Chapter 252: Episode 92 Tail_2

Even after being relieved of invisibility, the mage still smiled as he faced the challenge. His lightning was suppressed mid-air, but the continuous flow of energy reinforced it tenaciously. At the moment the first priest was engulfed by the electricity and lost her life, Lynch saw an expression of utter astonishment in her eyes.

However, Lynch did not attack the remaining priestess. The Dark Elves’ priestesses were the absolute core of their team; if all the commanders were eliminated, they would undoubtedly retreat first and then engage in endless retaliations. By keeping one priestess alive, although it would create some difficulty in casting spells, it was crucial for annihilating this group of ambushers.

The Dark Elves would absolutely protect their priestesses desperately. These women have long taught the male warriors this lesson with whips and torture. And these proud priestesses would never easily admit defeat—especially when their opponent was just a human, just a male.

Lynch was exploiting this very fact. Knowing the exact location of all enemies and being able to understand their current actions at any time, the mage used simple obstacles to dodge the possible approaching crossbow arrows. Whenever a priest tried to scorch him with "Holy Fire," a lightning bolt would always fly over in time, interrupting his spell.

The biggest advantage the mage had over the priest was their range of spells. Through long-term research, the mage’s arcane was more practical compared to divine spells; they pursued the simplest ways to defeat their enemies. The most notable point was their area-effect spells; a simple fireball could suppress a considerable area, conveniently including the warriors around the priestess.

The Dark Elf assassins would have been wiped out by the exploding flames long ago if it weren’t for their innate spell resistance.

This group of Dark Elves was definitely well-prepared; each attacker had a pair of black glasses over their eyes to avoid sudden damage from strong light. The Drow’s natural fear of light was as infamous as their ferocity, and any enemy of the Dark Elves would try their best to exploit this aspect.

Hence, Lynch didn’t expect the light-generating spells to have much effect; he relied more on the attack magic from the Powerful Wand. Utilizing the magic origin to continually replenish the wand’s energy while avoiding personal depletion made Lynch stronger than even dragons who use magic instinctively.

Half of Lynch’s spells worked on the Drow, but the continuous attacks of flame lightning and strong acid kept coming. Although the retaliating crossbow arrows were dangerous and their poison would be fatal upon contact with a wound, with the aid of illusions and obstacles, Lynch remained unscathed until now.

The last warrior was knocked over by an explosion; his spell resistance could not withstand the heavy blow formed by the air currents. Lynch approached the female Drow priestess, still holding a lightning bolt in his hand.

"Male! You despicable worm! The Spider Goddess will remember what you’ve done today; she will prepare a feast for you in hell! You will be tormented for life; we will never let you go!"

Lynch could erase the existence of this priestess with just a wave of his hand. His eyes swept over the Dark Elf in front of him and saw the family emblem hidden under her chain mail.

"Go back and tell Briza that an army of Snake-men is eyeing the entire Ratris City," Lynch weighed the pros and cons, "If she wants to stay on the seat of the First Matron for long, she should consider this information of mine."

With a flick of his hand, a massive crater was blasted on the square’s ground by lightning, and the hard bedrock underneath turned as soft as mud against this power. Pointing at the crater, Lynch continued, "If you Dark Elves still want to find trouble with me or those around me, I don’t mind another trip to the Underdark to show you my power. Tell Briza that I already don’t have a good impression of the Drow, so don’t force me to stand against her."

"In addition," the mage finally said, "Batana died under my spells; I don’t mind being the first to kill two First Matrons. Now, Drow, get lost!"

By the time Deluo and others gathered around, only Lynch and the corpses of those Dark Elves remained; the battle was clearly over. The city defense troops of Gray Dwarves were also quickly rushing to the scene, and the sound of their synchronized footsteps could be heard clearly from afar.

Lynch slowly walked towards his companions, "If you don’t disappear quickly, you’ll be taken as the culprits by those Gray Dwarves." After speaking, Lynch became invisible again, disappearing from their sight.

"This guy!" Deluo grumbled displeasedly, "Being a mage is convenient! Dodging responsibility faster than anyone." After saying that, he had already run far away.

Lynch remained invisible but didn’t leave; he stayed at the scene. After the Gray Dwarves arrived, they looked at the Dark Elf corpses lying on the ground in astonishment, momentarily at a loss. A few soldiers hurriedly ran off, presumably to find their master.

Lynch stood in place for a long time before heading towards the direction of the Red Mushroom Tavern. He was waiting all along to see if there were any other Dark Elves in the city. If there were more attackers, others would inevitably come to the scene to learn some experience and succeed in the next attack. However, until the scene was cleaned up by the Gray Dwarves, the anticipated Drow did not appear.

"Hanmosidun City is the last location the Dark Elves could possibly track; after here, there are too many paths to choose from ahead." Lynch thought happily, "If exchanging intelligence could make the Dark Elves give up pursuit, it would be a fair trade."

However, the closer the mage got to the surface, the more nervous he became, fearing that a single misstep would lead to complete failure. His mind was constantly racing, calculating all possible scenarios, treating even the smallest incident as a potential danger and hidden risk.

Zilvra stood by the room window on the second floor of the Red Mushroom Tavern, looking at the night of Hanmosidun City with Soka. Ever since leaving the Dark Elves behind, Zilvra seemed to have been reborn, regaining interest in everything. She now spoke more in a day than she used to in a week.

Lynch looked at the tavern and the woman waiting at the window, always feeling that this scene was familiar, buried somewhere in his memory.

"Calm down, mage!" Lynch warned himself, "Getting too excited will affect your judgment!"

But actually, isn’t this repeated self-admonition also a sign of over-excitement?
