Chapter 139: 47 episodes Discover_3
This is an empty field, with the ground as smooth as a polished mirror, without any bumps or pits, not even a single pebble. In the center of this hundred-meter wide open space, there is a massive rock, rising from underground to connect to the ceiling a hundred meters above. The cylindrical rock is about as thick as could be encircled by a dozen people, with its surface covered in mottled and uneven scars and densely packed dents from heavy blows—it has witnessed countless blades, spears, and swords over the ages it’s endured.
On one side of the field, a subterranean river flows quietly, without a sound. It’s like a piece of silk gliding gently across a woman’s smooth skin, ethereal and serene.
A few Dark Elves quietly yet swiftly patrolled around this open space, as if searching for something important, always keeping their heads down, gazing at the smooth ground beneath their feet. Lynch used the Eye of Insight to observe the stone pillar before him, but was astonished to discover something.
This cylindrical rock was essentially hollow, at most only two meters thick, and within it is a spiral staircase, with steps neatly constructed, stretching from the top of the column downwards. However, the underground part was cluttered with obstacles, exceeding the X-ray vision capability of the Eye of Insight.
But what surprised the Mage the most was that the five-member squad he encountered at the inn was now inside this stone column, paused on the steps looking out, as if the stone column was transparent to them. Apart from those five he met earlier that day, two more were added to their team—a sturdy Dwarf and a little girl.
Lynch widened his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing. Although the little girl was wrapped in a thick robe and a cloak, appearing thin and small, those clothes couldn’t block Lynch’s gaze. He saw a set of pristine white wings tightly folded on the girl’s back, completely covered up.
The girl was also looking out, and Lynch caught a glimpse of her face. This time, the Mage needed no Prophetic God Staff to make a judgment: this little one was undoubtedly the kidnapped Angel Soka he had been searching for! That face, though still very young, clearly carried her mother’s sacred aura; her large eyes curiously glanced around, blinking as she watched the Dark Elf army on the open ground outside the stone pillar, looking mischievous, but unable to conceal the aura of majestic sacred spiritual light from her father.
Now, the Mage’s mind was filled with questions, unsure how this five-member squad found the Angel. Though this unexpected gain would indeed save him a lot of time, it also posed a severe challenge. Clearly, the squad’s goal was also this ancient temple; they embarked on the expedition earlier than the leading family, but they also became the obstacle for the Berni family in gaining the Spider Goddess’s favor. Once discovered, they would face the wrath of the most powerful matron of the first family in Ratris City!
And the fate of the little Angel would be sealed forever the moment the matron’s gaze fell upon her.
A few Dark Elves returned to report some situations to the matron, but Lynch paid no attention, shouting in his heart, "You fools! Run now!"
Batana nodded while listening to her reconnoitre’s report, suddenly spinning around, and commanded the still bewildered Lynch, "Adviser Mage, you are now to break through this stone pillar!"
