Chapter 157: Episode 54 Temple (7)_3

Looking at the lich before her, a wave of rage surged from the depths of her heart, an anger so intense it wasn’t just from the loss her family suffered—those could be swiftly compensated; nor from the fact she had been knocked out—ultimate victory would still be Batana’s; it wasn’t even the threat from being surpassed repeatedly by that lowly human mage—the mage’s situation was far worse now; once she dealt with the lich, he would be next! This fury ignited the moment she saw Zilvra fall before her, and it burned fiercely.

If there were a hell of flames, then the matron’s rage would be it.

Batana couldn’t explain this feeling; she didn’t understand why she was so furious. For the first time, she forgot the Spider Goddess’s command and decided the lich’s fate purely on this rage.

Black flames formed in her hands, a spell gifted to her by the Spider Goddess after becoming matron. This black fire from the Abyss, with its utterly blasphemous power, would destroy the lich before her. Even if it could still connect to the world of the dead and draw power, this black flame would follow it relentlessly, obliterating it repeatedly, without end.

The lich completely gave up its control over Zilvra and raised its finger at the matron while chanting a spell. Lynch struggled to focus, careful not to faint at this crucial moment. Using the solid knowledge he gained from the Mage Association, he recognized it as a ray magic with instant death effects.

It might be Death Finger. Back in the days of Moon Harbor City, he was at the level where he could simultaneously use a Death Finger to cancel out two identical spells. But now, although he could harness the powerful force of the Magic Origin, his depth of understanding was not what it used to be. Lynch couldn’t counteract this spell.

But did the mage have no options? He employed techniques from "Creation Law" to erect a crystal wall in front of the lich. The sharply cut and polished surfaces of the crystal wall reflected images from all directions, seriously disrupting observation between both sides of the wall. To the lich, countless images of Matron Batana suddenly appeared, from different angles and sizes, from various directions, plunging it into confusion, unsure which to target. The ray in its hand hesitated to fire.

Batana’s flames suddenly rose from the ground at the lich’s feet, covering a radius of three meters. The black flames needed no aim; they automatically clung to the lich’s skeleton, freely unleashing their power.

Though the flames had no heat, their immense destructive power was undeniable. The lich’s wails echoed from the flames, a lament not merely a single tone. It sounded like the death cries of everyone the lich had killed, erupting simultaneously, with those souls finally venting their grievances. Soon enough, the lich’s voice was swallowed by the flames, and it fell silent.

Unable to sustain himself any longer, Lynch’s spell crumbled to shards, scattering on the ground. The mage closed his eyes, collapsing unconscious in the cave.

A burst of red light erupted from Matron Batana’s body, healing her wounds instantly. Now, she had pretty much regained her strength.
