Chapter 202: Chapter 173: Thousand-Year Tomb 2 - Emperor Qi Yuan
The sound of the Stone Gate opening and closing alerted the three Tianshi not far away. They exchanged glances, understanding that it must be Mo Yunchen and Qin Qin. They hadn’t expected those two to be alive in the face of so many Thousand Corpse Worms, but since they weren’t dead, the trio knew they had to complete their mission.
They picked up their guns and ran over, determined to eliminate the two and redeem themselves upon their return.
The Stone Gate closed in front of the three men.
Inside the Stone Gate, Mo Yunchen and Qin Qin looked around, only to see over a dozen Stone Coffins neatly arranged before them.
Qin Qin didn’t move forward but turned to Mo Yunchen and said, "These couldn’t be the ones buried with the dead, could they?!"
A pensive look crossed Mo Yunchen’s enchanting face, and he nodded, "Yes, they should be!"
"Whose tomb is this, to have such a grand set-up with even a dozen bodies buried with it?" Qin Qin walked forward, pushed hard on one of the coffins, and revealed a skeletal body inside. It was unmistakably female, as the intricate hairpin and the palace attire on the remains indicated. This attire and the hairpin signified she was a Jieyu, one of imperial palace rank.
"It must be an emperor who’s buried here, just like the legends say about the Emperor’s Tomb!"
Qin Qin opened a few more coffins, all revealing consorts of considerable rank.
Mo Yunchen stepped forward for a look, then uninterestedly withdrew his gaze.
At this moment, the Stone Gate made a noise again. Mo Yunchen and Qin Qin watched warily, thinking these people were like bad pennies–they just kept turning up.
Looking around, there was no exit in sight, but on the walls were some dark, greenish vines quietly dangling. Qin Qin looked at the vines on the wall, her face changed, then the corners of her lips lifted.
The Stone Gate was opened, and the three men came in from the outside.
"Master Mo, there’s no escape for you this time!" Tianshi said with a fierce look tinged with sinister intent. This time, he had lost so many brothers and couldn’t bear to return in such a state. Only by killing Mo Yunchen could he redeem himself.
"We’re not running!" Qin Qin stepped forward with a smile, then said softly to the three men, "Don’t know if you’ve ever heard of a certain kind of vine?"
"What are you trying to say? Don’t think we will let you go," one of the assassins said angrily, raising his gun at Qin Qin.
"You don’t need to let me go. In fact, you should listen patiently to what I really want to say," Qin Qin said with an ambiguous smile, a sort of smile that only Mo Yunchen knew concealed schemes–those who weren’t careful might fall prey.
Mo Yunchen’s lips curved up into a devilishly indulgent, doting smile.
Tianshi sneered, "I’m curious to see what tricks you want to pull. There are no strange creatures here, and you can’t escape now."
"Who said so? Actually, there’s something scarier than the Thousand Corpse Worms here. I was about to tell you, but you interrupted me," Qin Qin glared at them, dissatisfied.
"That’s nonsense. What could be here? Just a few coffins and a wall of vines. You think your words will scare us off? How laughable!" one of the assassins laughed out loud.
Qin Qin’s lips twisted into a thin, mocking smile, "These vines, let me tell you, are called Blood Vine. If they encounter blood, they will suck a person dry. Scary, isn’t it?"
On hearing this from Qin Qin, Tianshi and the other two assassins instinctively huddled together, looking at the bunch of quiet vines, then scoffed disdainfully, "You think this can scare us?"
"If you don’t believe it, why don’t you try?" Qin Qin’s hand lifted and several Silver Needles appeared in her slender palm. She shot them swiftly at the three men who were unable to react in time and were pierced by the needles, drawing blood.
Tianshi wiped the tiny cut on his cheek, sneering disdainfully, "Is this all you’ve got? A few needles trying to scare us off? Utterly naive and ridiculous."
Tianshi, unwilling to waste more words with Qin Qin and Mo Yunchen, raised his gun, "Today is the day you die; don’t blame us for cruelty. If anyone is to blame for your misfortune, it’s yourselves."
Tianshi narrowed his eyes and fired the gun.
As the gun fired, Qin Qin and Mo Yunchen dodged. Tianshi, enraged, prepared to shoot again, but the hand holding his gun became entangled with a vine. Behind him, his two accomplices cried out in terror. Tianshi turned in shock, only to see his men wrapped in black-green vines, being dragged towards the walls. His feet and hands were also entangled, and he couldn’t break free from the odd vines no matter how hard he tried. In that moment, Tianshi believed Qin Qin’s words, but it was already too late.
