Chapter 68: Episode 15 Trading

Lynch rubbed his still bloodshot eyes and got up from bed. The entire city of Hanmosidun had gradually quieted down. Only a gentle cold wind blew through the cave, and the faint candlelight inside houses was scattered like stars across the city.

Gray Dwarves naturally have Dark Vision, allowing them to clearly see outlines in the natural night. Only magic-induced darkness can obscure their sight. However, this means they can no longer see any colors, only black, white, and their combination, gray.

Without color, the lives of Gray Dwarves would become dull and tedious. They are warriors of the Underworld, yet at the same time, they are artists here. Deluo and Nimo brought two baskets of food and placed them on the table in the room, inviting the Mage to eat. Lynch smiled and sat down happily.

Deluo suddenly leaned close to the Mage’s ear and whispered, "Careful, I’ve noticed someone watching us."

Lynch said nothing, tearing a piece of bread and gently putting it in his mouth. At this moment, however, his eyes had already entered the Eye of Insight state. Through layers of floors and walls, Lynch quietly observed the surroundings of the "Red Mushroom" Inn. Two Gray Dwarves were peeking around the corner outside the inn at the window of Lynch’s room.

The Mage smiled slightly, "Don’t worry, it’s nothing. This was within our expectations."

"Really? You anticipated this too? You’re not lying to me, are you?" Deluo shook his head in disbelief. Yet, his hands and mouth didn’t stop; half a plate of roast meat had been stuffed into his belly in just a moment.

Nimo continued to smile contentedly, quietly eating his own portion.

"Either tomorrow or the day after, someone will come to us. They have no idea how much strength we possess, so they are very afraid we might be their enemies. In the Underdark, everyone has foes," Lynch said slowly. "The things we brought were lost on the way, but there’s still a long way to the Dark Elves’ Ratris City, and we definitely can’t go there empty-handed. So..."

"So having others come to us to solve problems earns us more money than if we find work ourselves, right?" Deluo sneered, "I would never make money that way."

"Hehe, you’re overthinking it. You must understand, the Underdark is not your homeland, where everything is about fair trade. Displaying strength is the most important leverage here; maintaining mystery is the only bargaining chip. I just want us to avoid losses."

"Alright, if you say so," Deluo mumbled with his mouth full of half a chicken leg.

Sure enough, the next day, five Gray Dwarves came to Lynch’s room. One dwarf, dressed in half-plate armor with a serious demeanor, appraised Lynch and his companions up and down, and then suddenly broke into a smile, "Hahaha, welcome, most dear guests. Welcome to Hanmosidun City: the Underworld’s Treasure Bead."

"May I ask who you are?" the Mage asked expressionlessly while sitting in a chair.

"Ah ha, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Koravos Sidton. I am one of the governors here. I frequently stroll around here. Yesterday, my neighbors told me that a few foreign guests had come to the Red Mushroom Inn. So, I came to check it out today."
