Chapter 233: Episode 85 Chain Reactions
Upon hearing the voice, Zilvra’s heart was immediately filled with questions, especially the phrase "The matron summons you," which left her deeply puzzled. Normally, if the matron wanted to summon her, especially to gather in the Audience Hall, a simple communication through the Family Emblem would suffice. There was no need to send another person to call her. Moreover, the caller was a female, and apart from herself, all the other female Drow were Priests and should be busy around Batana now. How could they have the time to call her?
Thinking of this, Zilvra responded simply, "Wait outside!" and then picked up her weapon. Ordinarily, her armor was never taken off, except during the period when she wore only a Priest’s robe while studying in the Spider temple. Zilvra used the Floating Technique to hang upside down from the ceiling, approaching the door of the room. She remained vigilant, constantly attentive to any movement on the other side of the door, then used her thin sword to pick the lock on the door.
The door burst open suddenly, and four Dark Elves stormed into the room, their murderous intent filling the space. "Traitor Zilvra, surrender at once and seek the forgiveness of the Spider Goddess!" they shouted.
Of course, Zilvra was not going to surrender so easily. She held her breath, hiding in the shadows at the top of the room and the corner of the wall, making not a sound. Although a surprise attack now might easily deal with the four in front of her, she could not be sure there weren’t any ambushed enemies waiting. If it turned out that this was a clan-wide kill order, what she needed most now was to hide and conserve her strength, not recklessly fight these assassins to the death.
The Dark Elves who entered the room dared not spread out, fearing being picked off by Zilvra alone. They moved cautiously around the room, backs against each other, their eight eyes alertly watching their surroundings.
Zilvra slowly floated towards the door, keeping her body within the shadows as much as possible to conceal herself. As long as she could fly outside without being discovered, Zilvra was confident she could escape from the clan’s residence—these female priestesses were from a second clan and, given only two or three days, couldn’t possibly be fully familiar with the structure of the first clan’s building. Meanwhile, Zilvra knew this prison like the back of her hand.
Inch by inch, the female Drow got closer to the exit, but just then, a figure silently slipped inside. Martial Monk Regula’s steps were always silent, so quiet that even the fully focused Zilvra hadn’t noticed.
"What are the four of you doing?" Regula asked, looking at the several Priests forming a defensive formation. "This is the room of the first daughter, Zilvra. Breaking in so openly, are you trying to harm her?"
"So it’s the Martial Arts Master!" Generally, in terms of status, Dark Elf females are far superior to all males. However, these four had not been with the first clan long and hadn’t gained the full trust of the matron. At this time, Regula, as the Martial Arts Master, had the authority to reprimand them. After all, the Martial Monk himself was responsible for the defense of the entire castle. The four Dark Elves could only look dutiful and respectful.
"The matron’s order is to kill the family traitor Zilvra and uphold the honor and security of the first clan!" the female Priest replied.
The Martial Monk became alert too. His ears were more acute than ordinary Dark Elves, and while focusing, he quickly heard a faint breathing sound on the ceiling. He reflexively turned his head and just happened to spot Zilvra floating within the shadows.
The four Priests followed the Martial Arts Master’s gaze and discovered the target blending into the darkness. They let out a low growl, dissatisfied with having been fooled by a Drow female warrior, and three of them pounced fiercely, while the other began chanting a spell, ready to release magic at any time.
Zilvra snorted angrily, dropping down from the ceiling. In the current situation, she had to deal with the enemies before her first if she hoped to continue her escape. Especially the one using the spell, Zilvra didn’t know which spell they were preparing, but it was definitely not something that would aid her escape.
