Chapter 159: 55 episodes Temple (Final)_2

She softly chanted a spell, and a cloud of white mist drifted from her hand towards the fallen Dark Elves. This white mist caused the matron to howl in pain, as if experiencing the agony of childbirth, draining the strength of the Drow completely. If Batana hadn’t still been engulfed in the lingering aftermath of extreme pleasure, she would have long died from this bone-deep pain.

Yet, despite such torment, the matrons of the Dark Elves were still eager to fulfill the Spider Goddess’s instructions, as if addicted, unable to quit, escape, or forget, never satisfied.

The elite forces of the Dark Elves were shrouded by the white mist, and under the Spider Goddess’s command, their souls slowly walked back from the Death World. In just a short while, the core forces of the first family could recover—although they needed a considerable time to convalesce fully, as long as the core remained, no other family would dare to plot against House of Bani. Batana had that confidence.

However, she noticed something peculiar, that a part of the white mist automatically drifted towards the unconscious mage, slowly creeping up and covering him. This greatly surprised the matron, as this white mist only obeyed the Spider Goddess’s command—did the Goddess want this mage to live?

In fact, this was primarily because Lynch’s left hand began to work. Stimulated earlier by the Witch Demon, the refined gold arm sensed a tremendous threat, forcibly activating its internal magic array to protect its master and avoid its own destruction. Although it seized a huge amount of magic energy from Lynch, it also needed more power to fully recover. The divine arts used by the matron just now were the best choice. The "left hand" absorbed the white mist while healing its master.

Batana finally regained her composure. She looked at those Dark Elves who were not covered by the white mist, somewhat unable to comprehend the arrangements of the Spider Goddess. Could it be that her goddess preferred to abandon her people, not resurrecting those underground nobility with dark skin and white hair, instead of spending power healing this surface human? Were those dead warriors less important than this lowly male?

Batana had a belly full of questions, but she dared not ask the Spider Goddess right now. The recent reward indicated that the Spider Goddess was already very satisfied with the completion of this task and would bless the first family. Asking questions now might displease the Goddess, causing counterproductive results.

She could only temporarily accept this fact, allowing the human mage to live a bit longer.

Zilvra was the first to wake up. After the Witch Demon disappeared, not a trace of the spell’s effect remained. She had not suffered physical injury, so she woke up quickly. Zilvra stood before the matron, recounting in detail what just happened, explaining how the Witch Demon was defeated. However, Zilvra was not a mage and did not understand all the detailed processes. But the phrase "the adviser mage’s spell caused an explosion, making the Witch Demon unable to resist the matron’s divine arts, thus falling" was very much to Batana’s liking. She remained expressionless, but secretly she was smug. As an opponent, the Witch Demon was indeed formidable enough.

While the two female Drow were talking, Lynch also woke up. He wobbled to his feet, moved his limbs, looking somewhat bewildered.

The matron silently cursed in her heart: "If it weren’t for the Spider Goddess’s favor, you’d be a corpse by now!"

Zilvra did not mention Zarra’s attempt to murder the matron, but Zarra’s astonished expression when regaining her strength aroused the matron’s suspicion. Seeing the bluish mark on her forehead at a glance, resembling a familiar shape, the matron immediately thought of Zilvra’s sword. Something surely happened between her two daughters.

But the current task was not about the civil war among the children, but to take the remaining family forces back to the fortress in Ratris City quickly and quietly, to rest and recover as soon as possible. Fortunately, not a single family priestess was lost, but two Dark Elf Mages died, and half of the elite core warriors turned into corpses, only able to be resurrected as undead. Most of the lower-tier soldiers were nearly wiped out, and all mercenaries were annihilated, saving them a sum of commission instead.

Lynch watched the Dark Elves before him, each rising from their state of becoming corpses, soon regaining vitality. He had only read bits and pieces about such things in some ancient texts, said to be a powerful mass resurrection that could only be used by directly leveraging a god’s power. Yet, since Batana could directly harness the Abyss Hell’s power, resurrecting a large number of Dark Elves with divine power was not impossible. But Lynch couldn’t understand how he himself had recovered in such a short time. Furthermore, his left hand had undergone some changes, and what exactly did these changes bring? Among all the bizarre occurrences, the most perplexing for Lynch was how he suddenly recited two unknown languages out loud.

It seems he should organize his thoughts well.

The mage estimated the losses of the Dark Elf family this time, suggesting it would be difficult for them to recover in a while. Of course, solely with Batana matron’s own power and all the surviving priests, this force couldn’t be ignored by other families. However, the acute shortage of warriors would leave the family strained for actions, making expansions tough. Despite the doubts Batana developed about mages’ powers during this mission, in the current environment, powerful mages were invaluable support. Lynch’s adviser position would become more solid, and even the matron had to grant him more authority.

The magic scrolls in the Black Crystal Tower would be a great reward.

The Dark Elves’ priests began diligently crafting live zombies from warriors who weren’t resurrected. These live zombies, also known as soul-bound corpses, retained some pre-death abilities but became emotionless, fearless of injury, and no longer afraid. If used properly, they were considerable force. However, they became unintelligent, merely executing orders mechanically, unsuitable for complex tasks.

Lynch had no interest in watching such evil rituals, only the Drow of the Underdark would use such means to produce undead without hesitation. Seeing the matron’s gaze, he obediently left—those eyes clearly saying: "Confidential techniques, no peeking allowed."

He walked around the Witch Demon’s cave, always wondering where that pioneering party had gone. Clearly seeing their footprints entering, yet unable to find any trace afterward. Lynch used the Eye of Insight, scanning as far as he could in all directions, hoping to see through the thick rock walls.

Despite the previous battle, the mage, who should be exhausted, instead felt invigorated, his mind clear, and easily able to focus his gaze, with the Eye of Insight seeing farther than usual. Just beyond an obsidian-paved wall, about 30 meters from Lynch’s passage, a solitary small room was embedded in the stone. There was no way in or out of that room. Yet, Lynch saw, that adventuring team was in that room, anxiously pounding on the walls with their hands.

"Wall Penetration Skill!" Lynch swung the magic wand, opening a hole in the obsidian wall, and stepped down through it...
