Male Lead's Canon Fodder Wife -
Chapter 1474 - 1474: Sudden Visit ( 1 )
Hearing her mother's question, Dong Huang replied, "Mother, Xiao Huang is waiting for Father and Brother to come back. But I was too hungry, so I drank some soy milk."
Rubbing her daughter's head, Lu Jueyu smiled and said, "Mother is also hungry. Let's find something to cushion our stomachs first."
Dong Huang nodded, then hesitated and asked, "Mother, if we eat first, will we be too full to eat with Father and Brother?"
"Don't worry, we will only eat a little."
Hearing this, Dong Huang nodded and said, "Mother, Xiao Huang wants a steamed bun."
"Okay."
Meanwhile, Li Chenmo and Dong Li were checking the fertilizers when Jiang Zemin arrived with a group of men.
Seeing them approach, Li Chenmo asked, "Brother Jiang, what brings you here today? Do you need more fertilizer?"
Jiang Zemin smiled and replied, "Brother Li, sorry to interrupt your work. These comrades are staff from the capital. They have come to visit you."
Li Chenmo nodded at them and asked, "May I know the purpose of your visit?"
One of the men smiled and said, "Comrade Li, we received a report from the brigade regarding your composting method and greenhouse setup. We are here to learn more about both."
Hearing this, Li Chenmo raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
Seeing his reaction, one of the staff stepped forward and asked, "Comrade Li, do you still have any compost left? And would it be possible for us to visit your greenhouse?"
Li Chenmo thought for a moment before replying, "Comrade, it's not impossible for you to visit my family's greenhouse. But as for the compost, we have already donated all of it to the production team. So, there is none left at home."
The staff already knew about the donation but came anyway, hoping for a chance that Li Chenmo still had some left.
The data submitted by An Xuyuan had shown that Li Chenmo's compost significantly improved soil quality over time. When used alongside manure-based fertilizers, crop yields improved even further.
After the report was discussed in a meeting, many leaders were eager to replicate the results.
However, while they now had the method, preparing compost still took at least a month. That's why some officials sent their subordinates to visit Li Chenmo directly, hoping to acquire some ready-made compost.
Now that they knew there was none, the staff's expressions visibly darkened. It would be hard to explain to their supervisor if they returned empty-handed.
Ignoring their reactions, Li Chenmo said, "Comrades, I still have work to finish. If you'd like to visit the greenhouse, you will have to wait a little while."
Jiang Zemin nodded and said, "That's fine, Brother Li. We came unannounced, so we will wait."
"Alright."
After the brief conversation, Li Chenmo and Dong Li pushed their carts back to the pig pen. When they arrived, the capital staff were stunned by the number of pigs being raised.
They glanced at Jiang Zemin, who remained calm and unaffected.
Feeling curious, one of the staff asked, "Comrade Jiang, does the brigade know how many pigs this family is raising?"
Jiang Zemin nodded with a smile and replied, "Of course. The brigade secretary personally approved it. I was the one who delivered the piglets."
After saying that, he walked over to take a closer look. Compared to typical pig pens, the smell here was noticeably lighter.
The pens were clean, and the pigs themselves looked healthy and clean. Even the usual loud grunting was rarely heard.
When he stepped closer, he was stunned by the size of the pigs. After a brief pause, he asked, "Brother Li, these pigs are huge. How much do they weigh?"
Li Chenze, who was nearby, heard the question and walked over. Smiling, he replied, "We just weighed them and did physical exams not long ago. Each pig weighs between 380 and 420 kilograms."
Jiang Zemin's eyes widened in shock at his words. That meant the average weight was around 400 kilograms per pig. And with sixty pigs in total…
Doing the math quickly, he sucked in a sharp breath. That was a total of 24,000 kilograms. If they earned five work points per kilogram, that would be 120,000 work points in total.
Even with a bountiful harvest, adding in that number in the calculation would mean every brigade member could end up receiving about 10% less grain than usual. It wasn't a massive number, but to the farmers, it was critical.
Noticing his reaction, Li Chenze asked, "Comrade, is something wrong?"
Shaking his head, Jiang Zemin replied, "No, I'm just surprised that your family not only raised so many pigs, but also raised them so well."
Hearing this, Li Chenze laughed and said, "Well, that's to be expected. These pigs eat better than we do and they are treated like royalty."
Jiang Zemin looked toward the feeding area and noticed corn, soybeans, wheat, and vegetables being used as pig feed. Suddenly, everything made sense.
If they ate this well, no wonder they grew so large. Even he would gain weight eating like that. Not wanting to get in the way, he finally said, "Comrade, I will wait outside."
"Alright."
After Jiang Zemin left, a flicker passed through Li Chenze's eyes. Thankfully, they had used the cooked feed today. If anyone had seen their secret pig feed that contained ingredients that couldn't be sourced from the mountains, it would be hard for them to explain it.
Thirty minutes later, they finished their work. After washing the dirt off their hands and feet, they left the pig pen and returned home.
Li Chenmo walked across the bamboo bridge, followed by his son, Jiang Zemin, and the staff from the capital. When they arrived at his house, they saw the large gate and the courtyard house beyond it.
Noticing their gazes, Jiang Zemin pretended to be clueless, deliberately avoiding their questioning looks.
After opening the gate, Li Chenmo said, "Please, come in, everyone."
Just as he put down the buckets, Dong Huang bolted out of the kitchen and ran toward him. Seeing her dash over so fast, Li Chenmo said, "Xiao Huang, don't run so fast. Be careful of falling."
