Chapter 340 It’s Only Been a Day!
Chapter 340: 340 It’s Only Been a Day!
That day, Old Wang wrote a peculiar entry in the Kamar-Taj library logbook.
To others, it read like a bizarre urban legend—completely absurd and utterly unbelievable.
This kind of writing belonged in a fantasy novel, not in the personal journal of a master of the mystic arts.
But to Old Wang himself, every time he read that entry, it felt like staring into the pages of a horror story. It chilled him to the bone.
Here’s what the entry said:
Today, a woman came into the library. She looked like the Ancient One’s new apprentice.
Her name is Kagura Hitomi.
She wore a form-fitting cheongsam that was almost tight enough to be battle-ready. Her skin—like jade...
Anyway, she’s stunning. Absolutely refreshing to look at.
I was genuinely happy to see someone like her join Kamar-Taj, and she seemed deeply interested in dimensional mysticism.
But... whatever positive feelings I had toward her vanished within half an hour.
This woman read through half the library in one morning!
How is that possible?
It makes no sense!
It defies logic!
It defies science!
She told me I shouldn’t look at the world through a conventional lens, but—
How on Earth did she manage to do it?
At first, I didn’t believe her. So, I quizzed her using some of the trickiest questions from our books.
But...
She answered every single one without hesitation.
Even the ones I don’t understand myself—she explained them like they were child’s play.
Kagura Hitomi.
Who is she, really?
Could she be even more gifted, more powerful than the Ancient One herself?
If she continues at this rate, there’s no doubt—she’ll become the next Sorcerer Supreme.
May Kamar-Taj be blessed.
May the mystic arts be protected.

Afternoon – Kamar-Taj Training Grounds
"Good afternoon, Doctor Strange!" Kagura waved at Stephen Strange with a cheery grin. "Ready to get beaten up again today?"
"Hmph! You’re cocky, I’ll give you that." Strange struck a practiced stance. "But I’m not the same man you fought yesterday!"
"Oh? Sounds like someone’s feeling confident," Kagura said with a teasing smile.
"As I should be! Don’t underestimate a man’s pride." Strange straightened up. "After a full night of study and a morning of meditation."
"I’ve deepened my understanding of dimensional magic. I think I’m more than ready to take you on. Maybe you’ll be the one eating dirt today!"
"My, my—so much confidence." Kagura chuckled. "Well then, let me share a little secret... I’ve changed since yesterday too."
"Hmph! Big words, Kagura," Strange replied, unfazed.
He raised his arms and summoned twin whips of orange energy—basic but formidable weapons forged through dimensional magic, a staple among mystic practitioners.
"Bring it on! I’ll show you just how weak that little dagger of yours is when faced with real magic!"
"In that case—here I come." Kagura straightened her posture and took a step forward, her tone playful. "Just try not to cry too much, okay?"
"Come at me!"
With a flick of his wrists, Strange cracked his glowing orange whip and assumed a battle stance.
’FWISH—!’
Kagura’s hands trembled ever so slightly, and then burst into a brilliant display of dimensional energy.
Orange strands of mystic light coiled around her fingertips, expanding and splitting apart, before folding into intricate three-dimensional geometric patterns.
In the next instant, she extended both arms forward, and from her palms materialized two dazzling mystic fans—constructed entirely from condensed dimensional energy.
These were the legendary dimensional energy fans once used by the Ancient One in the MCU—a high-level technique completely inaccessible to those without deep mastery of the mystic arts.
Strange stared in shock: "???"
Kagura smirked. "Eh-heh~ Ready for another round of punishment?"
Strange looked completely dumbfounded. "Wait—hold on, it’s only been a day! When the hell did you learn that?!"
Kagura tilted her head, lips curling into a smug smile. "Today."
’Whoosh! Whoosh!’
’Buzz! Buzz!’
Orange sparks exploded in every direction as dimensional spells collided midair, sending a dazzling storm of energy fragments scattering like fireworks.
Stephen Strange truly was a prodigy.
After just one day of training, he was already able to wield the most basic of mystic weapons with a level of competence that was impressive by any standard.
If he were any other student, the masters of Kamar-Taj would surely be singing his praises.
But Stephen Strange wasn’t just any student.
He was destined to become the Sorcerer Supreme—and he had to get there in the shortest time possible.
Fortunately or unfortunately for him, his training partner wasn’t an average student either.
Dimensional magic is powered by mental strength.
And mental strength depends entirely on the practitioner’s comprehension and mastery of the mystic arts.
So for Kagura—who had practically emptied half the library in a single morning—her depth of knowledge had already surpassed that of most sorcerers.
At this point, she could likely go toe-to-toe with the strongest mages at Kamar-Taj.
In fact, the only thing separating her from elites like Kaecilius or even the Ancient One was pure battle experience.
Regardless, with her borderline-cheating "brain data download" ability, Strange’s natural talent only allowed him to graduate from getting destroyed to getting consistently pummeled.
This was inevitable.
Stephen Strange was someone you absolutely couldn’t let get complacent.
Only by constantly putting pressure on him could he be driven to push himself—unleashing his full potential.
’Mr. Strange, believe me, this is the only way I can help you.’
In the heat of battle, while throwing punches at Stephen Strange, Kagura spoke silently to herself.
’I’m not doing this for fun, you know.’
[TL Note – Doubt!!]
’If I don’t beat some sense into you now, we might both end up dead in a future fight—killed by some overwhelming force from the Dark Dimension.’
’Worse yet, the entire world could be swallowed by despair.’
’Even if I manage to help the sorcerers get through this crisis, I can’t stay here forever protecting Earth’s reality.’
The title of Sorcerer Supreme belongs to you, Stephen Strange. That’s a responsibility you’ll have to shoulder eventually.
’I’m not going to do your job for you.’
’After all, it’s not like the Ancient One is paying me a salary, right?’
’Besides, I plan to live a nice, happy life in this world.’
’And that happy, carefree life definitely doesn’t include taking on the ridiculously exhausting job of Sorcerer Supreme.’
’Whoosh—!’
Kagura’s mystic light fan clashed with Stephen Strange’s mystic whip, sending a cascade of sparks into the air like a miniature constellation exploding into being.
The shockwave rippled outwards, forcing Stephen Strange to stumble backward.
After all, Kagura was wielding top-tier mystic weaponry.
With that one heavy blow, Strange’s mystic whip snapped like a twig, and a glowing slash was carved across his side.
"Ugh, that hurts!" Strange winced. "Damn it! I was hoping to get through today without any new injuries!"
"Oh?" Kagura smiled. "But if you don’t get hurt, you won’t grow faster. As long as you survive, either I or the Ancient One can patch you up in no time, right?"
"Healing the wounds doesn’t take away the pain, Miss Kagura!" Strange steadied himself again.
"I’m a doctor, you know! I probably understand injuries better than you do!"
"Well then, good luck!" Kagura lunged forward again. "You can surrender anytime, of course—but if you do, I’m taking your dinner."
"Like hell I’m surrendering! I won’t give up my dinner without a fight!"
