Chapter 191: Episode 69 Day 10_2
"Hahahaha..." The mage finally couldn’t hold back. His brows relaxed, and he laughed heartily while clutching his belly. His shoulders shook rapidly, and he finally stopped when the laughter caused him abdominal pain due to his weakness.
"Deluo, Nimo, do you really see me as such a lecher?" Lynch asked with a smile.
"Of course not," Deluo replied. "I just wanted to remind you of what is the most important thing right now. There are too many distractions."
Lynch’s smile suddenly froze. He recalled his original purpose for coming here. The Prophetic God Staff was just a means; finding the little finger stuck in the Underdark was his goal. Compared to Felps, other things — like searching for arcane scrolls — were trivial. Right now, he was just a mage, a lone force, relying on maintaining a mysterious aura and the title of First Family Consultant to move freely in this city. One careless mistake, and not only would he be implicated, but these companions around him would also be affected. As for others, he wasn’t sure, but the First Family Matriarch alone, who could summon the might of the Spider Goddess, could ensnare the mage’s friends in one swoop.
Originally, life in Ratris City was like walking on a tightrope, yet the mage was still adding more burdens onto himself.
"Okay, thanks for the reminder. After recovering my magic abilities, I got a bit carried away." The mage walked over to Deluo and patted his shoulder. "I won’t say anything else; in ten days, we will definitely leave this dark city!"
"You also need to be careful, don’t lose your calm and ability to think due to haste," Deluo said.
"Nimo," Lynch turned to the Little Dwarf, "do you think Deluo would make a good mage? I feel like he’s even more composed than I am."
Nimo covered his mouth, chuckling. Deluo shot Lynch a look, pouting with a "hmph."
"Deluo, what are you planning to do in these ten days?"
"Not much. Probably packing some things. After all, once we leave this city, we can’t return to the surface immediately." Deluo spread his hands. "We need to prepare food and maps and the like. What do you plan to do with the little girl? And these two women? Are you going to leave them here?"
"That little girl is the little angel we’ve been looking for. Keeping her by my side is too dangerous, so I’ll have to entrust her to you to look after. As for those two women, I’ll leave them to you as well. You did say they were quite pretty." Lynch picked up his Magic Wand, pretending not to see Deluo’s excitedly raised eyebrows. "Time is pressing, I need to find a way to break that Magic Array."
"Ten days is not long, but it will pass quickly," Deluo said meaningfully, looking at the mage.
However, Lynch and the others first needed to find that adventure team next door. Their room was just two corridors away from where the mage was. After knocking, Deluo walked straight in.
But besides the few people they met last time, there were two others in the room. What gave the mage a headache was that both of these new people were Dark Elves, one male and one female.
"Who are you! How dare you trespass in here?" A male Dark Elf turned around and saw the entering Human Mage.
Lynch revealed his family badge while observing the room. The adventurers all held weapons in hand, and the little girl hid behind a Half-Beastman barbarian warrior, her wide, terrified eyes watching the two opposite her.
"Which family are you two from? Where is your emblem?" Lynch hung his badge back on himself, standing in front of the warrior.
"Human! This is none of your business! Don’t think that just because you’re a consultant for the First Family, you can meddle in Dark Elf affairs. This is Ratris City, the Drow City!" The male elf drew a scimitar.
"Shut up, male! This isn’t a place for you to speak!" The female Drow rebuked her companion, then turned to face the mage. "Consultant of the First Family, we have no intention of starting a dispute. But we are here to take back what’s ours."
"What is it you want to take back?" Deluo drew the Double-headed Sword from his back and rolled his eyes at the female Drow. "Think carefully before you declare what you want."
"Hmph! Ignorant thing! Threaten us? Do you think you can escape the wrath of the Dark Elves?" said the female Drow, pointing at Deluo.
"No, we can’t escape the wrath," Lynch tightened his grip on a scroll inside his left sleeve, "but we can contain the wrath within this room, so no one else will know."
"What?" The female Drow gasped, immediately realizing their predicament. Facing the near ten individuals surrounding them — including a mage from the First Family — escape was the only option. Almost as soon as the word "What?" left her lips, a wave of darkness suddenly enveloped the room.
"Quick Spell Ability!" Lynch’s lips curled up slightly. He had long known that some Drow could cast spells instantly, without any incantation or gestures. Facing such an enemy, unless prepared, one could lose the initiative in an instant.
This is where the mage’s scroll came into play. Lynch flicked his hand, and the scroll slipped down from his sleeve. As soon as the words were revealed, they transformed into magical energy. The room was immediately illuminated like daylight, dispelling the darkness without a trace.
The two Dark Elves didn’t expect to be countered by light so quickly, not even getting a chance to close their eyes. Near the window, both of them screamed in agony.
Deluo and the Half-Beastman barbarian Mep charged forward simultaneously. Before the others could react, a Double-headed Sword and a huge curved blade cleaved the frail bodies of the Dark Elves in two.
The two looked at each other, then both added another slash to their opponents, bursting into laughter together.
"You are really strong and have a temper much like mine!" Deluo excitedly patted the Half-Beastman’s shoulder. "We both thought the same thing just now, even striking at the same time. Were we cast from the same mold?"
"What’s a mold?" the Half-Beastman paused his laughter, asking in confusion.
