Chapter 149: Episode 51 Temple (Part 4)_3

The female leader of the mercenary group had completely become a loner. She bit her lower lip tightly, watching in silence the bitter fruit borne of greed and arrogance. Once again, a green beam shot out from the gigantic statue, shattering those who had just turned into stone, scattering them into rubble on the ground, which then turned to dust and drifted away with the weak air currents in the hall.

Batana wore a cold smile as she turned to Lynch and said, "Adviser Mage, you go and deal with that petrifying trap. It’s blocking the path of the leading family." She noticed Zilvra’s hand resting on Lynch’s shoulder—Zilvra swiftly withdrew her hand. The matron said, "I will grant you the divine arts for protection against petrification. All devout followers will receive the Spider Goddess’s protection."

"Alright, matron." Lynch thought to himself, what devout follower would receive protection? I’m not even a Dark Elf, the protection of the Spider Goddess is clearly a false assurance! It seemed that the matron’s current anti-petrification spell surely had problems. If it truly offered protection, it would be a surprise! However, he clearly felt the Protection against Petrification Talisman hanging around his neck. Initially forged to resist the Petrified Lizard, it had hardly been of any use so far, but now it could finally come in handy.

After waiting for the matron to finish her spell, Lynch, ignoring Zilvra’s dissuading gaze, resolutely moved toward the pile of treasure. The statue seemed to sense the threat posed by this human and began attacking before the mage reached his designated spot. A green beam sliced through the darkness of the hall, leaving a distinct trail in everyone’s eyes, aiming at the mage’s forehead. Everyone had the illusion that the beam seemed to possess its own mass, transforming into a spear thrusting at its enemy.

Lynch swayed slightly, indifferent, continuing to walk forward.

The statue began a frenzied attack, with green beams shooting continuously from its eyes like festal fireworks and hammering down on the mage like raindrops. Lynch swayed gently in the storm, unflinchingly enduring all the attacks. The petrifying beams were like a cavalry formation charging forward, crashing into the steadfast ranks of pikemen; or like the ocean waves crashing with overwhelming momentum, only to shatter themselves against a hardy seawall.

"Magic power, source of all energy," Lynch raised his magic wand;

"Magic might, rule power," His left hand hidden within his sleeve, tightly gripping a magic scroll crafted under the Magic Network’s rules.

Before him, two forces clashed fiercely, influencing each other, like incompatible twins growing stronger through constant combat. The entire hall trembled under this wild and brutal power; even the green beams ceased their attack, as if surrendering, bowing in defeat.

This tremendous force suddenly launched out, blasting the statue at its waist, dismembering the upper half amid a thunderous roar, rendering it into useless stone.

The continuous noise echoed within the hall, repetitively resonating in the enclosed space, causing a dull ache in everyone’s ears. Yet Lynch’s voice seemed unaffected, directly appearing in their minds: clear, humble, but with an irresistibly commanding power.

"Respected Matron, I have fulfilled your request. Where to next?"
