Chapter 203: Chapter 173: Thousand-Year Tomb 2 - Emperor Qi Yuan_2

"Save me, I don’t want to die!"

"Ah..."

Two assassins were ensnared by the vines and stuck against the wall, too scared to move. Shortly after, the vines pierced through the stomachs of the two men, their blood spewing out onto the vines and being completely absorbed, causing the vines to grow thicker and stronger as they drank.

Tianshi was also wrapped by the vines and plastered against the wall; he watched helplessly as his two remaining companions bled to death, the sinister vines draining the blood from their bodies until only two mummified corpses with faces of terror remained.

Before Tianshi had a chance to look again, he felt an intense pain in his abdomen: several vines had punctured his stomach and were voraciously sucking his blood. He looked at Qin Qin unwillingly, only to see that, at some point, she had managed to hold up what looked like a torch and was swinging it at the Blood Vines, scattering them with her movements.

Tianshi didn’t understand when the woman had acquired such things, but before he could ponder any further, his consciousness began to blur, pain spread throughout his body, and in his last moments, Tianshi was filled with despair, and even regret – he regretted joining the Shi Organization and meeting such an end.

Meanwhile, Qin Qin pulled out a stick of wood from her space. This stick was left over from when Xiao Fong got peckish and asked her to roast fish in her space. It still had some flammable oil on it, which turned out to be quite useful now. She quickly took out two sticks, sprayed them with oil, gave one to Mo Yunchen, kept one for herself, and swung them at the Blood Vines. The Blood Vines were formidable, but they were very afraid of fire. Qin Qin suddenly felt grateful for Xiao Fong’s gluttony, for it allowed her to have these items. Normally she wouldn’t need to fear the Blood Vines because of her space, but the space could only accommodate her and those small animals; other people were not allowed to enter.

She had Mo Yunchen by her side, and even with his supernatural abilities, he definitely couldn’t cope with these bloodthirsty, weird Blood Vines.

They swung the two torches at the Blood Vines, and some of the vines consciously dispersed. Qin Qin, concerned they might regather, doused the Blood Vines with a pail of oil and then set them alight. The fire roared fiercely and instantly spread to all four walls, with the Blood Vines struggling within the flames until they were entirely consumed.

The blazing fire on the four walls caused the Tomb Chamber to become extremely hot. Qin Qin was held protectively in Mo Yunchen’s embrace, his broad frame preventing even a single spark from reaching her.

Qin Qin leaned comfortably in Mo Yunchen’s arms, with a continuous grateful smile in her heart.

The Blood Vines burned for a long time, and because the fire was so intense, they couldn’t leave. Once the fire had died down, Qin Qin stepped out of Mo Yunchen’s embrace, smiled at him, and said, "Let’s go. Now that all the enemies are dead, we should find an exit and head back!"

Mo Yunchen took Qin Qin’s hand, nodded, and replied, "Yes, let’s go back."

Xiao Bai had been quietly staying by Qin Qin’s side, then suddenly tugged at the hem of her pants, squeaking loudly.

Qin Qin looked down at Xiao Bai and asked, "What’s wrong, Xiao Bai?"

Xiao Bai let go of Qin Qin and scurried over to a wall where the fire had died down, squeaking and jumping around.

Qin Qin followed Xiao Bai’s gaze and was surprised.

Where the Blood Vines had burnt away, a tall Stone Gate was revealed. Qin Qin exchanged a glance with Mo Yunchen and they both approached it.

"Had the Blood Vines not been burned, this door might have never been discovered, right?" Qin Qin turned and said to Mo Yunchen.

"Indeed, this is quite a unique design. These Blood Vines must have been planted by someone, right?" Mo Yunchen spoke slowly, looking toward the still-smoking Stone Gate, as if there were inscriptions on it.

Qin Qin nodded in agreement, feeling that the Blood Vines must have been planted there to prevent tomb raiding – the emperor was certainly clever, though it was unknown which emperor it was.

"Are there inscriptions on this Stone Gate?" Mo Yunchen searched for a while but couldn’t find the mechanism to open the gate; then, he looked carefully at the inscriptions on the gate.

Due to the burning of the Blood Vines, everything was charred black and the inscriptions were unclear.

Mo Yunchen took out a handkerchief from his clothing and wiped away the smoking residue on the vines, reading the somewhat visible inscriptions.

At his eye level, there were three large characters: ’Sky Street’ at the beginning with a space in the middle, and a ’Rain’ character at the end. Below that, there were several slightly smaller characters with small holes beside them. Upon close inspection, Mo Yunchen saw that each of these small holes contained a dark, pointed arrow.

"The empty space here must be the key to opening this Stone Gate. There are over a dozen characters: Dream, Child, Wind, Snow, Clear, Blue... but which is the right one? Beside these characters, there are arrows; I think if we don’t choose correctly, these arrows will definitely shoot through us, killing us instantly!"
