King Scorpion was proving itself worthy of the Demon Rank. Not only did it possess seemingly endless vitality, but its strength and speed defied the limitations of its size. Those qualities weren’t very rare among Madness-driven beasts, but when combined with its Abilities, the Demon became a much greater threat.

High-speed regeneration that reversed whatever damage dealt to it, corrosive poison that could melt through almost anything, and perhaps the worst of them all, a form of hydrokinesis.

The Demon itself seemed immune to the effects of its poison so remaining within within the toxic swamp was the best strategy at its disposal. The problem was that the three puny humans fighting it stayed out of reach.

The Madness clouding its judgment demanded that it go after them directly. It curled up and wrapped its segmented tail around itself. The arrows launched at it from above had no effect when it was like this.

Currants ran through the toxic swamp and turned it into a massive whirlpool in a matter of seconds. The curled-up Kind Scorpion was at its center and the purple liquid seemed to condense right under it.

BAM!!!

A sudden eruption launched the purple sphere into the air. It was aimed at the human who was deemed to be the most dangerous.

King Scorpion unwrapped itself and was about to attack, but the moment it did, a giant broad sword came swinging down at it. Guarding against it, the Demon launched its tail at the human.

With how large it was the tip of the bulbous stinger would have crushed the human instead of piercing it, but that wasn’t the Demon’s aim. All it did was bring it close enough to ensure its target wouldn’t be able to evade the jet of poison that burst out like a beam.

The corrosive purple liquid should have been enough to burn the flesh of any living being, but that’s only if it reached its target. The torrent splashed against something and scattered. An invisible wall blocked its way.

"GRAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

"OH SHUT UP!"

Cracks spread through King Scorpion’s arm and the blow from the giant sword sent it hurtling down toward the toxic swamp below. Once again currants ran through the pond and the liquid gathered around a single spot. It created a cushion for the Demon to fall on and limited the damage it could have sustained from the fall.

"GRAAAAAAA!!!"

As the damage to its right arm healed, the Demon swung the other at the sky. Around it, five miniature whirlpools condense. As their speed accelerated, each one suddenly exploded into a sharp pillar that launched upward.

A whistle reached the Demon’s ears and one of the purple pillars moved following its will. Several arrows sank into it just then and the blue flames that exploded from them became a reminder of an archer’s presence.

Giving him no mind, King Scorpion returned its focus to the puny human above. She had already moved to evade the purple venom, shrinking the giant sword to increase her speed. The pillars bent and turned, becoming enormous vipers chasing after an insect.

The puny human tried slashing at them, but with each one being made entirely from the purple venom, whatever damage she did mattered little.

Still focusing on the puny human, King Scorpion leaned down and plunged its arms into the toxic swamp, raising its tail over its head. The stinger moved ever so slightly as it tracked the movements of the human in the sky. The bulbous end around it bulged, the carapace covering it splitting from the pressure condensed inside.

BOOM!

The pressure released in an instant, the power behind it causing the Demon’s entire body to recoil like a tank, clearing its immediate surroundings of the purple venom.

The round it launched reached the human in a fraction of a second and pierced the invisible wall, forcing her to block with the giant sword.

The invisible barrier didn’t disappear, however. It still blocked the five torrents, and though they couldn’t reach the human inside, they still pinned her in place allowing the Demon to lock onto her.

Once again, pressure began to build up in the bulbous end of the scorpion tail, stretching the carapace to its limit. King Scorpion smirked under the visor of its helmet. The next shot was looking to be much more powerful than the previous one and it had no doubt that it would bring the end of its first prey.

Just as it was about to fire, something flashed in the corner of its eye. Another human, this one glowing a brilliant yellow, blasted down toward it like a bolt of lightning.

The Demon was too late to adjust its aim and could only lower its body in a desperate attempt to evade, but its tail was a lost cause. The lightning blasted right through it, severing everything above the base.

The lightning struck the ground a few meters away before taking off to the sky once more. The severed tail fell a short distance away, and with nothing to hold back the pressure it exploded and splattered the compressed venom everywhere.

"_______!!!!"

With lightning coursing through its body, King Scorpion was left paralyzed, unable to even roar or cry out in pain. The halo over its head wavered and almost disappeared. At the same time, the venom torrents it controlled lost their shape and plummeted to the swamp below like spilled water.

The Demon redirected its focus to healing its wound, but the process was significantly slower. A shadow fell over it just then and it looked up to see a massive pillar blocking the sun.

"DON’T YOU DARE RUN NOW, STUPID MONKEY!!!!!!!"

Like the blade of a giant guillotine, the broad sword held by the puny human descended. Its size rendered the edge into a wide dull surface, and instead of cutting, crushing appeared to be the main purpose behind it.

Unable to move, the desperate King Scorpion put everything into its Force Field, coating its entire body into it.

It raised its arms in the air and attempted to block the attack, but the instant it touched the weapon, the thin membrane encasing its body popped and every bone in its bone shattered.

A thunderous crash resounded through the desolate city and a violent wind blasted in two opposite directions, carrying with it a shower of venomous rain.
