Chapter 243: Episode 88 Change_2
"No! I don’t believe you! I can’t even trust an elf, let alone you! You must use some vile magic to torture me! I know it!" She took two steps back, just bumping into Batana’s corpse. Zarra looked in horror at the Drow body lying in front of her, as if she couldn’t believe her eyes.
"Ba...Batana? You’ve finally died! But how is this possible?" Zarra retreated in terror, her eight black spider legs tangling with each other, causing her to fall heavily to the ground. "No! This is a trap! I understand now, Regula, this is a trap set by you and Lynch. First Batana, and I’m next! I know, even Zilvra is in your hands, you want to become the leaders of the First Family! You... you want to turn me into a puppet, a puppet that only listens to your commands! Then you can become the masters of this city! You..." Zarra pointed at Lynch, "You wish to control the Dark Elves, just like the Great Mage who died in the Black Crystal Tower. No! I won’t believe you."
"I have no such plan," Lynch said. "As for Ratris City, I have nothing left to long for."
"A mage who could kill the First Matron wouldn’t want power? No! I don’t believe you!"
After saying that, Zarra got up trying to escape. The Martial Monk dashed forward, quickly striking her back with his palm. Zarra’s movements immediately stiffened, and she fell motionless to the ground.
"She’s been stunned now, Mage, you can proceed," Regula said, "I’m right behind you."
Lynch slowly walked towards Zarra, puzzled, he asked, "Monk, why did you do this? Is it worth it?"
"I don’t know." The Martial Monk shrugged, "I’m just a homeless wanderer, a practitioner. Unlike you mages who always ponder whether something is worth doing. I just feel happy doing it, and that’s enough."
"Then you and I have some things in common after all." Lynch began to channel powerful energy into breaking the curse on Zarra. If the spell was cast by the First Matron Batana, then with the caster’s death, Lynch thought he might be able to force it to unravel. Otherwise, the only option is to transform her.
The process was painful, with every inch of the Spider Elf’s skin trembling violently, her mouth wide open, eyes filled with despair. Even in a stunned state, Zarra was tormented to the edge of death by the pain. Soon, her spider-form body began to crack, with yellow-green pus oozing from the wounds. Zarra’s arms flailed wildly, wanting to scream out the agony, but her throat was too sore to make any sound.
The Martial Monk stood behind Lynch, raising his palm a few times but hesitated and put it down.
The mage stood up, clapped his hands, "Alright, it’s all done." He pointed to Zarra and said to the Martial Monk, "She’s extremely weak now, but she’ll recover soon."
The Martial Monk didn’t go over to check the Dark Elf, he just stared at Lynch silently. Regula sized up this human from head to toe, embedding his appearance firmly in her mind.
"Mage, we will meet again." The Martial Monk finally showed a happy smile, at that moment, it seemed as if all burdens were lifted from his shoulders, "Though I don’t know when, we will meet again."
After speaking, he went over and carried Zarra out of the puddle of viscous liquid. The Dark Elf, having just undergone a drastic transformation, was now unconscious, but the part of her that was once a spider had returned to two slender legs. The Martial Monk wrapped her naked body in his robe and walked into the night, never looking back.
The Flash Gold Stone on the Black Crystal Tower changed color as Lynch looked up at the only bright spot in all of Ratris City and closed his eyes. "Only two days left."
In the First Family’s residence, Matron Briza lay collapsed on the ground, exhausted and sweating heavily.
It wasn’t due to pain but the intense pleasure of success draining her energy. After long planning, the ancient First Family had finally crumbled before her, and she had become the youngest First Matron in Terries City’s history.
The pain of losing a right hand was nothing now, and if given the choice again, she wouldn’t hesitate to lose a whole arm for this victory. The joy recently bestowed upon her by the Spider Goddess already foretold Batana’s fate—she was dead.
"Your soul will be tormented in the Abyss!" Briza thought with happy laughter about the "former" First Matron. Her weakened lungs caused a sharp pain as she laughed, causing her to sit up.
"There are still a few more to be eliminated, Zilvra, though a traitor, she remains a noble of the First Family. Or rather, the former First Family. That Martial Arts Master Regula must also be eradicated, I don’t need a human teaching Dark Elves to fight. As for that mage, he’s quite a powerful fellow..."
She sneered, "But since Zilvra is doomed to die, you surely won’t work for me. Then your fate has only one possibility, disappear as well!"
She strolled out of the audience hall, which needed some renovation, but it would undoubtedly become the place she visited most frequently in the future. Looking at the battlefield outside, her subordinates were already cleaning up the spoils. Except for the loss of those priests killed by Batana, the Second Family was almost victorious.
"Three days is more than enough to completely take over this old family, I don’t want to be like you, Batana, I have a powerful group of priests," Briza thought as she walked, "Lynch, though it’s a pity, you only have such a short time left to live."
A few priests approached wanting to heal Briza’s wound, but all were scared off by the look in the matron’s eyes. Briza was very pleased with this effect. She had offered her hand to the Spider Goddess, how could it be healed carelessly?
The Dark Elves on both sides of the corridor prostrated themselves, saluting the new First Matron of Terries City.

Finally, I have finished building the foundation for the first Chapter, phew... I feel like I’ve become a bit dark, though I’m just suntanned...
