Chapter 55: Episode 9 Crystal Wall

Lynch began slowly explaining his discovery to Langda. After days of calculations, Lynch gradually deciphered the meanings of these Magic Runes.

"Over these days, I’ve slowly analyzed this blueprint. They are indeed used to construct a Transmission Array, but it’s not an ordinary Transmission Array; it’s a Crystal Wall Transmission Array."

"Crystal Wall? What’s that?" Langda asked in confusion.

"Elder, our Mages have discovered through research that this world is composed of multiple planes, and the place we live in is called the Main Material Plane. Outside this plane, there are Outer Planes where gods and demons reside; at the core of our plane are the Elemental Planes and the Positive and Negative Energy Planes. Through the Shadow Realm, Astral Plane, and Ether Plane connections, these planes can interact with each other. However, crossing planes is an extremely dangerous thing, a careless move can cost you your life. Additionally, there’s a principle: the more powerful a being is, the less likely it is to cross planes. This is why gods cannot descend in person."

"This barrier is known as the Crystal Wall," Lynch paused before continuing.

"So you’re saying that this device is actually meant to bring a god to this plane?" After contemplating for a moment, Langda’s face turned pale.

"It seems so. However, from what I’ve seen, the machine is still missing a few components. It cannot accurately target anything. But my concern is not the familiar creatures from the Outer Planes. In its current state, this Transmission Device has no effect on the gods and demons of the Outer Planes but can exert power over other worlds on the same Main Material Plane as ours."

"Isn’t the Main Material Plane just our world? Are there other worlds?"

"Yes, indeed there are other worlds. According to some notes left by Mages, when they were looking for the remains of a long-dead Magic God, they found other worlds. But those worlds are also surrounded by Crystal Walls. These Crystal Walls pose a massive barrier for both mortals and divine beings. They could not penetrate these Crystal Wall systems to see what lies beyond. While I’m not quite sure what conditions are needed to penetrate the Crystal Wall systems, given this device’s design intent and its current capabilities, piercing the Crystal Wall systems of the Main Material Plane is not impossible. Who knows what might exist in those worlds?"

Langda touched his chin, thoughtfully pondering, then looked up at Lynch with concern: "We’ve conducted about 30 experiments over the past ten years, and only 12 have successfully transmitted things over. Moreover, nothing dangerous has been transmitted, Lynch, isn’t your concern a bit excessive?"

"What worries me is those other 18 experiments. Suppose a Great Mage were present, I mean a Great Mage who could use Ancient Magic, they would know what was transmitted during those other 18 experiments. Because, in fact, those 18 experiments you deemed failures were actually successful. Once they penetrate the Crystal Wall system, they would be randomly discarded into a corner of this world."

"Elder, you know, long ago, Great Mages killed the Magic God to gain dominion over the Magic Network to increase their power. According to the few surviving historical records, they used a Magic Array to forcibly trap the Magic God’s essence in the Main Material Plane, and then took advantage of the moment when the Magic God left his domain and lost most of his power to kill him. I suspect this blueprint is the record of that Magic Array."

"This thing cannot remain in the world, let me burn it," Langda immediately said.

"We can’t burn it for now; it’s still useful. Elder, where did you find this blueprint?"

"When I was young, I once walked out of the Spider Cave out of playful curiosity and accidentally stumbled into the Underdark. I was enslaved there for 30 years. Had it not been for my gemstone crafting skills, I would have been dead long ago. When I escaped, I unwittingly found a towering structure, a nine-story spire shrouded in silver mist. To evade the Dark Elves’ pursuit, I hid inside the tower. It was there that I discovered this blueprint."
