Chapter 134: 45 episodes Letter_3
"Don’t get excited, Mr. Dwarf, take it slow..."
"I eventually became the victor of the Duel Arena and gained my freedom. It was an incredibly lucky thing. But I lost a leg in the process. I simply had no way to leave the Underworld governed by the Dark Elf. So I was forced to stay and opened a hotel, and Zilvra is one of the partners in this hotel."
"Partner? What does she want with these hotels?"
"No, you don’t understand the rules of the Underworld. Only a hotel with the backing of the Dark Elf or a particular lineage can survive in this world where the weak are prey to the strong. Miss Zilvra, she doesn’t care about the little money earned from the hotel; she just wants to attach the emblem of the First Family to these establishments so we can survive. You know, in Ratris City, all the shops owned by non-Underworld races are her partners."
"What does that say?"
"Others may not know what’s going on, but I do!" The dwarf picked up the bottle of wine from the table and gulped down several sips, "She’s always wanted to leave this shadowy world! You know, she doesn’t belong to this world at all. She gets involved in these shops only to hear stories from the surface world."
Lynch frowned, not expecting that this Dark Elf woman had such influence in Ratris City, at least among non-Dark Elves, she commanded considerable respect. No wonder he hadn’t heard of her having any private power or of her holding a Priest title. She wasn’t respected by other family members, and her skin wasn’t even black, yet the matron could still tolerate her, even indulge her to some extent.
So what exactly shaped Zilvra’s personality? The Mage began recalling every move of this Dark Elf girl, but suddenly an image appeared in his mind, a portrait with a Blazing Angel.
"Could it be, Zilvra’s father is not a Dark Elf, but an... Angel?" Lynch asked, his voice trembled as he looked into the dwarf’s eyes.
The dwarf looked as if he had been struck by lightning, placing a finger to his lips, "Just keep it to yourself, don’t say it so loudly. This is an open secret in the Dark Elf City. The First Matron once captured an Angel, but because Angels have genders but not reproductive abilities, this infuriated the matron. No one knows what she did to that Angel. However, a few years later, the white-skinned Zilvra was born."
"But she must have faced enormous discrimination. It’s unimaginable that a Dark Elf with Celestial lineage could be born..." The Mage thought of the faint blue hue on Zilvra’s skin and berated himself for not realizing sooner—only Celestial Creatures possessed such distinctive skin color.
"You’re not the first person she’s taken an interest in, Mage," Stone Leg said. "She previously sought strong individuals who could take her out of this Underworld, but all failed, and they all became powerful assets to their families. She has a keen eye for people, which might be from her other half of her bloodline..."
No need to say more; the other half of the bloodline undoubtedly refers to the Celestial half. Thinking of the two Angels who tracked Lynch’s power to the Mortal Realm, the Mage couldn’t help but marvel at this "keen sense of smell."
"Eventually, those people could achieve considerable power, but at the same time, they grew accustomed to living among the Dark Elves. They all adapted to this dark world, yet Zilvra is still trapped here."
"Since that’s the case, why doesn’t she leave on her own? Isn’t she quite formidable?" Nimo lay on the table, looking at the Old Dwarf.
"I’m afraid it’s not that easy..." Lynch and Deluo said in unison. Leaving the Underdark is not as simple as exiting this world; any Dark Elf betraying this city would face the eternal wrath of the Spider Goddess, perhaps living a life of constant pursuit. To truly leave here, it takes both substantial power and a strong background or force.
The Mage Association might be a decent front, but Lynch thought of his current abilities, and even if extremely lucky, leaving Dark Elf City still posed a great challenge. He needed to grow stronger.
The Mage didn’t notice that he wasn’t considering leaving Zilvra in Dark Elf City at all. He had already taken it upon himself to see the Dark Elf out of this place.
"This means we’ll face a few more adversaries here," Lynch said, clutching the letter in his hand tightly, "Even the Thief Guild is joining in on this!"
The piece of paper meant for transmitting information was easily crumpled by the Mage, but Lynch was stunned to discover that this letter had a hidden compartment, containing another slip of paper inside.
He carefully pulled out the contents and read them by the faint candlelight. His eyes grew wider, hands tightly gripping the small slip as if afraid it would suddenly disappear, his fair face blushing with excitement.
The note read: "Lynch, it’s me, Felps, Little Finger. I’ve somehow become the head of the Thief Guild but am not in control of myself. Finally saw you arrived in this city, meet me at the entrance of the Duel Arena tomorrow night to discuss further." Moreover, at the very bottom of this slip, was the symbol they used during their adventures together—only Lynch, Wislin, Anna, Morgan, and Felps knew it.
"I’ve found you, Little Finger!" Lynch’s eyes filled with tears.
-------------
Starting today, I’ll focus entirely on writing "The Mage’s Tale." I apologize to all readers for the drop in quality in the last two Chapters due to my unsettled mood. I’ve just realized what language style this book should maintain. Look forward to it, hehehe...
