Chapter 493 - 493: Devil God
"A massacre in Tiamut's Main Hospital!"
"Three nurses and one doctor have been murdered!"
"It's been conclusively determined that the perpetrator was a former genius, Zachary Lokiah. The camera recordings show him ruthlessly killing them!"
The television played in a house with frightened-looking people watching it—it was the Lokiah family—and when they saw Zachary's face appear in the news, they felt their hearts drop to the pit of their stomachs.
"Zachary… Why?"
The mother of Zachary teared up and hugged the chest of her husband—he was looking coldly at the television.
Their family name had already been ruined by Zachary after the truth about his doping scandal came out.
Every day of the year they had been reminded of that fact—Montclair City is barely welcoming them anymore—they had all been fired from their jobs.
Thus, they moved out of the city into a nice little town, but the infamy of Lokiah's name stayed with them, and even these townspeople had heard about it.
There was nowhere they could really go to escape that name—maybe if they moved to a foreign country, but that was a long process.
However, they thought that the worst was over—they had no idea—it was getting even worse.
Zachary was now officially a murderer—Lokiah name would forever be associated with the crime.
"H-he couldn't possibly be coming here, right?"
Zachary's little sister asked in fear.
She could barely recognize Zachary anymore—he had always been a pretty arrogant and cold figure—they weren't really close.
But she never thought he would become a murderer.
"Z-Zachary doesn't know that we've moved, so it will be alright."
The mother said, but just in case, she went to the door and made sure it was locked—locked it was indeed.
"This bastard should just go and die. He's not my son anymore!"
The father said, and with an angry press of a remote, closed the television so he didn't have to hear more about Lokiah name being dragged through the mud.
…
A taxi rolled to the sidewalk of Cloudy Street.
"W-we're here."
The taxi driver said with a gulp, looked at the front mirror, and saw Zachary just eerily smiling in his direction.
"Thank you."
Zachary said, and then stabbed his finger through the taxi driver's throat—he gasped with blood spurting out from the hole in his neck—he tried to open the door, but it was locked.
He tried to unlock the door with his bloody hands, but it was so slippery, and in the end, he gave up and slumped back in his seat, his eyes wide with terror.
The life vanished from his eyes.
Click! Swing!
Zachary opened the door, took in the fresh air of the outside world, and closed the door—bang!
"The air is fresh~ The ground is hard~ and the life is just beginning~"
He sang, then turned around and looked across the street towards a white-painted house—it was Hunter Residence.
"Lalala~"
Zachary jogged across the street, jumped over the small white fence, and walked down a short rock path to the front door.
"Ahem~"
After clearing his throat, he knocked on the door hard and waited with his bloody hands behind his back.
Footsteps sounded—it sounded like someone was walking down the stairs—and then the door opened.
"Hello…?"
Karma started with a greeting but then saw that with his normal eye level, he could only see at the person's chest, so he had to look way up.
The smiling face greeted him back—it was creepy and unsettling—it didn't take long for him to realize who he was.
"You…"
Karma's senses peaked with danger, and then Zachary's finger thrust came in his way—that finger killed the taxi driver, and it was still bloody.
"Iron Style, Iron Cross!"
Karma crossed his arms in front of his face—the finger stabbed into his arm and sent him flying back.
Thump!
Karma smashed into the stairs, tumbling down to the bottom, and a hole appeared in his forearm—it was bleeding furiously.
"Iron Style? You're using the same dogshit style as your son. Did you teach him that?"
Zachary hunched over, walked through the door, and laughed as he looked around the humble, normal-looking house.
He expected something more—more grandeur and opulence—but it looked like the Hunter family preferred to live humbly.
"Urgh… What are you doing here, Zachary?"
Karma asked coldly and slowly climbed back to his feet.
'This is not the same Zachary that fought my son in the nationals. I thought that he lost his martial soul and was in constant medical care.
'It looks like he has entered the realm of Martial Grandmaster. So am I, but my martial soul is still recovering, and I am not yet at full strength.'
"What am I doing here? Well, I thought about killing Kiernan's little daddy and then waiting here till he returns from the championship.
"I am already imagining the look when he sees your rotting corpse in the ground, ahh… Priceless. I will then fight him, and I will kill him."
Zachary said with a chuckle.
"You're a lunatic. I saw in the news what you did. You will get caught eventually."
Karma said coldly.
"I'm not worried about getting caught."
Zachary said with a chuckle and then sensed something—he turned around and grabbed Julian's fist.
"Tch!"
Julian clicked his tongue.
"Oh, Julian… Haha, Kiernan's sidekick is also here. That's great. Looks like this will be a two-for-one deal.
"I am already thinking about hanging Julian from the ceiling, right in front of the front door, so when Kiernan returns, he'll be greeted with your dangling corpse.
"And then I'll have his daddy's corpse nailed to the living room wall."
Julian tried to pull his fist off Zachary's hand but was unable to, and then Zachary swung his fist and punched him down to the ground.
BANG!
Julian's head got smashed into the floorboard, causing blood to gush out from his nose and mouth.
"Julian!"
Karma sprang forward, brought all the strength from his martial soul, and rained punches at Zachary—but they were harmlessly blocked by Zachary's powerful arms.
"I don't know what happened to me in the hospital, but my martial soul is now… strong. It's way stronger than your soul. It is stronger than Julian's soul. And it is even stronger than Kiernan's soul.
"I've reawakened as Devil God!"
