it.

Since he heard everything he needed and wanted to hear, Chairman Mao decided to wrap up the call, "Jinhai, make sure to provide support to Shen Yuan once he’s already in action. Anyway, good job to you for managing the two fiery omegas. Bye for now."

And so, he put back his phone in his pants pocket.

"You seemed to be having a good time at your job for the first time in a long while," the person noted.

Although his age and experience were apparent in how he carried himself, the person any could identify as omega with his small stoic face and petite body looked not older than a man in his forties. He’s graceful and well-maintained, an image that goes well when he stands beside or in front of the handsome senior alpha before him.

His frigid beauty blends well with the coyness of the chairman.

Chairman Mao wore a mischievous smile on his face and winked at his husband, "Well, someone interesting popped up so, I’m just amusing myself. You know Shen Yuan?"

And so, Chairman Mao started recounting everything he’d seen and heard about Bai Tingfeng’s husband over a nice tea.

His omega husband furrowed his forehead and raised his at the end of the story, "You know what, you’re an asshole."

"Urk!" Chairman Mao choked on his tea when he heard his husband give his painfully honest opinion about him. "Why? What did I do?"

"Never mind what you did before, Long-ge. But you just pitted your two subordinates against each other? No matter what the situation is, that’s absolutely a scummy move for a boss," Chairman Mao’s omega responded without pulling his punches.

The mighty chairman almost spit out blood, "But, I only did it with the best interest in mind. The boy from Mo Family was getting too comfortable in his seat. It’s hindering his growth that he’s supposed to be experiencing, so I thought a competition could shake things up."

His omega rolled his eyes, "Well, good luck with that. If that happens to me I would rather file for resignation and stamp it on your face."

Chairman Mao turned frigid. Shen Yuan wouldn’t back down at the last minute, right? That young omega has a very strong personality so if he got fed up getting dragged around by him, a resignation without further consideration is indeed plausible.

"Don’t say things like that, darling. Besides, you’re the school director of Qilin Academy and the beloved husband of the one and only Mao Huanlong. Who has the balls to give you a hard time?"

The alpha’s eyes lit up when he remembered something.

"Oh, I remembered that Shen Yuan studied in your school starting from preschool to college so, you must have memories of that child. s he like the cute and very loveable Yanyan? I’m just curious because Shen Yuan is really—"

Clack!

The double-wall glass cup that was originally in his husband’s hand slipped and crashed to the floor.

Thankfully, it’s empty or else, it will cause a bigger mess.

"Are you feeling okay? Do you need a doctor? Shall I call them?" Chairman Mao quickly went to his beloved with a worried expression on his face.

"No, I’m fine. It’s just that stressful memories suddenly rushed into my head."

Chairman Mao watched his husband gracefully massage his head with his long and beautiful fingers. But he couldn’t help but notice that his youthful darling suddenly added five years in his face in a flash.

He stood up to pick up the bigger shards and placed them safely on the coffee table. They will call for room service to properly clean that up later but for now, Chairman Mao wanted to learn more about his husband’s current state.

"Was Shen Yuan quite a handful when he was younger? The teacher’s enemy number one?"

His husband shook his head. His expression is rather complicated, not distinguishable if he agrees or not.

"Both of your questions are too tricky to answer, Long-ge," his omega sighs. "Shen Yuan couldn’t be considered a teacher’s enemy because he’s one of the best students that ever graduated from Qilin Academy. He’s smart, popular, and simply excellent. In fact, if he only didn’t pursue modeling and threaded the path carved in the financial industry by the Shen Family, I believe that he’d be a huge power player in the economy."

"However..."

Chairman Mao looked at his husband confusedly. This was the first time that he’d seen his articulate husband at a loss for words! What the hell did Shen Yuan do to his husband before?

But he must say, this comment from his husband resonates with what Xia Jinhai told him. It was a surprise that Shen Yuan could mentor A Class awakeners. Not anyone could have insight when it comes to superpowers especially if it’s towards a different type.

The omega took a deep breath and combed his shiny black hair through his fingers, arranging his thoughts.

"To put it subtly, Shen Yuan is the most obstinate student that I ever encountered. Despite his talents and intelligence, he doesn’t get involved in extracurricular activities that he isn’t interested in. No amount of persuasion could make him say yes. And when he sees something he doesn’t like, he’ll do his best and will stop at nothing to get rid of it."

"Like?" Chairman Mao pressed for more answers and that was when his husband’s face crumpled.

"He’s in junior high school when my school’s attrition rate has gone all-time high since the 122 years of Qilin Academy’s foundation."

Remembering it was simply painful for the school director because he’s the only school head who ever experienced a 24 percent dropout rate in the school’s history.

Not that he blames Shen Yuan for it because it’s not solely that child’s fault.

"Junior High is the time when bullies started to pop up and this is more prominent in the environment where elites and normal citizens flourish. Shen Yuan, on the other hand, hated the inconvenience that it created in the school setting. Thus, he started going after them. Even now, the school board and I don’t know what Shen Yuan did to make quite several students drop out. Some say it’s physical bullying, while others say it’s coercion and power-tripping. But really, all of them are unconfirmed so the board had to sweep it under the rug. Most of them came from well-off families but they didn’t retaliate and just retreated silently. It’s a mystery."

"It’s that bad?" Chairman Mao carefully asked. That and the present Shen Yuan don’t seem to change at all. Should he be more careful from now on?

"Yes," his husband replied. "But I must say, that’s probably the era when there’s hardly any scruples among the students in my school. The period of peace at Qilin Academy."

Shen Yuan made a legacy in the school not just for himself but also him too, the school director. And it’s for both good and bad reasons.

Chairman Mao internally agreed. That’s only natural, who would dare to act like a king when a real big boss is watching?

The chairman breathes a sigh, one that is uncertain but relieved, "Thankfully, Shen Yuan and I are friends. I’m also his senior so he will not treat me that badly."

His husband clicked his tongue to the side, "Even though. You should still stop using vague underhanded methods on him. If you wanted to make him do something, then politely ask. I believe Shen Yuan is a reasonable young man, who would listen if you mean well."

"Stop pulling some sociopathic stunt, Long-ge. People will misunderstand you," The omega rolled his eyes.

"I will try. Don’t worry about that," He hugged his husband from the back. "It’s okay as long as you understand and accept this alpha, I could fight the whole world for you."

The omega scrunched his face as if he smelled rancid cheese. "Seriously? We are both in our 60s and yet you’re still trying to impress me with your cheesy lines."

"Well, I could still impress you with other things, darling," Chairman Mao whispered to his spouse’s sensitive ears.

Ticklish, the omega brushed off his husband’s hug with reddish cheeks, "Get out of here! You still have a conference to attend tomorrow. Don’t be a rascal!"

Chairman Mao grunted. Damn, he’s reminded of the boring side of his work. The desire to retire once again resurfaced.

"To the new blood of S-Class awakeners and leaders. Please hurry up and grow. This old man is getting too old for this work!" He internally cried.
