Chapter 152: Episode 53 Temple (6)
"Thank you!" said the Witch Demon.
Lynch instinctively felt that something bad was about to happen. The Witch Demon, facing the full-force attack from Matron Batana, did not show a trace of panic; instead, there was some smugness. It seemed as though it had already prepared for this situation, or rather, it had been waiting for this very attack.
No matter what the Witch Demon was planning, it would never be on the same side as Lynch. Although this Witch Demon had taken down a significant number of Dark Elves, greatly weakening the power of the First Family, in Lynch’s eyes, it was still the most dangerous enemy.
Without much thought, Lynch swung the Powerful Wand, and a bolt of lightning shot towards the Witch Demon’s shoulder.
The sudden bright light startled the Witch Demon. It then noticed the human mage standing behind the gasping matron. Judging from the movements he made while casting the spell, he could barely be considered a skilled spellcaster, but he lacked basic mage knowledge! Using lightning against a Witch Demon? Did his mentor not tell him that the moment one becomes a Witch Demon, the power of lightning can no longer harm that skeletal body?
So, the Witch Demon did not regard the bolt of lightning—strong as the spell was, it was ineffective.
Muttering incantations, its deep voice was like a heavy hammer striking at the hearts of everyone present. It used words from the Dark World, a language whose very text could dim the sky. It said loudly, "Abyss, hear my Summoning, the power shall gather there. No matter what, no matter who, no matter how strong, no matter how vast, be mine to command!" Its right hand bone spur began to spin, like bamboo shoots crazily growing after the rain, extending outward, growing thicker and longer, becoming more hideous and terrifying. It felt the vortex’s power growing stronger and revealed a smile of victory.
Lynch heard the incantation-like phrase and sensed something unusual; his Refined Gold left hand trembled incessantly. It seemed to feel the power of the spell, as if being summoned or feeling threatened. Lynch was about to lose control of his left hand; he felt the object trying to break free, escaping from some kind of shackle.
The vortex above the Witch Demon’s head finally stopped rotating, and from the storm’s center extended a black hand, a large woman’s hand, reaching for the Witch Demon’s head from mid-air. This hand appeared with a thunderous momentum, accompanied by flames, lightning, and endless pressure in this space. In the path of this hand’s advance, nothing dared to block its flood-like power.
But it collided with the Witch Demon’s right hand.
That immense power seemed not to touch any entity, as if suddenly losing direction, stopping in the palm of those five slender bone fingers. It felt like an erupting volcano suddenly became still, with black smoke, lava, and massive rocks frozen mid-explosion. Time was frozen at this moment; nothing could move forward.
The Witch Demon laughed joyously, slowly closing its fingers. Meanwhile, the black hand descended from the Abyss Plane began to writhe in pain, gradually losing strength and shrinking. The vortex of the storm became increasingly small, its speed ever slower. The Witch Demon was absorbing power from this spell.
"The world’s strongest defense! Hahaha!" The Witch Demon’s wanton laughter drowned out the roar caused by Matron Batana’s Spell, echoing clearly. "I will regain power! You vermin will be crushed by me, one by one!"
Lynch staggered, almost losing balance from the impact brought by the recent spell. Despite this, he was doing better than the others; all the Dark Elves had already collapsed to the ground. He struggled against the overwhelming force, but the Witch Demon’s words kept echoing in his ears.
"The strongest defense!"
Finder’s past words suddenly surfaced in his mind: "Your arm is the masterpiece of the Great Arcanists, regarded as their greatest achievement. It is called the Left Hand, the world’s strongest defense." This phrase was like a beam of light in the darkness, awakening slumbering power.
Unconsciously, Lynch began to recite; he used Celestial Holy Words, yet some sentences also appeared in Abyss Profanity. It was as if he had been hypnotized, slowly speaking these two languages that he had never used before, powers he should not yet be able to wield with his abilities.
