Chapter 264: 2 episodes Lakeside_2

"Lynch! I finally made it out!" Zilvra threw herself into the mage’s arms, giving him a tight hug: "I finally made it out!" The female Drow had no other words to express her feelings. She released the mage and ran swiftly down the hill, collapsing onto the soft grass, limbs spread out. The natural scent of the earth washed over her soul, and the intoxicating fragrance of flowers enveloped her body. In this moment, Zilvra was utterly at ease.

Little Soka also flew down from the sky, gliding down onto the grass in imitation of Zilvra. However, the little one’s flying skills were not quite proficient yet; she left a trail on the ground before coming to a stop. Yet, many lovely little flowers—red, yellow, white—and green blades of grass were tangled in her golden hair and nestled in her pure white wings, making her seem like an elf from a sea of flowers.

Nimo, Deluo, Felps, and the two maidens also climbed to the hilltop. They were the companions who had departed from Dwarf City. After more than half a month’s journey, the sunlight finally embraced them, with pure air and free breathing being their greatest rewards.

Tears streamed down Zilvra’s cheeks, though she wasn’t sure if it was from excitement or her light-sensitive Drow heritage. Yet, she couldn’t get enough of the boundless blue sky and the slowly drifting white clouds. Although she couldn’t fly freely in the sky like Soka, Zilvra’s soul had already soared among the clouds, riding the wind, unrestrained.

"This feels so good!" Soka took a fruit from her pocket and began eating it while lying on the grass. Given her appetite, she had already eaten all the stored fruits on the journey. This last one was specially reserved to be eaten upon returning to the surface.

Smoke rose from Zilvra’s clothing, even from her chainmail. The dark elf’s items couldn’t endure the sunlight and would be destroyed upon reaching the surface. But these matters didn’t disturb Zilvra at all; she remained motionless, gazing at the azure sky, her eyes unwilling to leave for even a moment.

Lynch’s robe also began to change, with small holes appearing at the edges. The mage held a silver Light Sphere in his left hand, and the power of the Magic Origin washed away the original dark elf magic power. Although the robe lost its magical effects, it became suitable for wearing under the sunlight.

He walked over to Zilvra: "Your equipment is about to get damaged. Do you need me to help you?" The female Drow’s lips trembled slightly, but she said nothing. Her attention was wholly absorbed in the blue sky and white clouds, incapable of noticing anything else. Even though the brightness painfully stabbed her eyes, she was unwilling to give up a single glance of this sight.

Lynch placed his hand on Zilvra’s abdomen, with the softness of a dark elf’s temperature transmitted through his palm. The mage focused his mind, allowing no stray thoughts, and cautiously began the work of energy transmission and repair.

After a short while, he lifted his hand. Though Zilvra’s clothes were still a bit tattered, they would no longer turn to ashes under the sunlight and could last until the next town. Lynch looked at Zilvra’s reddened eyes and wiped away the tears from her cheeks with his fingers, saying, "Zilvra, don’t keep staring at the light. Your eyes can’t handle such a drastic change."

Of all these people, only Lynch’s Eye of Insight and Soka’s angel eyes could quickly adapt to the transition from the dark underground to the bright daylight. The others kept rubbing their eyes, unable to endure the stinging pain.

Zilvra only reacted slightly when the mage’s fingers touched her face. She shook her head, still keeping her eyes wide open. "Don’t worry about me, I’m fine right now. It’s wonderful."

Soka finished eating the fruit and carefully picked the flowers from her body, gathered them into a bunch, and placed them under Zilvra’s nose. The female Drow sneezed and finally sat up.

"Sister Zilvra, these are for you!" Soka handed the flowers to her and then flew back into the sky. But this time she hovered in midair, looking around, then pointed off into the distance and shouted, "Big brother in the black robe, there’s a big lake over there, let’s go take a look!"
