Chapter 169: Episode 60 Deal_2
Lynch drifted out of the Dark Elf’s castle, and was met by a Drow Warrior. He had been dispatched by the matron to deliver a message to the mages at the Black Crystal Tower.
The Dark Elf Warrior walked quietly in front of the mage, leading the way for him. This dark-skinned fellow said nothing, just walked silently forward. Lynch was glad for the silence, as he was now trying hard to recall the knowledge about magic traps and various formidable magic barriers he had learned from the Earth Surface Mage Association. These things might appear in the Black Crystal Tower, blocking the path between Lynch and the Prophetic God Staff.
The Black Crystal Tower now stood before the mage, and Lynch felt the tower, which showcased the achievements of Drow spells, was so close to him. The Dark Elf Warrior went forward to greet or rather to prevent the outsider mage. He presented an emblem that should indicate "matron-approved." Lynch used his clairvoyant eye to memorize the emblem’s appearance and then dismissed the Drow who had completed his task.
"Hello, Adviser Mage Lynch, welcome to this black tower. No need to be so reserved, although here, except for you, everyone else is a Dark Elf, we are not as ferocious and cruel as the elves outside. We are all fully civilized mages, aren’t we?"
Lynch looked at the mage in front of him, who looked to be about forty years old, which in Dark Elf terms was just newly adult—a child. However, he was already able to perform some simple spells; the flight spell he used upon appearing was very skillful. Lynch never judged by appearance. Since this young Drow was chosen as the first obstacle to newcomers at the Black Crystal Tower, it already reflected his strength to a certain extent. Lynch looked at this inexperienced child, trying to discern any mark of disguise on his face.
"That skin is real; it seems he truly is a child." Lynch shook his head and completely blocked out the mage guide’s chatter, "It seems there are still many geniuses in the world."
But before they entered the gates of the Black Crystal Tower, a voice came from behind its walls: "Mage, I have something to say!"
Regula easily flipped over the wall and stood next to Lynch, "Mage, I have something important."
"Hmph!" Lynch indeed had not forgotten the time he was struck by the Martial Monk’s palm, and Regula’s perpetually stern face gave him no clue about his thoughts from his actions or expressions. "What is it you have to say here?"
"Alright, Adviser Mage, let the past blow away with the wind, no need to be too calculative." The Martial Monk looked at Lynch’s face and said, "Why should we fight each other to death and let others have a laugh at us?"
"Regula, I don’t have time to waste on you now. If you came today for reconciliation, then you may leave now."
"No, Mage, I came to ask you a few things." Regula nodded to the young mage guide, who obediently moved a distance away, creating a relatively private space for their conversation.
"Mage, I am also someone from the Earth’s surface, this can be seen from my appearance, right?" The Martial Monk tried hard to flex his facial muscles into a smile. But Lynch thought that Regula’s face was now the best explanation and example of ’grotesque,’ even less appealing than when he maintained his cold, iron visage. "I am a resident of Haisas—um, Haisas, how long has it been since this pronunciation last came out of my mouth?"
"Congratulations then, you are now thousands of miles away from your hometown." Lynch looked at the Martial Monk, "Former Haisas fellow, you might want to hurry and state your purpose. Even as a mage, sometimes my patience runs thin, whereas my temper does not."
"Mage, do you know of the Spiderized Elves?"
"Of course I know, this common knowledge should not require you to ask me."
"Then Mage, can you reverse this process? I mean, turn the Spiderized Elf back to their original form." The Martial Monk’s voice choked a bit as he rubbed his hands briskly, his eyes fixed on the mage’s face with a look of desperate anticipation.
"I don’t know, I have never actually seen a Spiderized Dark Elf, and I have not done any in-depth research on rites accomplished through Divine Power."
"Mage sir, I hope you can find some way to resolve the issue of the Spiderized Dark Elves."
Lynch looked at Regula in front of him, the Martial Monk was now trying his best to put on the kindest smile. The mage thought for a moment and then looked up at the black tower adorned with Flash Gold Stone beside him. His mind had already flown into the tower and he didn’t want to get entangled with the Martial Monk any longer.
"Alright, I’ll try to look into it, but it may not yield the results you want."
"Thank you, Mage." Regula clasped his hands together, closed his eyes, and bowed slightly in the mage’s direction as a farewell, a gesture rarely used in the Underdark world.
Regula turned and left, and that young Drow followed. He walked to the entrance of the Black Crystal Tower and chanted a spell. The once empty wall suddenly revealed the door to the Black Crystal Tower, but from the outside, no part of the tower’s interior could be observed. Once inside this gate, with Lynch’s research speed, the Drow spells would soon no longer be their exclusive secret.
