Chapter 161: 56 episodes Meeting_2

The Half-Beastman crouched down, his ugly face full of a loving expression. A rough, big hand patted Soka’s head, biting his lips tightly, always wanting to say something but unable to speak.

"Can you guarantee her safety? You’re surrounded by Dark Elves!" The Halfling walked up to Lynch. "When we found this little one, she was about to be sent to the Dark Elves as a sacrificial offering!"

"No, I can’t take her away now, the passage is full of Dark Elves." Lynch looked at the people in front of him, "So, she still has to stay with you for now. We’ll see about it when we get back to the Dark Elf City."

The Half-Beastman suddenly lifted his head upon hearing this news, his eyes filled with joy, yet still carrying a hint of the earlier sadness. Little Soka turned around, "Can I stay with them for a little while longer?"

"Yes, the situation outside is not safe at all." Lynch looked at the closed room, which had nothing besides a few broken boxes on the ground. "How did you come to this room?"

"Like this," said the Halfling, "we found related records of entering this temple to see if there were any treasures. According to the hints, we activated a Teleportation Array and got here. Although we found some things, we discovered that the Teleportation Array suddenly stopped working, and we couldn’t get out. If it weren’t for you opening another passage, we might have suffocated to death here."

"The Teleportation Array isn’t working? Is it one-way?" Lynch asked, puzzled. "Could this be a trap?"

"We don’t understand either; you take a look." Halfling William took a Crystal Stone from his pouch and handed it to the Mage.

Lynch looked at the Teleportation Array on the Crystal Stone, which was somewhat similar to the one Batana used in the first family’s basement. William told the Mage how to use the Array, but no matter how hard Lynch tried, the teleportation Crystal remained unresponsive.

"Let’s not discuss this now; you can’t go out, or the Dark Elves will find you." The Mage put the Crystal into his sleeve pocket and glanced at the passage behind him. "I’ll seal this passage again, of course, only with a thin layer so it won’t be visible from the outside. Wait until the Dark Elves leave, then escape safely. Be careful."

Lynch glanced at little Soka again, who was now giggling happily while riding on the Half-Beastman’s shoulder. The Mage said, "Take care of her for now. When we get back to the inn, I’ll see if I can make something to change her appearance; otherwise, it’s too dangerous. That’s it, I have to leave quickly, or they might notice something."

As Lynch turned to walk out of the passage, he suddenly looked back: "The Tracking Magic Array does exist; I’ll try to solve it. You’d better not leave the city easily; it’s very dangerous if discovered..."

The Priest, who had been silent with a tense face, called out to Lynch and took two books from his backpack: "Take them, they’re useful!"

Lynch took the books, waved a goodbye to the small group, and turned to leave. Outside the Obsidian passage, he used methods from the "Creation Law" to change the shape of the Obsidian, sealing the opening with an inch-thick stone wall. With a simple touch-up, at least the Mage saw no flaws, and he returned to the group of Dark Elves.

The first family’s zombie-making operation was nearing its end, utilizing all usable corpses. Batana led a large group on the way back. As Lynch watched the group of marching corpses behind him, he felt a bit creepy, but the other Dark Elves showed no surprise. Not only the priests who made the soul-bound corpses, but even the warriors didn’t show the slightest discomfort with the presence of these corpses. The Dark Elves truly were a cold-blooded race. These bodies, turned into zombies, had stood alongside them in battle not long ago, yet none of the Dark Elves expressed anything. Moreover, these zombies just had bad luck and couldn’t be revived. Essentially, there was no difference in status from those walking Drow.

And no Drow sighed at their luck in escaping death. They accepted death, being turned into zombies after death, as an acceptable fate. From childhood, their minds were instilled with the idea that "things must be put to use, and useless waste has no value," though this phrase had different meanings in Dark Elf Language than in other tongues.

Hence, they did not fear death, only being useless.

Leaving the temple and returning to the surface, Lynch was surprised to find some underground mercenaries gathering together. They were left by the matron to guard the living area but had now all run outside.

Batana looked at the Ogres and Trolls, whose hair and shoulders were covered with dust. The matron understood that the explosion from fighting the Witch Demon had caused the whole underground temple to shake. These guys probably fled out of fear of being buried alive.

However, they still violated the matron’s orders. Batana lightly said, "Kill!" sealing the mercenaries’ fate.

The elite troops of the Dark Elves encountered the underground mercenaries, and there was no suspense in this battle. The Drow swept through the rabble like cutting vegetables. Many mercenaries died before they could even draw their weapons.

Lynch was not surprised by the matron’s decision, but he still hadn’t found the female leader of the mercenaries. During the battle with the Witch Demon, she did not appear, nor was she seen outside the cave. She might have already left or hidden.

"Maybe she’s still alive," Lynch thought to himself. "I wonder if the underground mercenary group has the guts to cause trouble for the first family at this time. That woman certainly knew the remaining strength of the Bernie family, and that piece of intelligence alone could throw Ratris City into chaos. Right! Even if she doesn’t say, I might spread the word at the right time to make it hard for Batana to handle."

As Lynch pondered, he walked over the slippery ground with Zilvra by his side. The female Drow’s expression was serious, but occasionally, she would involuntarily show a faint smile.

Zarra followed behind the matron with her head down, without speaking a word. Anyone who paid close attention to her could see that this high-ranking priest of the first family was trembling.

Ratris City was about to welcome the first family’s return, a weakened family yet favored by the goddess.
